You can clear the Epic Games Launcher cache without uninstalling, redownloading, or deleting your installed games. Fully exit the Launcher, remove only its named webcache folders, and start it again. On Windows, those folders are in %localappdata%EpicGamesLauncherSaved. On macOS, they are in ~/Library/Caches/com.epicgames.EpicGamesLauncher. The Launcher recreates cache data when it needs it.
What clearing the Epic Games Launcher cache actually changes
The cache contains temporary Launcher web content. Epic Games Support says that clearing it can resolve display issues or errors that prevent the Epic Games Launcher or games from working correctly. This makes cache clearing a troubleshooting reset for stale or damaged Launcher data, not a game reinstallation.
The documented operation targets the Launcher’s cache directories only. It does not ask you to uninstall the Epic Games Launcher, remove a game, or delete a game’s installation directory. Your installed games remain where you already installed them, provided you delete only the folders named in the procedure.

- A blank, malformed, or partially rendered Launcher interface.
- Loading problems caused by stale Launcher web content.
- Errors that stop the Launcher or an associated game from working correctly when the problem is related to cached Launcher data.
Problems it does not repair
Cache clearing does not replace damaged game files or perform a game-file repair. If a game itself has missing or corrupted files, clearing Launcher webcache data is not a substitute for that game’s separate repair or verification feature. It is also not a general-purpose cleanup step: do not use it as a reason to remove unrelated files from the Epic Games folders.

Before you start: the safe boundaries
Close the Launcher before opening its cache location. A running process can keep files in use, and deleting while the application is active can leave the reset incomplete.
- Save any work in other applications before restarting the Launcher.
- Exit Epic Games Launcher completely rather than merely closing its main window.
- Delete only
webcache,webcache_4147, andwebcache_4430when those folders are present. - Do not create a missing cache folder yourself.
- Do not delete neighboring folders, game-installation folders, or files with similar names.
Epic notes that a Windows installation may contain only one or two of the listed cache folders. Seeing fewer folders than the list is normal.
Clear the cache on Windows
Use this procedure on a Windows PC running the Epic Games Launcher. The path is in your Windows local application-data area, not in the folder where your games are installed.

- Exit the Launcher from the system tray. Look at the lower-right notification area of the Windows taskbar. If the icons are collapsed, click the arrow to show them. Right-click the Epic Games icon and choose Exit. Closing the Launcher window alone is not enough if its tray process remains active.
- Open the Run dialog. Press Windows + R together. This opens the Windows Run box.
- Open the local application-data folder. Enter
%localappdata%exactly, then press Enter. Windows opens the folder represented by that variable for your user account. - Navigate to the Launcher’s saved data. Open the
EpicGamesLauncherfolder, then openSaved. The resulting location is%localappdata%EpicGamesLauncherSaved. - Remove only the cache folders that exist. In
Saved, selectwebcache,webcache_4147, andwebcache_4430if they appear, then delete those folders. You may see just one or two of them. Leave every other file and folder untouched. - Start the Launcher again. Open Epic Games Launcher normally. It rebuilds the cache as needed from a clean starting state.
If Windows says a folder is in use
Return to the first step and check the notification area again. The Epic Games icon may still be present even after the main window disappeared. Choose Exit from the tray menu, wait for the process to close, and try deleting the named folders again. Do not work around a locked file by deleting the entire Saved directory.

If %localappdata% does not open the expected location
Confirm that you typed the variable with the percent signs and no extra spaces: %localappdata%. From there, look specifically for EpicGamesLauncher and then Saved. If the named cache folders are not present, do not create them and do not remove unrelated data; proceed to relaunch the Launcher or use the macOS procedure only if you are actually on macOS.
Clear the cache on macOS
On a Mac, the Launcher cache is under your user Library cache directory. Finder hides the Library from some normal browsing views, so use Finder’s direct folder command.
- Quit Epic Games Launcher. Close the application and make sure it is no longer running before touching its cache files.
- Open Go to Folder. In Finder, choose Go from the menu bar, then select Go to Folder….
- Enter the documented cache path. Type
~/Library/Caches/com.epicgames.EpicGamesLauncherand press Enter. The tilde represents your macOS user home folder. - Move the webcache folder to the Trash. Select the folder named
webcacheand move it to the Trash. Do not remove the entirecom.epicgames.EpicGamesLauncherdirectory or other cache directories. - Empty the Trash. Control-click the Trash in the Dock and choose Empty Trash. This completes removal of the old cache rather than leaving it recoverable in the Trash.
- Relaunch Epic Games Launcher. Start the application again so it can rebuild the cache it needs.
If the Mac folder is not found
Use Finder’s Go > Go to Folder… command and paste the path exactly, including the leading ~/. If the webcache folder is absent, do not create a replacement and do not delete the parent cache directory. The documented reset removes the folder when it exists.

Why your games stay installed
The two operating systems place the Launcher’s temporary web data in locations separate from game-installation folders. Windows uses the local application-data path %localappdata%EpicGamesLauncherSaved; macOS uses ~/Library/Caches/com.epicgames.EpicGamesLauncher. The procedure removes only the named cache data in those locations.

Because no game-installation folder is part of the documented steps, clearing the cache does not require uninstalling installed games. The important qualification is precision: deleting the wrong folder can create a different problem. Work only inside the exact path for your operating system and select only the specified cache folder names.
What you should see after the reset
When you open the Launcher again, it recreates cache data as needed. The first screen you were troubleshooting should be tested again after the relaunch. If the display or loading problem was caused by stale cached content, the clean cache gives the Launcher a fresh copy to work from.
Use cache clearing for the right symptoms
Cache deletion is most appropriate when the Launcher’s interface or loading behavior points to stale web content. Examples include a blank or malformed window, pages that fail to load correctly, or an error associated with the Launcher not rendering or functioning as expected.
Epic Games’ description is deliberately limited: “Clearing the cache can resolve display issues or errors that prevent the Epic Games Launcher or games from working correctly.” That wording describes a possible resolution, not a guarantee. If the underlying issue is unrelated to cached Launcher content, deleting the cache may make no difference.

When to stop and use another troubleshooting path
- The Launcher still shows the same display problem after it has been relaunched with a clean cache.
- The error concerns game files rather than the Launcher interface or its loading content.
- You cannot identify the operating-system path or the exact folder names.
- You are being asked to delete a folder other than the documented cache folders.
In these cases, keep the game-installation folders intact and use the troubleshooting instructions that match the specific error. Cache clearing is a narrow reset, not a universal repair.

Deleting the whole Epic Games Launcher directory
The Windows procedure goes only as far as Saved, and the macOS procedure identifies one webcache folder. Removing the parent EpicGamesLauncher, Saved, or com.epicgames.EpicGamesLauncher directory goes beyond the documented operation and can remove data that the Launcher still needs.
Removing every folder that contains “cache”
Use the names Epic specifies, not a broad search for anything that looks temporary. On Windows, the listed names are webcache, webcache_4147, and webcache_4430. On macOS, the listed target is webcache inside the documented Launcher cache directory.

Epic says that only one or two of the Windows folders may be present. Delete the ones you actually see and leave the rest alone; absence is not an error that requires creating a folder.

Deleting while the Launcher is still running
Always exit first. On Windows, check the system tray because the process can remain there after the main window closes. On macOS, quit the application before using Finder’s folder command.
Confusing cache clearing with game reinstallation
This operation does not download the games again and does not repair game binaries. It resets temporary Launcher web data. Treat game-file repair as a separate task when the symptoms point to the installed game itself.
A compact recovery checklist
- Identify whether you are on Windows or macOS.
- Exit Epic Games Launcher completely.
- Open only the documented cache location for that operating system.
- Delete the specified
webcachefolder or folders that are present. - Leave all game-installation folders and unrelated files untouched.
- Empty the Trash on macOS, or finish the deletion on Windows.
- Relaunch the Epic Games Launcher and check the original display, loading, or error symptom.
If the problem remains, the cache reset has still been completed correctly; it simply indicates that cached Launcher data was not the cause established by this procedure. Do not escalate by deleting additional folders at random.
