For most people, the best first Bauer purchase is a complete 20V drill/driver kit with its battery and charger. It handles pilot holes, ordinary drilling, screws, furniture assembly, shelving and routine repairs. Add an impact driver when you regularly drive long screws or lag fasteners. Hammer drill/driver: masonry only when the model supports it
A hammer drill/driver is the Bauer category to consider for masonry drilling. The hammer action helps with suitable masonry bits, but the correct recommendation depends on the specific model’s stated capabilities and bit system. Confirm the product documentation before using it for concrete, brick or other heavy masonry; the category name alone does not establish the tool’s limits.
For a few small holes, check whether renting or borrowing a masonry-capable tool is more practical than buying one. If masonry work will recur, select the model whose published specifications match the diameter, material and depth you expect.
Circular saw: repeated straight cuts

An oscillating multi-tool reaches places a circular saw cannot. Typical uses include flush-cutting trim or fasteners, making plunge cuts, scraping and trimming around fittings. It is a problem-solving tool for awkward access and detail work, not a replacement for a saw when long, straight cuts are the main job.
The 2024 six-tool package includes a brushless oscillating multi-tool. If you buy a separate model, check which accessory interface and blades are supported and whether the bare tool includes an accessory set.
Blower, light, inflator and other specialty tools
Specialty Bauer tools make sense when the task recurs. A blower can handle regular cleanup, a portable light can illuminate work areas, and an inflator can be convenient for repeated tire or equipment checks. Do not let a low-frequency task dictate your first purchase. Establish the battery platform with a tool you will use often, then add specialty tools as a specific need appears.

Use the 1.5 Ah and 3 Ah capacities as package facts, not as promises of a particular number of holes, screws or cuts. Actual runtime varies with load, material, accessory, technique and battery condition.

Treating package capacity as a performance test
The 1.5 Ah and 3 Ah labels identify battery capacity, not a guaranteed workload. Avoid converting them into promised screw counts, cut lengths or operating hours.

- Clamp or support workpieces before drilling or cutting, and keep hands clear of the cutting path.
- Use eye protection and hearing protection appropriate to the operation; control dust and debris when the material requires it.
- Start pilot holes and fasteners at controlled speed, then increase pressure only while the bit remains aligned.
- For masonry, use a model and bit system explicitly rated for the material rather than assuming a standard drill/driver is suitable.
- Inspect batteries, chargers, cords and housings for damage before use. Stop if a battery becomes unusually hot, swollen or damaged and follow the product instructions.
Maintenance and platform planning
