The Nikon D5600 self-timer offers four shutter delays—2, 5, 10, or 20 seconds—and can be set to take 1–9 exposures. For the exact button presses and menu labels, consult the official D5600 Reference Manual; the available manual specifications confirm the options but not the control sequence.
What the D5600 self-timer lets you choose
The D5600 provides four delay settings: 2, 5, 10, or 20 seconds. It also lets you choose how many exposures to make, from 1 to 9. Delay and exposure count are separate settings: the delay determines how long the camera waits before taking pictures, while the count determines how many exposures it makes.

How to find the exact setting on your camera
Nikon’s D5600 manuals are available from its Download Center. Open the D5600 Reference Manual and look for the self-timer or release-mode instructions to follow the camera’s exact button and menu sequence. Regional English User’s Manuals are listed there as well. Since the available technical specifications establish the options but not the operating steps, this guide does not guess at menu labels or button presses.

Choosing the number of exposures
Set the exposure count from 1 to 9 according to how many frames you want the camera to make after the timer delay. For a single self-timed picture, choose one exposure; choose a higher count when you want multiple frames. The D5600’s published specifications establish this range but do not establish the interval between exposures.
Firmware and model-specific details
Nikon’s Download Center listed D5600 firmware C:Ver.1.20, released December 17, 2024, when checked. That listing is support information, not an indication that a firmware update is required to use the self-timer. These settings apply to the D5600; check the relevant manual before assuming another Nikon camera has the same options.
