The OPPO Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s currently tie for the longest explicit support commitment found in OPPO’s official material: five years of operating-system updates and six years of security updates. OPPO India stated those periods in its May 21, 2026 Find X9 Series announcement. The tie applies to the commitment stated for those models; it does not guarantee identical delivery in every country, storage variant or carrier channel. OPPO says update timing can vary by region and model, so confirm the local terms before buying.
The short answer: which OPPO phone lasts longest?
Choose between the Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s if software longevity is your first priority. OPPO India’s May 21, 2026 announcement gives both phones five years of OS updates and six years of security updates with ColorOS 16. OPPO’s Netherlands launch material independently gives the Find X9 Ultra the same five-year OS and six-year security commitment for its 12GB + 512GB configuration.
Those durations are the longest explicit commitments located in OPPO’s official sources for this guide. They are not a universal OPPO policy for every current or future phone. OPPO’s UK security page says its table is reference information, that applicability depends on the actual model and updates received, and that delivery times may differ by country or model.

Do not turn the figures into an exact support end date. The reviewed material gives durations but does not establish whether OPPO starts counting from announcement, launch, first sale, activation or another event for each market. Ask OPPO or the retailer for the applicable start point for the exact regional model.

What “software support” includes
OS updates
OS updates are major Android and ColorOS upgrades. They can add system features, change the interface, update privacy controls and alter compatibility with apps. A promise of five years of OS updates is a count of major operating-system releases, not a promise that every feature will work identically on every hardware configuration.
Security updates
Security updates patch vulnerabilities in Android, ColorOS and device components. They are separate from major OS upgrades. The Find X9 commitment therefore means five years of major OS changes plus a sixth year in which security fixes are promised, rather than six years of major Android versions.
Feature drops and app support
Manufacturers may deliver feature updates, camera improvements or artificial-intelligence functions on schedules that do not match the major OS cycle. App developers set their own Android-version requirements as well. A long security period reduces security risk, but it cannot guarantee that every future app or service will support an older phone.
How to choose an OPPO phone for maximum support
- Identify the exact model and market. Record the full name, storage configuration, region code and whether the phone is sold directly by OPPO, a retailer or a carrier. “Find X9” is not precise enough if the Ultra and X9s have different terms or if a carrier variant is involved.
- Find a model-specific support statement. Prefer an OPPO announcement or product page that names both the OS and security periods. A series-level statement should not be applied to every phone in that family without confirmation.
- Separate the two clocks. Write the OS duration and security duration in different columns. A phone advertised with four OS upgrades and five years of patches is not equivalent to one with five OS years and six security years.
- Check the regional page. Open the OPPO website for the country where you will use the phone and look for the model’s support or security-update information. OPPO warns that delivery can vary by country, region and model.
- Confirm the configuration. The Netherlands material specifies the Find X9 Ultra’s 12GB + 512GB configuration. Do not assume that a different memory or storage version, imported model or carrier edition has exactly the same wording.
- Ask for the counting rule if the end date matters. Request the support start event in writing. Without that information, adding five or six years to an announcement date creates a false precision.
- Compare the hardware after support is tied. When two phones have the same stated durations, choose based on local price, warranty, size, weight, camera requirements, performance, storage and availability rather than software years alone.
The two longest-supported OPPO phones
OPPO Find X9 Ultra
The Find X9 Ultra is one of the two models tied for the longest published commitment. OPPO India’s May 2026 announcement states five years of OS updates and six years of security updates for the Find X9 Series. OPPO Netherlands’ 2026 launch announcement gives the Find X9 Ultra the same periods for the 12GB + 512GB configuration. Use the Ultra when its size, camera system, performance, storage and price fit your needs. The support duration by itself does not prove that it is better overall than the Find X9s. Check the local version before importing one, because an overseas configuration may have different network bands, warranty coverage, software channel or sale status.
For India-specific availability, OPPO said the phone would be available from May 26 through the OPPO e-store, Flipkart, Amazon and mainline retailers in its announcement. OPPO Find X9s
The Find X9s ties the Ultra at five years of OS updates and six years of security updates in the same OPPO India announcement. Because the support figures are equal, your decision should focus on the exact hardware and price offered in your market. OPPO’s announcement describes different device specifications and configurations, but the available material does not provide a complete neutral side-by-side test that would justify declaring one model universally superior.

Before buying, compare display dimensions and weight, camera hardware, processor performance, battery and charging specifications, storage, warranty and the actual model number. Also confirm that the seller’s listing refers to the Find X9s rather than another Find X9-series model.

Why the Reno13 and older promises should not be treated as equivalent
Reno13 Series: three OS years and four security years
OPPO India’s January 9, 2025 Reno13 Series announcement lists three years of OS updates and four years of security updates. That is a shorter model-specific commitment than the Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s. It is a useful warning against assuming that a newer Reno phone automatically receives the flagship family’s support period. The announcement is available at OPPO India’s Reno13 Series launch page.
Selected flagships announced in 2022
In December 2022, OPPO Global said it would guarantee “four major ColorOS updates with 5 years of security patches for global users on selected flagship models starting in 2023.” The limiting words matter: selected flagship models does not mean every Find phone, every region or every model launched from 2023 onward. The 2021 policy was broader in wording but shorter in duration
OPPO’s October 2021 ColorOS 12 announcement described three major Android updates for flagship Find X models, two for Reno, F, K and some A models, and one for some low-memory A models. It described four years of security patches for Find X and three years for Reno, F, K and A. Find X Lite and Find X Neo were exceptions to the three-update Find X commitment, and the policy did not apply to carrier models. How to verify support before you pay
Use OPPO’s security-period page as a policy reference
OPPO UK’s Product Security Update Period page, accessed October 13, 2026, says: “For the Smartphones and Tablets, we pledge to provide security updates for a minimum of three (3) years; for the Audio, a minimum of one (1) year; and for the Wearables, a minimum of two (2) years following the product launch.” The page is at OPPO UK Product Security Update Period.

This wording is a floor for the page’s stated scope, not proof that every model receives the same period. OPPO also says the page is for reference, model applicability is subject to the actual updates received, and delivery times may vary by region or model. A named five- or six-year commitment for your exact phone is stronger evidence than relying only on the three-year baseline.
Check the product and retailer listing
- Match the model name, model number, RAM and storage to OPPO’s regional page.
- Look for separate OS-update and security-update figures; reject listings that say only “long-term support.”
- Check whether the seller is offering an imported or carrier model.
- Save a copy of the support statement and purchase receipt in case the listing changes.
- Ask customer support which date starts the support period and whether the commitment applies to your country and variant.
Verify update status after setup
Once the phone is activated, open Settings and use the system-update screen to check the installed ColorOS and Android versions, security-patch date and available updates. Menu names can differ by ColorOS release, so use the Settings search field for “software update” or “security update” if the path is not identical. A phone’s current patch date confirms what it has received; it does not by itself establish the promised end date.

The available official excerpts establish the support durations, not a complete independent performance or camera ranking. Treat the final choice as a fit decision rather than assuming that the Ultra or X9s wins every category.
Common mistakes that produce the wrong answer
Counting from the announcement date
Adding five years to May 21, 2026, or six years to a product-page date assumes a start event that OPPO has not specified in the reviewed material. The resulting year may be wrong. Report the promised duration and ask for the applicable start rule instead.

Confusing OS upgrades with security patches
“Six years of updates” is incomplete unless it says whether six refers to major OS versions, security patches or both. For the Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s, the stated split is five OS years and six security years.
Applying a family promise to every model
OPPO’s historical policies contain selected-model language and exceptions. The 2021 policy excluded Find X Lite and Find X Neo from the three-update Find X commitment and excluded carrier models altogether. Verify the exact phone instead of relying on “Find,” “Reno” or “A” branding.
Assuming an imported phone has local support
A phone bought from another country can have different firmware, update approval, network compatibility, warranty and support terms. A global product page does not replace confirmation from the market where you will use the device.

OPPO UK’s minimum three-year security statement is useful as a baseline, but it does not override a model-specific promise or prove that every region receives updates on the same day. Use the strongest evidence available for the exact model and country.
What to do when a phone approaches the end of support
- Check the security-patch date and Android/ColorOS version in Settings.
- Install every available update and keep automatic updates enabled where offered.
- Remove apps that no longer receive updates and avoid installing software from unknown sources.
- Use strong screen-lock protection, two-factor authentication and encrypted backups.
- Ask OPPO whether a delayed patch is pending for your region before assuming support has ended.
- Plan replacement before banking, work or identity apps stop supporting the device’s Android version.
These steps cannot extend OPPO’s published support period, but they reduce avoidable risk while you confirm the phone’s status or arrange a replacement.
Practical buying decision
Choose the Find X9 Ultra when
- It is officially sold in your country with the configuration and warranty you want.
- You prefer its size, camera system, performance or storage over the X9s.
- The seller confirms the five-year OS and six-year security commitment for your exact variant.
Choose the Find X9s when
- It is easier to obtain locally or costs less while retaining the same stated support periods.
- Its dimensions, camera setup and performance better match your use.
- The regional listing clearly identifies the model and confirms the same five-plus-six-year split.
Choose another OPPO model when
- The Find X9 phones are unavailable or incompatible with your network and warranty needs.
- You accept a shorter, documented period such as the Reno13 Series’ three OS years and four security years in India.
- You can verify the exact support promise and the lower price makes the shorter ownership horizon worthwhile.

For the longest explicit OPPO software support documented here, start with the Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s: both are stated to receive five years of OS updates and six years of security updates. They are tied on longevity, so decide between them using local availability, exact configuration, price, ergonomics, camera and performance.
