Choose GoDaddy if you want the managed WordPress features listed on its product page, including automatic updates and daily backups. Choose TMDHosting if you prefer cPanel and LiteSpeed, want to consider its listed server locations, or need transfer assistance—but check the backup allowance for the exact plan. Neither provider’s promotional pricing or performance claims establishes which will cost less or run faster for your site.

Compare the same kind of hosting first

These providers offer different hosting setups, so a brand-to-brand comparison can be misleading. GoDaddy’s shared hosting and managed WordPress are separate products. TMDHosting lists both shared and WordPress plans, with cPanel-based tools and tier-dependent backups. Compare shared with shared, or WordPress with WordPress, and decide whether you want the host to manage routine WordPress tasks.

Decision point GoDaddy TMDHosting
Example entry-level shared offer US Economy: $6.99 per month for the first one-year term; one website and 25 GB NVMe storage are listed. Shared Starter: $9.52 per month with triennial payment; $11.90 per month is also displayed. One website and 50 GB SSD space are listed.
WordPress management Managed WordPress page lists automatic core updates, daily backups, malware scanning and removal, a web application firewall, DDoS protection, and CDN-related features. WordPress tools include staging and cloning, cPanel tools, and automatic WordPress version updates.
Backup listing Daily backups are listed for managed WordPress. GoDaddy’s agreement says subscription backup services end when the hosting subscription is cancelled. Starter lists no backups; Business and Enterprise list 30 backup copies.
Hosting environment US shared hosting lists cPanel. Managed WordPress is a separate product. cPanel, LiteSpeed, CloudLinux, multiple PHP versions, and SSL are listed.
Migration and support A DIY WordPress migration tool is listed. Free website transfer and 24/7/365 support are described.
Server locations Managed WordPress material describes regionally optimized data centers but does not provide a comparable selectable-location list. WordPress hosting lists Chicago, London, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Singapore, and Sydney.

Prices and included offers are market- and term-sensitive. These displayed rates do not establish comparable checkout totals or renewal costs. Confirm the billing market, commitment, renewal amount, taxes, and add-ons before buying. GoDaddy’s US shared-hosting page and TMDHosting’s shared-plan page show the cited offers.

When GoDaddy is the better fit

GoDaddy is the more natural fit if you want a managed WordPress product rather than only a control panel and hosting account. Its managed WordPress page lists automatic core updates, daily backups, malware scanning and removal, a web application firewall, DDoS protection, and CDN-related performance features. These are vendor-described features, not independent findings about how well they perform.

Backup continuity needs attention: GoDaddy’s Hosting Agreement says backup services associated with a hosting subscription are cancelled if that subscription is cancelled. Keep an independent copy of your site that you control, and check the plan’s backup retention and restore process before relying on the included service. GoDaddy’s managed WordPress page describes the plan features; the Hosting Agreement, last revised 30 September 2026, explains the subscription relationship.

When TMDHosting is the better fit

TMDHosting may suit site owners who want cPanel-centered tools, LiteSpeed, CloudLinux, multiple PHP versions, and a listed data-center region. Its WordPress-hosting page describes staging and cloning, WordPress tools in cPanel, automatic version updates, free transfer, SSL, and support. Confirm that the location you want is selectable for the specific plan and intended audience; a location list on the WordPress page does not establish availability on every plan.

Check the backup tier, not just the brand

TMDHosting’s entry-level Starter shared and WordPress plans say “No Backups.” Business and Enterprise list 30 backup copies. Do not assume the higher-tier allowance applies to Starter, or that “30 copies” alone tells you the retention schedule or restore procedure. Verify frequency, retention, restoration terms, and whether you can export a separate copy. See the shared plans and WordPress plans.

How to compare the real cost

The cited GoDaddy rate is for a first one-year term on its US shared-hosting page. TMDHosting’s $9.52 monthly Starter rate is tied to triennial payment, while the same page also displays $11.90 per month. A monthly equivalent is not the same as the amount due at checkout, and the offers do not reveal a like-for-like renewal comparison.

  1. Choose the same country or market for both providers.
  2. Match the product type: shared hosting to shared hosting, or WordPress hosting to WordPress hosting.
  3. Match the initial billing term and compare the total charged at checkout, not only the monthly equivalent.
  4. Check the renewal rate, taxes, optional add-ons, and any offer conditions.
  5. Compare the site count, storage, backup provision, and migration scope against what your project actually needs.

How much weight to give speed and uptime claims

Both providers’ reviewed pages state a 99.9% uptime guarantee. GoDaddy also advertises performance up to twice faster, and TMDHosting lists LiteSpeed. These are vendor statements, not independent head-to-head measurements; they do not show that one provider is faster or more reliable for your workload. Read the guarantee terms that apply to the exact plan rather than treating the headline percentage as observed uptime. GoDaddy’s statements appear on its managed WordPress page; TMDHosting’s appear on its shared-hosting page.

Use this decision checklist before checkout

  • Confirm the exact plan and whether it is shared or managed WordPress hosting.
  • Write down the initial term, total checkout charge, renewal amount, taxes, and add-ons.
  • Confirm how many websites the plan supports and the storage allowance.
  • For backups, verify frequency, retention, restore process, and what happens after cancellation; maintain an independent copy.
  • Ask what the included migration covers and whether support is available through the channel you need.
  • Check which data-center locations are selectable on your specific plan.
  • Do not make the decision from performance or uptime marketing claims alone.
