There is no universal winner. A PS5 bundle is the better buy only when its complete checkout cost is lower than the same console edition, the same game edition and format, and any accessories you actually need. Compare the prices in the same country and at the same time, then account for shipping, applicable taxes, the bundle’s disc-or-download format, and the personal value of extras such as a second controller.
The most important check is the console itself. PlayStation lists a 1TB PS5 that plays PS5 and PS4 games on Blu-ray discs and an 825GB Digital Edition with no disc drive. A game voucher in a bundle does not turn a digital console into a disc-capable one, and an optional drive is compatible only with specified slim Digital Edition model groups.

Start with a like-for-like comparison
Write down the exact bundle and the exact separate-purchase combination before deciding. The comparison is valid only when the two options use the same market, console edition, game edition, game format and purchase date. A disc-console bundle is not equivalent to a Digital Edition bundle, and a full-game download voucher is not equivalent to a boxed disc if the buyer needs a disc drive.
Use one retailer and one currency where possible. Record the amount shown at checkout rather than relying on a headline price: shipping and applicable taxes can change the result. Console inventory and promotions move quickly, so prices seen on different days can describe different offers.

Storage figures and model descriptions are market- and model-specific. A listing’s name, photograph or storage number is not enough to establish drive compatibility; open the technical details and record the model group.
Read what game included actually means
Retailers use phrases such as game included for more than one delivery format. Look for an explicit statement that the package contains a physical disc or a full-game voucher. A voucher normally means you redeem a code and download the game; it is not a disc hidden in the console box.
The official UK listing for the 825GB Digital Edition EA SPORTS FC 26 bundle identifies the game as a full-game voucher that must be downloaded. It also advertises a claimed saving of £69.99 versus buying the items separately. That is a UK offer from Sony Interactive Entertainment / PlayStation Direct on a page accessed 13 October 2026, not a market-wide statistic; the live price, stock and terms can change. The same UK page also provides a bundle option for the 1TB disc console. Do not assume that the game format, storage, drive or price is identical between those options. Treat each option as a separate configuration in your worksheet.
Calculate the real difference step by step
- Capture the bundle checkout total. Record the console, game, included extras, shipping and applicable taxes for your country. If a promotion is conditional, record the condition as well.
- Price the matching console alone. Use the same edition, storage capacity and model group. A Digital Edition cannot be substituted for a disc-capable PS5 merely because both are called PS5.

The included title has value only when it is a game you would choose at the bundle’s format and edition. If the title is already in your library, unwanted value should be treated as zero for your personal calculation. If you wanted a different edition, use the price of that edition in the separate-purchase comparison instead.
The format matches the console and your use
A download voucher is straightforward with a Digital Edition. A physical disc bundle is straightforward with the 1TB disc-capable PS5. If the bundle and your preferred format disagree, add the compatible drive or reject the bundle; do not let the advertised saving hide a hardware mismatch.
Included extras replace a purchase you would make
An extra controller can materially improve value when you need one for local multiplayer or a replacement. You need a different console edition
If you expect to use discs, a Digital Edition bundle may require a separately purchased compatible drive. Add that accessory before comparing totals. The separate game is temporarily cheaper
