To find which saves more, compare the final checkout price for the same product, configuration, seller, and base price—with each offer applied under its actual terms. Then account for the old item you give up in an exchange. The offer with the bigger headline number is not necessarily the better deal.
What each offer actually saves
Credit-card discount
A card discount is tied to an eligible card and purchase. The amount you receive can depend on the product or SKU, seller, transaction value, discount cap, payment method, and campaign dates. Some offers require a specific EMI option or payment flow. A banner alone does not confirm that your card or order qualifies.
Exchange offer
An exchange applies a value to an eligible old product. Use the value the retailer actually accepts—not just an estimate—and check whether any exchange bonus is conditional on the model, condition, inspection, or handover process. You also give up the old item, so its value to you or its potential sale value elsewhere matters.

- Fix the comparison. Use the same new product, exact configuration, seller, and base price for both options.
- Calculate the card price. Check eligible card variants, product exclusions, minimum spend, discount cap, required payment method or EMI tenure, campaign dates, and whether the offer can be combined with other benefits.
- Calculate the exchange price. Confirm that your old item qualifies, obtain the value after entering required details or completing any inspection, and check the terms for any exchange bonus and handover.
- Recheck the card offer after exchange. If you want to combine the offers, determine whether the card discount is calculated on the amount left to pay and whether that card-paid amount meets any minimum. SBI Card’s terms for an Amazon campaign, for example, required the amount paid by card after exchange to meet a threshold for that campaign (SBI Card’s Amazon offer terms).
- Compare the totals shown before ordering. Treat a benefit as part of the deal only if it appears in the checkout total and the terms allow it. Do not add advertised discount and exchange figures unless both apply together.
- Value the old item you surrender. If you have a separate resale estimate, compare it with the accepted exchange value, while allowing for the effort and uncertainty of selling yourself. There is no universal resale price or inspection rule established for all retailers.
Can you use a bank discount with an exchange offer?
Sometimes, but stacking depends on the specific campaign and checkout rules. A discount may apply only to the amount charged to the card after exchange, or require that amount to clear a minimum. Croma’s terms say customers must select the issuing bank offer at payment to receive its instant discount (Croma bank-offer terms). Amazon’s promotion help also describes campaign qualifications such as minimum purchase values and specified catalogue selections; it is seller-facing guidance, not a guarantee that a particular consumer order qualifies (Amazon promotion help).
Check the offer terms and the checkout summary for your exact order. If the discount disappears when you select exchange, or the card-paid amount falls below a stated threshold, do not count on receiving both.

Which saves more after exchange?
Compare the effective cost of each choice, not just the checkout reduction. For a card-only purchase, start with the price after the discount. For an exchange purchase, subtract the accepted exchange value from the purchase price, then consider what the old item is worth to you or what you could reasonably receive by selling it separately. If both offers stack, calculate the checkout amount after both and apply any qualifying-spend rules.
Also compare certainty and payment terms. A confirmed card discount may be easier to calculate than an exchange value that depends on inspection. If the card route requires EMI, include the relevant EMI terms and costs rather than treating the advertised discount as the entire saving.

Why headline examples are not a reliable guide
Promotions are specific to a campaign, product, seller, card, and payment flow. For instance, SBI Card advertised a 10% instant discount in an Amazon campaign that ran from 18 August to 18 September 2026; the campaign is expired. Its terms included a threshold for the card-paid amount after exchange (SBI Card’s Amazon offer terms). A separate SBI Card offer for Bajaj Electronics ran from 18 July to 31 August 2026 and required a specified Bank EMI flow; it too is expired (SBI Card’s Bajaj Electronics offer terms).
ICICI Bank’s iPhone for Life page described a time-limited scheme for specified products and stores, with a Servify buyback option and an exchange bonus through Cashify advertised up to ₹6,000. That offer ended on 26 September 2026, so it is a historical example, not a current recommendation (ICICI Bank’s iPhone for Life offer). None of these campaign figures establishes which option will save more on a different purchase.

Before you place the order
- Confirm the exact item, seller, price, card, and exchange device match the terms you are checking.
- Look for minimum transaction amounts, caps, exclusions, required EMI choices, offer dates, and stacking rules.
- Use the accepted exchange value, not an unconfirmed estimate, and check the handover conditions.
- Read the checkout summary with each option selected; make sure the expected discounts appear before placing the order.
- Choose the option with the lower effective cost after accounting for the old item and any payment-plan costs—not the largest advertised saving.
