The right LG OLED starts with your seat, not the model number. Measure the distance from your main viewing position to the screen, check the wall or furniture that will hold the television, then match the size and series to your mix of films, everyday viewing, and games.

For the 2026 US range, LG positions the B6 as its entry OLED, the C6 as an all-around model, and the G6 as the brighter premium option. Those are LG’s own descriptions rather than independent laboratory rankings, and sizes, features, prices, and even model names can differ outside the United States.

Start with viewing distance and available space

Screen size should follow the distance at which you actually watch. Measure from eye position on the main seat to the plane of the screen, not from the back of the sofa to the wall. If several people watch regularly, use the seat that matters most or choose a size that remains comfortable for the closest regular viewer.

LG’s room-size guide treats distance, room dimensions, and personal preference as starting points rather than a rigid formula. Its example places a 75-inch television at an ideal distance of approximately 2.1–2.3 metres (82.6–90.5 inches). That range is a guide, not a universal comfort rule: eyesight, content quality, subtitles, and your tolerance for a more immersive image all change the result.

The LG Game Dashboard and Game Optimizer provide complete control whether you game on consoles or in the cloud.

A practical measuring routine

  1. Put a tape measure at eye height on the main viewing seat.
  2. Measure to the planned front surface of the TV, allowing for a wall mount’s depth or the stand’s position.
  3. Record the usable wall width and height, including trim, shelves, windows, speakers, and doors that must still open.
  4. Use LG’s room-size guide as a starting recommendation for that distance.
  5. Test the proposed size with masking tape on the wall or cardboard at the television’s outside dimensions. Sit in your normal position for both a film scene and ordinary broadcast content.

Do not confuse diagonal size with the physical width. A 77-inch screen occupies substantially more wall than a 55-inch screen, and the bezel, stand, and cable bend area add to the space you need. Exact dimensions vary by model and by whether the stand is attached, so use the product page for the precise code before ordering.

Account for more than one row of seats

If the sofa is far back but a nearer chair is used for gaming, check both positions. A size that looks cinematic from the sofa can feel overwhelming at the chair. Conversely, choosing for the nearest seat can make subtitles and menus unnecessarily small for viewers farther away. When seating distances differ greatly, prioritize the person who watches most often and make sure the nearer viewer can move back for long sessions.

Match the screen to light, content, and habits

OLED contrast is most impressive when reflections are controlled. Identify windows, lamps, glossy furniture, and light-coloured walls that can reflect from the panel. A darker room gives films and series a more forgiving environment; a bright living room may make placement and glare control more important than a nominal specification.

Mostly films and series

Choose the size that gives a cinema-like view from your measured seat without forcing constant head movement. Check that the selected series supports the formats used by your services and discs. LG lists Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos among the C6’s launch features, but the exact feature set must still be checked for the regional model code and size you intend to buy.

Everyday television and mixed family viewing

A mixed-use room benefits from a size that remains comfortable for lower-quality broadcasts, news tickers, and daytime viewing. LG describes the C6 as its all-around series. The B6 may make sense when the priority is entering the OLED range at a lower tier, provided its size choices and features meet your needs. LG’s positioning is not a substitute for checking the actual specification page.

Bright rooms

LG positions the G6 as its higher-end, brighter OLED range. Its Brightness Booster Ultra is described by LG as delivering “up to 3.9x the brightness of a regular OLED TV.” That is a manufacturer claim and a stated comparison, not an independently measured brightness result. Curtains, lamp placement, and screen angle can still matter more than a headline multiplier.

Viewing with subtitles or from an angle

Subtitles, scoreboards, and news crawls make a little extra screen area useful, but increasing size cannot fix an unsuitable seating angle or a reflection directly opposite the panel. Keep the main seats as close to straight-on as the room permits, and verify the screen’s physical height so captions are not uncomfortably low or high.

What the 2026 US B6, C6, and G6 lines represent

The following summary applies to LG’s 2026 US material. Availability and specifications can change by country, screen size, and exact regional code.

Series LG’s stated position US 2026 sizes stated in the material Notable listed features Consider it when
B6 Entry-level OLED Check the current US product page; a complete size list was not stated Check the exact size and code for the feature set You want an OLED at the entry tier and do not need every premium gaming or brightness feature
C6 All-around OLED 42, 48, 55, 65, 77, and 83 inches Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, 4K 165Hz, and VRR listed in LG’s launch announcement You need broad size choice for a bedroom, apartment, living room, or large media room
G6 Higher-end, brighter OLED 55, 65, 77, 83, and 97 inches 4K 165Hz VRR, NVIDIA G-SYNC, and AMD FreeSync Premium listed for gaming You have a bright room, want the premium tier, or use a capable gaming PC

Other LG models and design variants may appear in the 2026 catalogue. Do not assume that a feature shown for one series is present in every size, or that a US model is sold under the same code in another market.

When the B6 is the sensible choice

Start with the B6 if your main decision is whether OLED fits your budget and room, rather than whether you need the highest gaming specification. Confirm the screen sizes offered locally, the refresh-rate and VRR details for the chosen size, the supplied stand or mount, and the ports required by your devices. A lower series is not automatically the right value if buying a separate mount, sound system, or replacement accessories erases the price difference.

When the C6 is the sensible choice

The C6 is the broadest fit for a household that watches a mixture of films, streaming television, sports, and games. Its six US sizes make it easier to fit unusual spaces, from a 42-inch desk or bedroom setup to an 83-inch dedicated viewing wall. LG lists 4K 165Hz and VRR for the C6 announcement, but confirm the specification for the exact diagonal and local code before relying on those figures.

When the G6 is the sensible choice

Consider the G6 when the room is difficult to control for light, when premium gaming compatibility is important, or when the larger 97-inch option fits your viewing distance and wall. The G6’s listed NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium support is relevant mainly to compatible PC hardware; it does not make a lower-output console produce more frames. Verify the graphics card, cable path, and game settings as a system.

Choose refresh rate and VRR for the devices you actually own

A television advertised at up to 4K 165Hz can refresh at that rate only when the source, connection, game, and settings can deliver it. Many consoles and films operate below that ceiling, while a gaming PC may benefit if its graphics hardware can render at the required resolution and frame rate.

Your use What to verify Why it matters
Current-generation console Console output limits, supported VRR range, the TV’s exact input specification, and the cable supplied or required The console may not use the panel’s maximum refresh rate, but compatible VRR can smooth frame-rate changes
Gaming PC Graphics card outputs, 4K performance, 165Hz support, G-SYNC or FreeSync compatibility, and cable length The PC must generate enough frames and negotiate a compatible signal; the TV alone cannot create that performance
Films and streaming HDR and Dolby Vision support for the services or discs you use Most movie content is not 165Hz, so picture format and room comfort may matter more than peak refresh rate
Mixed use Whether the exact size retains the advertised refresh and VRR features Feature lists can vary by size, market, or regional model code

Gaming checklist before purchase

  • Write down the exact TV model code, including the screen-size suffix.
  • Compare that code with LG’s local specification page, not only a retailer’s series name.
  • Check the console or PC output mode you actually use.
  • Confirm VRR terminology and compatibility for your platform.
  • Plan cable routing so the high-bandwidth connection reaches the correct input without a sharp bend or inaccessible wall cavity.
  • Allow room for a soundbar or speakers without blocking the screen or remote sensor.

Plan the stand, wall mount, and viewing height

Installation constraints can eliminate a model before picture preferences do. Product pages state the television’s dimensions, weight, stand arrangement, mounting compatibility, and cable locations. Accessories supplied with one series or size should not be assumed to be included with another.

Stand installation

Measure the furniture’s usable width and depth, not just its advertised width. Confirm where the feet sit and whether the stand has more than one position. Leave ventilation space and ensure the furniture can support the television’s weight without rocking. If a soundbar sits in front, check that it does not cover the lower edge or remote sensor.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Wall installation

Locate studs or use a mounting system rated for the television’s exact weight. Check the wall type, the mounting pattern specified for that code, and the required clearance for power and signal cables. A flush-looking premium design may need a different installation approach from a model with a conventional stand. Plan access to the inputs before the bracket is tightened; an inaccessible port can turn a simple device change into a remounting job.

Viewing height and reflections

With the main viewer seated, keep the centre of the picture near a natural eye line. Raising a large screen above a fireplace often creates neck strain and puts the panel directly in the path of ceiling or window reflections. Mark the screen’s top and bottom with tape, sit down, and check both posture and glare at the times you normally watch.

Verify the exact regional model code

“C6” or “G6” identifies a family, not necessarily one universal product. The final code can encode screen size, tuner configuration, finish, retailer channel, or region. Before paying, compare the full code on the retailer listing with the full code on LG’s product page for your country.

  • Confirm the diagonal size and whether the listing is for the current model year.
  • Check the local tuner, broadcast, and smart-TV configuration.
  • Read the specification for refresh rate, VRR, HDR formats, audio outputs, and wireless features.
  • Verify dimensions with and without the stand, shipping box dimensions, and the supplied accessories.
  • Check warranty terms and who handles service in your country.

If a retailer lists only a series name and a photograph, treat missing details as unknown rather than assuming the US specification applies. LG’s own material warns indirectly through its market-specific lineups that availability is not universal.

Understand launch prices without treating them as today’s deal

LG Electronics USA’s March 5, 2026 announcement gave the C6 a starting MSRP of $1,399 and the G6 a starting MSRP of $2,499. Those are historical US launch MSRPs, not current offers, street prices, sale prices, or a guarantee that every size began at that amount. The announcement specifically quoted the C6 as available in 42-, 48-, 55-, 65-, 77-, and 83-inch sizes.

For a real purchase decision, compare the current local price for the exact code, then add the costs that are easy to miss:

  • Wall bracket or a replacement stand if the chosen configuration does not include one.
  • Professional installation, delivery, and old-TV removal.
  • Longer or higher-specification cables for a wall-mounted gaming setup.
  • A soundbar or receiver if the built-in audio does not suit the room.
  • Extended coverage only after reading its exclusions and service process.

Do not use the G6’s higher launch MSRP as proof that it will look better in every room. Its premium positioning may be valuable for your light level or gaming hardware, but a correctly sized C6 can be the better choice for a darker room or a narrower budget.

A decision path for common rooms

Small bedroom or office

Measure from the desk or bed, then check whether the 42- or 48-inch C6 fits without forcing an off-axis view. Consider glare from a monitor, window, and task lighting. If the TV doubles as a PC display, prioritize the exact refresh and VRR specification for that size and your graphics output.

Average living room

Use the main sofa distance and wall width to choose among the C6’s 55-, 65-, or 77-inch options where available. If daytime viewing is frequent, spend time on reflection control and placement before paying for a premium tier. A properly positioned screen can be more comfortable than a brighter model aimed at a window.

Large open-plan room

Check sightlines from every regular seat and the distance to the furthest one. The C6’s 83-inch size or the G6’s 83- and 97-inch sizes may fit a long viewing distance, but measure doorways, stair turns, lift capacity, and wall structure before ordering. Large-screen delivery and mounting often need two or more installers.

Dedicated gaming room

Match the TV to the PC or console first. A G6 can be attractive when its listed 4K 165Hz VRR, NVIDIA G-SYNC, and AMD FreeSync Premium compatibility align with your hardware. If the source cannot output those modes, choose based on size, latency information on the local specification page, room light, and total cost instead of the headline refresh number.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Choosing by diagonal alone

A larger screen can be uncomfortable at a short distance and physically impossible on a narrow wall. Measure the seat and the installation area together.

Assuming every size has every feature

Series-level marketing does not prove size-level equivalence. Recheck refresh rate, VRR, HDR formats, ports, stand hardware, and dimensions for the exact code.

Treating manufacturer claims as lab results

LG’s descriptions of B6, C6, and G6 tiers, and the “up to 3.9x” Brightness Booster Ultra statement, explain how LG positions the products. They do not establish independent brightness rankings, long-term reliability, or a universally best model.

Forgetting the room after buying

Reflections, viewing height, soundbar clearance, and cable access determine daily comfort. Mark the proposed installation and test it at the times you watch most.

Using a US recommendation in another country

The 2026 sizes, launch prices, tuners, and feature combinations described here are for LG’s US material unless stated otherwise. Use the relevant local LG page and retailer listing for your country.

Final selection checklist

  1. Measure the main seat-to-screen distance.
  2. Use LG’s room-size guide, including its 75-inch example of about 2.1–2.3 metres, as a starting point rather than a rule.
  3. Confirm the physical screen, stand, wall, doorway, and cable dimensions.
  4. Choose the tier: B6 for entry OLED, C6 for all-around use and broad US size choice, or G6 for LG’s premium bright-room and gaming positioning.
  5. Match refresh rate and VRR to your actual console or PC output.
  6. Verify the complete regional model code and every size-specific feature.
  7. Compare the current local total cost; treat the C6 $1,399 and G6 $2,499 figures as March 2026 US launch MSRPs only.
  8. Confirm installation hardware, warranty, delivery, and service before placing the order.

The best LG OLED is therefore the one whose size fits your measured distance and room, whose exact regional specification supports your devices, and whose price leaves room for the installation your space requires. The 2026 US C6 is the broadest general-purpose starting point, while the B6 and G6 make more sense when their entry-level or premium-room strengths match a specific need.
