Oligo and oligo-conjugate characterization starts with choosing the measurement that answers the question: UV/Vis for concentration, DLS for hydrodynamic size or aggregation signals, and viscosity measurement for flow behavior. These outputs are related but not interchangeable. Unchained Labs describes Stunner as combining UV/Vis and DLS, while Honeybun is its viscosity instrument; the manufacturer’s materials do not establish Honeybun performance on oligo samples.
Start by defining the result you need
Characterization is not one measurement. A concentration result helps establish how much material is present; a conjugation analysis can estimate component concentrations and their ratio; DLS provides a size-related signal; viscosity describes resistance to flow. Select the method based on the downstream decision, rather than treating any one result as a complete description of an oligo or conjugate.

Why concentration factors deserve attention
The advertised webinar presents concentration-factor selection as a critical first step in oligo quantification. This matters because concentration is an input to downstream assays and decisions: an error or unsuitable factor can carry forward into later interpretation. The listing does not provide a universal factor for oligos, so the appropriate choice must be established for the specific oligo and measurement approach rather than assumed from a generic value.
The webinar listing, published ahead of its scheduled November 12, 2026 broadcast, announces a discussion of concentration factors; it does not report completed findings or prescribe a single calculation. It also identifies Kevin Lance, PhD, Director of Product Management at Unchained Labs, as the presenter.

What Stunner combines—and what its throughput figures mean
Unchained Labs positions Stunner as a plate-based system combining UV/Vis quantification and DLS. Its 2024 Rev B biologics brochure recommends a 2 µL sample and lists capacity for 96 samples per plate. The manufacturer specifies about 10 minutes for UV/Vis measurement of a full plate and about one hour for full-plate UV/Vis plus DLS. These are vendor specifications, not independently reproduced oligo-specific performance results.
The combination can be useful when concentration and size-related questions need to be considered within one workflow. It does not make the outputs interchangeable: DLS does not replace a concentration measurement, and neither UV/Vis nor DLS supplies viscosity data.

What UV/Vis deconvolution can show for a conjugate
The brochure describes Stunner Unmix analysis for antibody conjugates and shows an antibody-oligo example. The graphic reports an antibody concentration of 0.7 mg/mL, an oligo concentration of 217 ng/µL, and an Ab-oligo ratio of 1.4. Those figures are illustrative outputs from the manufacturer’s example, not expected values for other samples and not a general accuracy claim.

Interpret DLS cautiously for flexible or sticky oligos
The webinar listing explicitly raises the challenge that oligos can be flexible and sticky and asks what DLS can and cannot tell users across nucleic-acid lengths through mRNA. That is a reason to treat DLS as a targeted size-related measurement, not an automatic pass/fail test for every nucleic-acid construct. The listing provides no specific size cutoffs, validation criteria, or oligo-specific performance data, so none should be inferred from it.
Before relying on a DLS result, define the sample and the decision the measurement is meant to support. A size-related signal may be relevant to aggregation or formulation questions, but its interpretation for a flexible or adhesive nucleic-acid construct requires context beyond the instrument category alone.
Keep viscosity separate from concentration and sizing
Honeybun is categorized by Unchained Labs as a viscosity instrument. The webinar listing connects viscosity data to concentrated formulation and subcutaneous-delivery questions. Those are distinct from determining concentration with UV/Vis or a hydrodynamic-size-related signal with DLS: formulation flow behavior needs a viscosity measurement.

The reviewed materials do not independently demonstrate Honeybun performance on oligo samples. Its relevance to an oligo workflow should therefore be treated as a question to evaluate for the specific formulation, rather than an established oligo-specific capability.

- Set the decision. Specify whether you need component concentration, conjugation ratio, a size-related or aggregation signal, or viscosity for a formulation question.
- Choose the corresponding output. Use UV/Vis for optical quantification and relevant spectral analysis, DLS for a size-related signal, and a viscosity instrument for flow behavior. Plan separate measurements when the decision requires more than one output.
- Establish the concentration factors. Select factors for the particular oligo and quantification approach; do not treat the webinar listing as a source of a universal factor.
- For conjugates, verify the scope of the analysis. Distinguish illustrative example outputs from validation for your construct, and confirm that the method addresses the components and ratio you need.
- For DLS, define interpretation limits in advance. Flexible or sticky nucleic acids may complicate interpretation; the listing does not supply universal cutoffs or acceptance criteria.
- For concentrated formulations, ask a viscosity question directly. Do not substitute UV/Vis concentration or DLS sizing for a viscosity result.
