The best 24-inch monitor depends on what you need it to do: choose for USB-C docking and adjustability for laptop work, higher refresh rates for gaming, touch for direct interaction, or basic Full HD for an affordable second screen. The examples below illustrate different trade-offs rather than a universal winner. “24-inch” commonly describes a class that includes displays with a 23.8-inch viewable area.
What to look for in a 24-inch monitor
Resolution and refresh rate
Compare resolution and refresh rate together. Full HD (1920 × 1080) is common in this size class, while a 1920 × 1200 display adds vertical workspace. Refresh rates also vary: current US Dell listings include 23.8-inch Full HD IPS models at 100 Hz and 120 Hz, as well as a 24.1-inch 1920 × 1200 IPS model at 100 Hz. For office work, consider whether the extra vertical pixels of 1920 × 1200 would help with documents and code. For gaming, match the refresh rate to the games you play and the frame rates your computer can deliver; a higher listed refresh rate alone does not guarantee a better experience.
Ports and laptop charging
Check that the monitor’s inputs match your computer and the way you plan to connect it. USB-C can carry video, data, and power, but features differ by model. Confirm the supported power delivery and port behavior in the exact model’s specifications before expecting one cable to connect and charge a laptop. HDMI and DisplayPort are useful alternatives, while a built-in USB hub can simplify connecting accessories.

Brightness, color, and eye-comfort claims
Brightness and color-gamut figures help describe a display, but do not establish that it is suitable for every room or color-critical task. Eye-care features such as blue-light reduction or flicker-free operation are manufacturer descriptions, not proof that a monitor prevents eye strain. Start with the refresh rate your computer can realistically support in your games. Dell’s listed 100 Hz and 120 Hz Full HD options show that refresh rates above 60 Hz are available in this size class; the 24.1-inch 1920 × 1200, 100 Hz option is another trade-off between vertical workspace and gaming refresh rate. Check the full specification for the exact model rather than assuming all monitors in a product family share the same panel or stand.
