To cluster Path of Titans servers, run at least two dedicated community servers, give each one a unique server identity and reachable port, and start every member with -Database=Remote while authenticated to the same Alderon Games account. That shared Remote database is Alderon’s server-hiving system: players can move between linked servers and retain their character data.
Clustering is not official-server matchmaking. It is an operator-managed group of community servers with shared persistence. The servers can still have different maps, rules, mods and gameplay settings, so the quality of the handoff depends on how consistently you configure and operate the members.
What Path of Titans server clustering actually does
Alderon calls the feature server hiving. Multiple dedicated community servers point to one Remote database of player data. A player can leave one linked server, join another, and continue with the character information stored in that shared database.
The database is shared; the server processes are not. Each member still needs its own installation, process, network port and unique ServerGUID. Server names, maps, administrator lists, rules, mods and gameplay settings remain community-server configuration choices. If those choices differ, a cluster can feel like several unrelated servers even though character persistence is shared.

What hiving does not synchronize
Server hiving is not a replication system for every file in every server directory. It does not automatically copy a map choice, mod list, administrator roster, rule set, restart schedule or configuration change from one member to another. Decide which settings should match and maintain those settings deliberately. A shared character database cannot make two members feel identical if one is a hardcore ruleset and the other has different gameplay multipliers.
Decide how you will host the cluster
Self-hosting
Self-hosting means installing Alderon’s dedicated server software on machines you control and making the processes reachable from the internet. You are responsible for the operating system, AlderonGamesCmd updates, firewall and NAT rules, port assignments, restarts, monitoring, storage and recovery procedures.
This is the most flexible option when you already have suitable hardware and networking expertise. It also creates the largest operational workload: a mistake in port forwarding or an expired authentication token can make a member disappear from the server list even while its process is running. Running several members on one host also concentrates risk: a host reboot, disk failure or network outage affects every server at once.
Separate hosts can improve fault isolation and let you place members closer to different player populations, but they add more machines, credentials, update jobs and network paths to maintain. Whichever layout you choose, document the host, directory, GUID, port and public address for each member.
Using a game server provider
A game server provider (GSP) supplies managed infrastructure for a recurring fee and handles more of the machine and network work. You still need to confirm that the provider explicitly supports Alderon’s dedicated server software, separate ports for every member and the -Database=Remote server-hiving workflow. Provider pricing, regions, uptime commitments and support response are not established here, so treat those as questions to verify before ordering.
Ask whether you receive filesystem or command-line access, whether each cluster member can use its own port and GUID, where Remote connectivity is allowed, and how backups are exported if you leave the provider. Confirm whether the provider permits mods and custom configuration, how updates are scheduled, and whether support staff understand a multi-server hived installation rather than a single standalone server.

Requirements before installing anything
- An Alderon Games account that owns Path of Titans. Authenticate both AlderonGamesCmd and each PathOfTitansServer process with that account when using Remote persistence.
- Two or more compatible dedicated-server installations. Keep cluster members on compatible builds and use the production branch unless you have a documented reason to use another branch.
- A unique UUIDv4-style
ServerGUIDfor every member. Never clone a GUID from one server to another. - A distinct game port for every process. Alderon’s setup example uses
-Port=7777; a second member must use another available port. - Reachable network addresses. Configure host firewalls and NAT or router forwarding so each advertised address and port can be reached by players.
- A persistence plan. Remote is shared state, so establish backups and test how you would restore them before inviting a large population.
- A written inventory containing each server’s name, host, directory, branch, GUID, port, advertised IP, mods, rules and maintenance owner.
Step-by-step: build a clustered installation
1. Choose the host layout
Place the members on one machine only if it has enough CPU, memory, storage and network capacity for all processes. Otherwise distribute them across machines. In either layout, players must be able to reach each member’s advertised address and port, and all members must use the same Alderon account for Remote.
Reserve stable directories and ports before installing. Avoid putting multiple members in one directory: shared logs and configuration files make it easy to launch the wrong identity or remove the wrong data during maintenance.
2. Install and update the dedicated files
Use AlderonGamesCmd, Alderon’s command-line distribution tool, to download and update the dedicated server files. The official setup process supports Windows, macOS and Linux and uses the game identifier path-of-titans. Select the production branch unless your deployment has a specific, documented reason to use another branch.
Install the files for each member in a clearly separated directory. Separate directories make it easier to identify logs, configuration and restart scripts and reduce the chance of updating or deleting the wrong member. Record the installed build after every update so you can identify a member that was accidentally left on an older version.

3. Authenticate the tools and server processes
Sign AlderonGamesCmd in with the Alderon account that owns the game, then authenticate each PathOfTitansServer process as required by Alderon’s setup procedure. Remote hiving depends on the members using the same account; different accounts do not form one shared Remote cluster.
Keep credentials and tokens out of public launch scripts, screenshots and support tickets. If a token expires or authentication changes, restart the affected process only after checking the account and then repeat the cross-server save test.
4. Generate identities instead of copying them
Create one UUIDv4-style value for each member and record the mapping between GUID, directory, server name and port. A GUID identifies a server, not a cluster. Reusing one can cause identity collisions and makes administration and troubleshooting unreliable. Treat a GUID as permanent for that member unless Alderon’s documentation gives you a reason to replace it; changing identities casually complicates logs and operator records.
5. Assign ports and make them reachable
Give every process a distinct game port. For example, one member may use -Port=7777 and another a different unused port. Open the corresponding host-firewall rules and forward the ports through the router or NAT device when self-hosting.

A local connection can succeed even when an internet player is blocked by a router rule, carrier-grade NAT or provider firewall.
If the address players should see is supplied by a firewall, relay or DDoS-protection layer rather than the host itself, configure the documented -ServerListIP option with that advertised address. The public address and the process’s listening port must describe a path players can actually reach; setting only the list address does not replace firewall or forwarding rules.
6. Start every member with Remote persistence
Launch each member with -Database=Remote and the same Alderon account. A launch command will contain the server executable and your member-specific arguments, for example:
PathOfTitansServer -Database=Remote -Port=7777 -ServerGUID=<unique-guid-for-member-a> -ServerListIP=<advertised-address>
Use a different port and GUID for member B and every subsequent member. The exact executable path, authentication syntax and platform service configuration vary by operating system, so follow Alderon’s setup guide for those portions rather than copying a command intended for another platform.
Do not mix Remote and local database modes in a cluster that is supposed to share characters. A server can appear healthy while quietly writing to a different persistence mode, which is why the handoff test is essential.
7. Give the members clear identities in the server list
Use distinct names that tell players how the cluster is organized, such as a map or role in the name. Publish that the entries are linked and explain any rules that differ between them. If the intended experience is continuous, align mods, gameplay settings and moderation policies instead of assuming that the shared database will synchronize them.

- PLAYMAT: Decks also contain a learn to play guide and a paper playmat.
- BRINGING THE MANGA TO LIFE in our set gives it a distinct visual style that is sure to attract a lot of attention.
- NON-CHARACTER CARDS in these decks are found in Attack on Titan: Battle for Humanity, providing a good starting point for a new player to build their collection.
Use a consistent naming prefix so players can identify the cluster, followed by a member-specific label. Keep descriptions current when a map, mod or ruleset changes; stale descriptions create support requests and accidental rule violations.
8. Perform a controlled handoff test
- Join member A from a test account.
- Create or update a character and make a normal, safe exit.
- Confirm that member A remains healthy and that its logs show successful Remote access.
- Join member B and check whether the expected character data is available.
- Repeat the test in the opposite direction and with a second test character if possible.
- Repeat after a restart and again after an update, because a launch script can lose an argument even when the initial test passed.
If the character is missing, first check that both processes use -Database=Remote, the same Alderon account and compatible builds. A successful connection to member B alone does not prove that both members are using the same database.
How to keep a cluster coherent for players
Coordinate settings deliberately
Server hiving shares persistence, not every configuration file. Decide whether all members should have the same rules, admins, mods, maps and gameplay settings. When members serve different purposes, state those differences prominently in their names and descriptions so a player does not assume that a survival rule, mod or map applies everywhere.
Keep a canonical configuration record outside the server directories. When you change a mod, rule or gameplay setting, note which members received it, the date, the operator and the rollback plan. This prevents one forgotten member from becoming an accidental third ruleset.
Define movement and moderation policies
Document what players should do before changing servers, which activities are allowed, and how administrators handle reports that involve more than one member. Alderon allows community owners to assign administrators, set rules and install mods, but those controls remain subject to the Terms of Service and Server Hosting Agreement.
Explain whether a player should finish an activity, save normally and leave before joining another member. Make clear where players report abuse and which administrator can act across the cluster. Shared characters do not automatically create shared moderation records or shared staff permissions.
Recommended Free Tools
Plan capacity and maintenance windows
Each additional process adds another set of logs, updates, restarts and network checks. Schedule maintenance so players know when one or more entries will disappear, and keep the member names and port records current as the cluster grows.
When possible, drain one member, announce the restart, verify it, and then move to the next. A staged restart limits the number of unavailable entries and gives you a chance to catch a bad update before every member is affected.
Operate Remote persistence safely
Back up and rehearse recovery
Remote reduces the risk of losing persistence when a local server folder is removed and is the recommended mode for multiple servers. It is still shared state: create a backup policy appropriate to your deployment, document where backups are stored and test a restore procedure on a non-production copy. Do not treat a server-directory copy as a complete database backup unless your recovery test proves that it is.
Store backups separately from the host that runs the servers and protect access to them. Record the time, scope and result of each backup. A backup that cannot be located or restored is not a recovery plan.

Avoid unsupported concurrent database manipulation
Do not edit or manipulate the shared database simultaneously from multiple administrative processes. Make one controlled change at a time, record who made it and verify the result before allowing normal traffic. Never troubleshoot by pointing several members at ad-hoc copies of the database while players are active; that can produce inconsistent observations and make the eventual fix harder to identify.
Monitor the parts that commonly fail
- Process health and clean shutdowns for every member.
- Listening ports, firewall rules and NAT mappings.
- Authentication-token validity for AlderonGamesCmd and PathOfTitansServer.
- Disk space for server files, logs and backups.
- Remote database connectivity and error messages.
- Build versions after every update.
- Whether the advertised address still points to the current host or protection layer.
Alderon documents automated restart settings. AlderonGamesCmd does not currently update itself, so include the tool itself in your maintenance checklist rather than assuming the updater will always be current.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The second server is not visible
- Confirm that its process is running and listening on the intended port.
- Check that the port is different from every other member and is open in the host firewall.
- Verify router forwarding or provider networking.
- If a relay, firewall or DDoS address is used, check the
-ServerListIPvalue and whether that address forwards to the process. - Review authentication and server logs for expired credentials or startup errors.
- Check that the server was not started from the wrong directory with another member’s configuration.
Players can join, but characters do not follow them
- Check the launch arguments on every member for the exact
-Database=Remotesetting. - Confirm that every member uses the same Alderon account that owns the game.
- Check for incompatible server builds.
- Verify that the test character was safely saved before leaving the first member.
- Make sure a copied configuration did not retain another member’s GUID or point to an unintended database mode.
- Repeat the test in both directions and after a clean restart.
One member behaves differently from the others
Compare its map, rules, mods, administrator list and gameplay settings with the intended cluster policy. Shared persistence does not synchronize those choices. Also compare its server build and restart history; an interrupted update can leave one member out of step.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The cluster worked until a restart or update
Check whether the restart changed the working directory, authentication state, port, GUID or branch. Re-run the controlled handoff test after correcting the configuration. Update members in a planned sequence and keep compatible builds together rather than mixing newly updated and older processes indefinitely.
A provider says the server is online, but players cannot connect
Ask the provider to verify the externally reachable address and assigned port, not merely the process status in its control panel. Confirm that the panel has not regenerated a port, changed the advertised address or overwritten the launch arguments. Check whether DDoS protection or a relay requires a specific -ServerListIP value.
Scaling beyond two members
Adding a third or fourth server repeats the same identity rules: one directory, one process, one unique GUID and one distinct reachable port per member. Every additional process must use the same Alderon account and Remote mode if it is part of the hived persistence group.
Maintain a cluster inventory and a change checklist rather than treating expansion as a copy-and-paste task. Copying files is convenient, but copying a GUID, port or stale database argument is a common way to create collisions. Generate the new identity, assign the new port, compare its launch arguments with the intended template, and perform an A-to-new and new-to-A handoff test before announcing it.

In a May 2026 development update, Alderon described the current self-hosting path as downloading the dedicated server software, running it on your own machine, forwarding ports and handling other networking work that can be complex for an average player. That is the production model to plan for when building a cluster today.
The same update said NAT punch-through and invite-based hosting were being developed with cross-play goals. Those projects should not be treated as an available replacement for dedicated software, port forwarding and Remote server hiving until Alderon announces that they are production features.
Compliance checklist
- Operate every community server under Alderon’s Terms of Service and Server Hosting Agreement.
- Publish rules that players can understand before they join.
- Assign administrators carefully and keep access records.
- Review every mod for compatibility and compliance before enabling it across members.
- Remove or quarantine a member that cannot be kept on a compatible build or cannot reach the shared Remote database reliably.
Frequently asked questions
How do I link Path of Titans servers?
Run two or more dedicated community servers, authenticate them with the same game-owning Alderon account, assign each a unique ServerGUID and reachable port, and launch every member with -Database=Remote. Test a character handoff in both directions.

What is Path of Titans server hiving?
Server hiving is Alderon’s name for linking multiple community servers to a shared Remote database of player data. It lets players move between linked servers while retaining cross-server character saves.
Can I use one database with multiple servers?
Yes, use Alderon’s Remote database mode for the linked members and the same Alderon account on every member. Do not assume that local folders or copied configuration files represent the shared Remote state.
Do all clustered servers need the same port?
No. Each process needs its own distinct game port, and each advertised address-and-port combination must be reachable by players. Alderon’s example uses -Port=7777; other members require other available ports.
Can two servers share a ServerGUID?
No. Generate a different UUIDv4-style ServerGUID for every member. A GUID identifies an individual server, and reusing it creates identity collisions.
Will hiving synchronize mods, maps and rules?
No. Hiving shares character persistence. Mods, maps, administrators, rules and gameplay settings remain per-server choices, so coordinate them manually or explain the differences clearly.
Is self-hosting available without port forwarding?
The current production path still requires dedicated software and network setup, including port forwarding where applicable. Alderon’s May 2026 update discussed NAT punch-through and invite-based hosting as development work, not as a replacement you can assume is available.
Should I self-host or use a GSP?
Self-hosting offers direct control but requires you to operate hardware, networking, updates, backups and recovery. A GSP trades that work for a recurring fee and provider limits. Choose only after confirming Remote hiving support, ports, regions, backups, uptime terms and support scope.
Final pre-launch checklist
- All members run compatible production-branch files.
- Every member has a different UUIDv4-style
ServerGUID. - Every member has a distinct, reachable port.
- All members authenticate with the same game-owning Alderon account.
- Every launch uses
-Database=Remote. - Advertised addresses and
-ServerListIPvalues match the reachable network path. - Names, maps, rules, mods and gameplay differences are documented for players.
- Backups and a tested recovery procedure exist.
- The A-to-B and B-to-A character handoff tests pass.
- Monitoring, restart, update and maintenance procedures are written down.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum number of servers for a cluster?
At least two dedicated community servers are required. Each needs its own process, unique GUID and reachable port, while Remote persistence and the Alderon account link the members.
Can I run every member on one computer?
Yes, if the machine has enough capacity and each process has a separate directory, port and GUID. A single host also creates a shared failure point if it goes offline.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhy is my server visible but the character missing?
Check Remote mode, the identical Alderon account, compatible builds, safe character exit and copied arguments that may contain a wrong GUID or database setting.
Does Alderon provide official server-hiving support?
Alderon documents Remote database hiving for community servers. A GSP may provide infrastructure support, but verify that its service explicitly supports this workflow.
The Bottom Line
Cluster Path of Titans servers by treating them as separate dedicated processes joined by one Remote database: use the same game-owning Alderon account, unique GUIDs, distinct reachable ports and compatible builds. Coordinate rules and content manually, test character handoffs in both directions, and operate backups, updates and monitoring as shared production responsibilities. Today, self-hosting still requires dedicated software and network configuration; a GSP is the managed alternative when it explicitly supports Alderon’s hiving workflow.
