To combine multiple stream widgets into one theme, place them together in a single overlay in the StreamElements Overlay Editor, save it, then add that overlay to OBS as one Browser source. You can start with a Super Theme or build a new overlay. This keeps the widgets composed together in the editor instead of managing each as a separate OBS source.
How a combined overlay works
An overlay is a composition of visuals layered over your stream: alerts, labels, goals, chat, and other widgets. In StreamElements, you arrange those elements in the Overlay Editor; your broadcast software renders the finished overlay through a single browser source. StreamElements describes how overlays work.
This is different from adding several separate overlay URLs to an OBS scene. A single composed overlay gives you one editor layout and one URL to manage. Separate browser-source overlays remain independently positioned and managed in the scene. Use the composed approach when you want the widgets to belong to one theme.

Create the theme in StreamElements
- Open Overlays. In StreamElements, go to the Overlays area. Create a new overlay, or choose a Super Theme from the Themes Gallery as your starting point. The Super Theme and AlertBox guide explains the theme setup.
- Set the canvas size. Choose an overlay resolution that matches your stream canvas. A smaller overlay can work if you intend to reposition or scale it in OBS, but matching the canvas makes editor placement easier to judge.
- Add the widgets you need. In the Overlay Editor, open the widget picker and add elements such as an AlertBox or Custom Widget. StreamElements also documents alerts, labels, goals, chat, and other overlay visuals in its Getting Started with Overlays guide.
- Arrange and customize them together. Position the widgets in the shared overlay layout, then adjust their settings and appearance. Select multiple widgets to group them if that helps with arranging. The documented shortcuts include
Shift+Dto duplicate andShift+Gto group; see Overlay Editor Shortcuts. - Save the overlay. Save your edits in the editor before moving to OBS. The completed composition is still one overlay, even though it contains multiple widgets.
- Copy its URL. Copy the overlay URL from the editor or overlay manager. You will paste this URL into OBS in the next section.
Add the combined overlay to OBS
- In OBS, select the scene where you want the theme to appear.
- In the Sources panel, click + and choose Browser. Create a new source and give it a recognizable name, such as “StreamElements theme.”
- In the Browser source properties, paste the overlay URL into the URL field.
- Set the Browser source width and height to match the target canvas or layout, then confirm the properties.
- Check the scene preview. If the overlay is misplaced or clipped, adjust its dimensions or transform in OBS, or return to the Overlay Editor to change the widget layout and save.
StreamElements’ OBS setup guide covers adding overlays as Browser sources. This setup makes the composed theme one source in the scene; it does not turn each widget into its own OBS source.

Prevent duplicate alerts and audio
If you copy widgets from separate theme overlays, inspect the finished composition for more than one AlertBox. Duplicate AlertBoxes may show the same alert more than once or play its audio twice. Remove or hide any extra AlertBox unless you intentionally need multiple alert widgets, then save and check the scene again.
Choose one composed overlay or several separate sources

StreamElements’ theme instructions also cover scenes that use multiple overlay Browser sources. That is a source-stacking approach, not the same as combining widgets inside one editor overlay. The documentation establishes these organizational differences, not a performance or resource-use advantage for either setup.
