You can order a Bluehost Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS) with WooCommerce (WordPress) selected for installation during checkout. Choose a plan, configure its location and hardware, select WooCommerce in the Software step, then review billing and the order before confirming. Check the live signup and renewal costs and the server’s compatibility with WooCommerce before you buy.
What the purchase-time WooCommerce installation includes
Bluehost’s documented VDS order flow lets you select WooCommerce (WordPress) as the application during the initial purchase. Bluehost says the system selects the operating system for the chosen application, and the purchase allows only one application installation. If WooCommerce is not available for the selected plan, the plan does not meet the flow’s minimum requirements. The selected application is an installation route, not a substitute for checking software versions, setting up HTTPS, or maintaining WordPress and WooCommerce. If you already have WordPress, or prefer to add the store later, WooCommerce can be installed from the WordPress dashboard.

- Open the VDS plans. Visit Bluehost’s VDS hosting page from its purchase guide and choose a Standard or High Performance plan that fits your needs.
- Configure the server. Select a data center location and review the hardware options shown for the plan.
- Select the application. In the Software step, choose WooCommerce (WordPress). If the option is unavailable, select a plan that meets its displayed minimum requirements.
- Review additional options. Check the support, security, and advanced options presented in the order flow, including any recurring add-ons or extra fees that matter to you.
- Choose the billing term and inspect the order. Confirm the term, price, selected application, location, hardware, and other options before placing the order.
- Wait for provisioning and access the portal. After purchase, use the Bluehost Portal to manage the hosting and continue configuring the store.
Check the price and renewal terms before paying
Bluehost says its prices can change. The signup offer is shown on its VDS page, while renewal pricing is available in the portal’s Renewal Center. Check both against the billing term in your order rather than relying on an older advertised figure. The order flow also presents optional support or security services and may offer extra IP addresses for an additional fee; review whether those options are selected and whether charges recur. Bluehost’s guide describes these purchase choices but does not establish comparative value against other hosting providers.

Verify WooCommerce compatibility before choosing a server
For WooCommerce 10.8 and later, WooCommerce publishes these server requirements and recommendations. Confirm the versions available on the VDS you are ordering; the application selection alone does not show that every setting will remain current or suit your store’s extensions.

These version figures are WooCommerce’s requirements for version 10.8 and later, not a guarantee about the software Bluehost will install or keep updated. Recheck the WooCommerce server recommendations when ordering, especially if you use extensions or integrations. WooCommerce notes that optional components can depend on the store: cURL or fsockopen, SOAP for some extensions, multibyte string support for non-English stores, permalink support, and specified global SQL modes.

Do not treat older baselines as a safe purchase target just because they may still function. WooCommerce warns that PHP 7.4+ and MySQL 5.6+ (or MariaDB 10.4+) are end-of-life and may expose sites to security vulnerabilities. WordPress.org also recommends Apache or Nginx and advises running PHP applications under the account’s username rather than the server’s default shared username. See WordPress requirements.
Set up HTTPS for checkout and customer data
WooCommerce says SSL is necessary when transmitting sensitive information such as customer addresses and card numbers. A free certificate may be available through the hosting provider or Let’s Encrypt; paid certificates are another option. After SSL is configured, make sure the WordPress and site URLs use https://. Follow WooCommerce’s SSL and HTTPS guidance, and confirm the certificate works before accepting customer information.

Install WooCommerce after purchase if needed
If WooCommerce was not selected during the VDS order, or you want to add it to an existing WordPress site, use the WordPress admin dashboard. WooCommerce’s installation instructions are at Installing and Uninstalling WooCommerce.
- In WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
- Search for WooCommerce, then choose Install.
- Choose Activate. The WooCommerce Setup Wizard opens so you can configure the store.
WooCommerce recommends using current software and keeping backups and a staging environment for updates. Its getting-started guide also describes pre-installed hosting, automatic installation, and manual plugin installation as possible ways to begin; a VDS is not the only hosting route.

Is a VDS the right choice for your store?
Choose based on the workload and responsibilities you want, not simply because an installer is available. A VDS order requires you to review configurable hardware and location, the application setup, optional services, and billing details. Before committing, determine who will handle operating-system, PHP, and database updates, backups and recovery, and resource changes; the purchase guide does not specify those responsibilities in detail. If you want a simpler starting route, WooCommerce notes that many hosts offer one-click WordPress installation and outlines pre-installed, auto-install, and manual options in its getting-started documentation.
