The Motorola Signature is a conventional flagship phone; the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is a foldable with a cover screen and a larger inner display. That form-factor choice matters more than a simple screen-size comparison. Samsung’s US page lists the Fold8 Ultra from $2,099.99 before trade-in, but the Motorola specification page reviewed here does not publish a price, so an exact price difference cannot be established from these sources.

Motorola Signature vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra specs comparison

How the different form factors change the choice

Choose a conventional phone for one-screen portability

The Signature’s 6.8-inch display is a single large phone screen. Its listed 165Hz maximum refresh rate may appeal if a high-refresh display is a priority, but that number is a manufacturer specification, not a measure of real-world smoothness across every app or use case.

Choose the foldable for a larger opened screen

The Fold8 Ultra’s 6.5-inch cover display is close in diagonal size to the Signature’s screen, while its 8-inch main display gives you more room when opened. That can suit reading, viewing media, or working with content on a larger surface. The trade-off is carrying a foldable device rather than a conventional phone; display diagonals alone do not tell you which will feel more convenient in a pocket or hand.

Performance, storage, battery, and cameras

Performance

Motorola identifies the Signature’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X memory. Samsung’s cited page uses an “Ultra performance” description but does not provide directly comparable chip and RAM details in the evidence available here. There is no established head-to-head benchmark, so these facts do not support a claim that one phone is faster.

Storage

The Signature is listed with 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Samsung lists Fold8 Ultra configurations up to 1TB and says the phone does not support an SD card. Compare the exact storage tier available in your market rather than assuming the two phones’ base configurations match.

Battery and charging

Motorola lists a 5,200mAh battery, 90W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not establish battery life or charging time in everyday use. A directly comparable Fold8 Ultra battery and charging specification is not given by the cited Samsung page, so a numerical comparison would be unsupported.

Cameras

Motorola lists a 50MP main camera, an ultrawide camera, and a periscope telephoto camera. Samsung highlights a 50MP ultra-wide camera and 8K capture on its wide and ultra-wide cameras. Those selected specifications do not provide a complete, like-for-like comparison of focal lengths, stabilization, image quality, or video results.

Which is better, Motorola Signature or Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra?

Neither is the universal winner: choose based on whether a conventional smartphone or an expandable inner display better fits your routine. The Signature’s listed configuration provides a clear conventional-phone option, while the Fold8 Ultra’s defining feature is its two-screen foldable format. The available specifications do not establish an overall performance, camera, or battery-life winner.

What is the price difference?

Samsung’s US purchase page lists the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra starting at $2,099.99 before trade-in, as shown on the page accessed October 7, 2026. That is a US starting price, not a universal price or guaranteed checkout total. Trade-in credits, carrier offers, taxes, and promotions can change what a buyer pays.

The Motorola official specifications page cited here does not state a purchase price. As a result, these sources do not establish the price difference. A fair comparison needs current official prices for both phones in the same country and currency, with equivalent storage configurations and the same treatment of promotions and trade-ins; no numeric gap should be inferred without that match.
