Don’t treat “uncensored” as a guarantee that a generator accepts any image or prompt. It is not a standardized label for a product’s content rules, model openness, privacy practices, or user rights. Check the specific model and workflow against your intended use, the provider’s current policy, and the terms for your reference images and generated videos.
What “uncensored” does—and does not—tell you
A service can impose restrictions even when the model behind it is open, and open model weights do not make every use lawful or permitted. For example, Runway’s published Usage Policy prohibits categories including adult nudity, sexually explicit content, non-consensual intimate imagery, and use of another person’s image, video, or audio without permission. Wan 2.2 publishes model code and weights, but its repository also sets conditions on use. Neither “open” nor “uncensored” is a substitute for reading the applicable rules.
Start by defining the content you need to make and whether the reference image depicts a real person. Then check the exact product, model, account or deployment type, and current terms. Policies and model catalogs can change; a label or older review may not describe what is available now.

Check these factors before choosing
Content rules for your intended use
Read the provider’s policy for the specific categories that matter to your project: nudity and sexual content, violence, minors, real-person likenesses, public figures, and user-uploaded media. Don’t infer that a provider allows a category because a model name, marketplace listing, or user report calls it uncensored. The available primary-source material does not establish a reliable current policy comparison across major hosted providers.

Runway’s Usage Policy, last updated March 6, 2026, lists prohibited content and conduct that includes child-safety violations, graphic violence, hateful conduct, harassment, self-harm, privacy violations, intellectual-property violations, impersonation, and misleading content, as well as the categories above. It says the company uses automated systems and internal human review to detect and block harmful content. That is the provider’s description of its approach, not an independent measurement of how well its moderation performs.
Consent and rights for reference images
Before uploading an image, establish that you have the rights to use it and, when it shows an identifiable person, the person’s permission where required. Runway’s policy prohibits using someone else’s image, video, or audio without permission. Requirements can differ by provider and use case, so review the actual upload terms rather than assuming that having a copy of an image gives you the right to animate it.

OpenAI’s Sora safety page described an uploader attestation that they had consent and rights to upload images featuring people, plus stricter safeguards for image-to-video generations with people. The same page says Sora was no longer available as of April 26, 2026; it should not be treated as a currently available option on the strength of older launch coverage. Check official availability information again before making a decision.

Check current terms for what happens to uploaded images and generated clips: retention, access, training use, deletion, ownership, and commercial use. Those details are not established across providers by the sources cited here, so do not infer them from a marketing label or from whether a model’s weights are public. Confirm that the specific account or deployment terms cover your planned distribution and monetization.

Workflow control and practical fit
Compare whether the exact workflow supports image conditioning and the motion or camera control you need, and check any format or resolution limits for the specific model. A product catalog can show that image-to-video models exist, but it does not establish which produces the best results or accepts a particular content category. Runway’s image-to-video endpoint page lists models in its catalog, including Gen-4.5; catalogs change, and the listing is not a cross-provider quality ranking.
For a hosted service, verify what model and controls your plan or endpoint actually provides. For a local workflow, inspect the model’s documented inference setup and license. If repeatability matters, check whether your chosen workflow exposes settings that let you reproduce a generation; do not assume that every model offers the same controls.
Provenance and disclosure
Look for information about watermarking, metadata, or other ways outputs are identified as AI-generated, and check whether those signals survive editing and export. Runway’s Safety at Runway page describes layered safeguards and says it implements C2PA so AI-generated content can be traced to its source. This is the company’s account of its provenance measures, not an independent audit. If disclosure matters to your workflow, check the exported file rather than assuming provenance information will remain intact after processing.
Hosted service or local model?
The choice is a trade-off between relying on a provider’s hosted workflow and running an open-weight model yourself. The examples below show what the cited product documentation establishes; they do not establish a quality ranking or a general rule about which option is less restrictive.

What Wan 2.2’s hardware figures mean
Local inference can demand substantial graphics memory. Wan-Video’s Wan 2.2 repository specifies these minimum VRAM figures for its documented single-GPU examples:
- TI2V-5B: at least 24GB VRAM for the documented text-and-image-to-video workflow at 720p.
- I2V-A14B: at least 80GB VRAM for the documented image-to-video single-GPU inference configuration.
These are model- and configuration-specific requirements, not universal minimums for image-to-video generation. Other models, optimized forks, or hosted services may have different requirements. If you do not own suitable hardware, a hosted service or rented compute may be an alternative, but compare its current terms and cost directly rather than assuming a particular provider or price.
The repository’s Apache 2.0 license and available weights do not remove other obligations: the repository says generated content is subject to conditions, including not using the models to share unlawful or harmful content. Read the current license and repository conditions, and follow applicable laws and platform rules.

- Describe the intended output. Identify the content category, whether a real person appears, where the clip will be published, and whether it will be monetized.
- Read the current policy and terms. Confirm that the intended content is allowed and review upload rights, privacy, retention, and commercial-use provisions for the exact service, model, or deployment.
- Confirm image permissions. Make sure you have rights to the reference material and any required consent from identifiable people before uploading or generating.
- Verify the workflow. Check the model’s image-to-video support, controls, format limits, availability, and—in a local setup—the documented hardware requirements.
- Check output provenance. Find out whether generated files carry labels or metadata, and verify what remains after your editing and export workflow.
What the available evidence cannot establish
The cited official material does not provide a dependable, current comparison of all major hosted generators’ content rules, privacy practices, commercial rights, moderation behavior, or output quality. It also does not establish that any generator is universally “uncensored.” Make the decision against the provider’s current terms and your specific, permitted use—not an unverified ranking or an assumption that open weights mean unrestricted use.
