The vivo X300 FE is the more capable, compact phone on paper, while the Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G is a budget option with a bigger screen, expandable storage and a headphone jack. In India, their launch prices were far apart: the M17e started at ₹13,999, while the X300 FE started at ₹84,999. Choose based on whether the vivo’s higher-spec display, processor and cameras justify the extra cost for you.
India prices and configurations
These are India-market prices, not a like-for-like comparison of identical storage. Samsung’s cited M17e configurations include 128GB; the X300 FE variants begin at 256GB. Launch prices are historical and can differ from current offers.

Samsung announced the M17e on 18 March 2026, with sales scheduled to begin on 20 March through Samsung.com, Amazon and selected retailers. vivo said its X300 FE would be available from 12 August 2026 and named Amazon among its India sales channels. Check the live listing and exact configuration before buying: launch prices and store offers are not interchangeable.

What the differences mean in everyday use
Size, screen and performance
The X300 FE is the smaller phone, with a 6.31-inch AMOLED panel and substantially higher listed resolution. The M17e’s 6.7-inch-class LCD gives you a larger viewing area, but at 720×1600. If you want a compact device and sharper-looking display specifications, the vivo is the clearer fit; if screen size matters more than resolution or display type, the Samsung has the advantage in size.
The listed processors also put the phones in different specification tiers. The X300 FE’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is the higher-end chip by positioning and published specs, but those figures alone do not establish real-world speed, thermals or gaming performance. No comparable independent benchmark result is established here.
Cameras
The X300 FE offers three distinct rear-camera roles: main, telephoto and ultrawide, with OIS listed for the main and telephoto cameras. Its 50 MP autofocus selfie camera also has a higher stated resolution than the M17e’s 8 MP front camera. The Samsung lists a 50 MP main and 2 MP secondary/depth camera, without OIS listed in the cited specifications.
These specifications indicate more camera hardware and flexibility on the vivo, especially if you want a telephoto lens. They do not prove that it produces better photos in every setting; that requires comparable testing.

Battery and charging
Both manufacturers list large typical battery capacities: 6500 mAh for vivo and 6000 mAh for Samsung. vivo documents 90 W wired charging when using the original charger and cable, and its newsroom announcement also states 40 W wireless charging. The cited Samsung specifications do not give a charging wattage. Capacity and charging figures do not establish which phone lasts longer between charges; no comparative runtime test is available here.
Storage, audio and connectivity
The Samsung is the practical choice if you rely on a microSD card or wired headphones: it supports cards up to 2TB through a hybrid SIM/microSD slot and includes a 3.5 mm stereo jack. The X300 FE’s cited specifications do not list expandable storage, but do list eSIM support. vivo’s e-store says a phone case is included in the box.

The published commitments differ in duration and type. vivo states five years of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. Samsung states six OS upgrades and six years of security updates; its India product page gives a security-update period through 31 January 2032. These are manufacturer policies, not a guarantee that each upgrade arrives on a particular date. Neither policy is simply “more support” without deciding whether OS-version upgrades or the security-update period matters more to you.

Choose the vivo X300 FE if
- You want a smaller phone with a higher-resolution AMOLED display.
- You value the X300 FE’s higher-tier listed processor and are willing to pay substantially more.
- You want a dedicated telephoto camera, OIS on the main and telephoto cameras, or a 50 MP autofocus selfie camera.
- You want the longer stated security-update period, or wireless charging as listed by vivo.
Choose the Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G if
- Keeping the purchase price low is your main priority.
- You prefer a larger display and a 6000 mAh typical battery.
- You need microSD expansion or a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
- You prefer Samsung’s published six OS-upgrade commitment over vivo’s five, while accepting the shorter stated security-update period.
The M17e is not a cheaper substitute with the same hardware: it trades down in display resolution, listed camera versatility and processor tier, while adding useful budget-phone conveniences. The X300 FE costs far more, and its higher specifications matter most if you will use them.
