The right Zelda Master Sword replica depends on how you will use it. Convention prop
Convention use adds a safety and compliance question that product pages cannot answer. A lightweight foam or plastic prop may be easier to peace-bond, carry, and pass inspection, but there is no single standard size or construction for this category. The event’s current rules and the exact item’s materials control whether it is admitted.

Use the table as a screening tool, not as a promise that one item is universally best. A full-length collectible may dominate a small room, and a compact costume toy may look out of scale with a detailed display. Measure the space, costume, and transport method you actually plan to use.

The current Tamashii Nations documentation gives the PROPLICA an overall length of 1,050 mm (105 cm) and identifies ABS as the material. ABS is a molded thermoplastic commonly used for rigid consumer products; here, the published specification establishes the construction but does not make the object a weapon. Treat the replica as a display piece and follow the manufacturer’s age guidance.
What is in the package

Release and price context
Tamashii Nations records an initial release date of September 21, 2024. Its current re-release listing gives April 2027 as the re-release month and a Japanese recommended retail price of ¥29,700 including tax. That price and schedule apply to the Japanese listing; they are not a global street price or a guarantee of stock in another country. Confirm the seller’s region, import charges, currency, warranty route, and delivery date before paying.
Evaluate the compact Disguise costume sword
Scale and storage
Nintendo’s product page lists the Disguise item at 26 in × 6 in × 2 in and identifies manufacturer Disguise and SKU 119486. Its shorter format can fit costume luggage and be easier to manage in crowded areas than a full-length collectible. Compare those outer dimensions with your case, closet, and intended scabbard position; the published measurements describe the product footprint, not the space needed for packaging or a photographer’s pose.
What the listing confirms—and what it does not
The listing calls the contents “one toy sword and scabbard.” It does not state the material on that page, so questions about rigidity, edge shape, weight, fastening points, or impact behavior require confirmation from the seller or manufacturer. Do not upgrade an unspecified toy into a “metal,” “battle-ready,” or convention-approved prop based on a marketplace title.
Choose materials with safety and handling in mind
ABS and other rigid plastics
Rigid plastic can hold a crisp silhouette and resist normal shelf handling, which suits a display replica. It can still crack under impact or create a hard projecting object in a crowd. A plastic label does not by itself satisfy a venue’s prop policy; security staff may consider length, shape, attachment method, and how the item is carried.
Foam and lightweight plastics
Foam or lightweight plastic is often easier to carry and may align with rules that permit soft or lightweight melee props. “Lightweight” is not a universal technical threshold, however. Metal and functional construction
The documented PROPLICA is ABS, not metal, and no source here establishes a functional edge or cutting capability for either named product. Metal blades, sharpened edges, and heavy replicas face stricter controls at many events. If a listing uses terms such as “real steel,” “sharpened,” or “battle ready,” treat that as a different product class and check legality, transport requirements, and venue rules before purchase.

Sheath or scabbard
Confirm whether a sheath is included, whether it is sized for the supplied sword, and how it is supported. The PROPLICA documentation lists a sheath; Nintendo’s Disguise listing lists a scabbard. A product photo showing a sheath is not enough for a third-party listing if the written contents omit it.
Stand and display footprint
A stand protects a long replica from leaning against a wall and makes the presentation intentional. The PROPLICA listing includes a display stand set. Measure the shelf depth and clearance above it, including the sheath and any display angle, before ordering. If a stand is absent, do not balance a rigid replica on improvised furniture where it can fall.
Sound, music, and vibration
Interactive effects can be a deciding feature for a game-room display, but they are unnecessary—and sometimes inconvenient—for a costume. Verify which effects are documented, how they are activated, and whether the seller is offering the same regional edition. The PROPLICA page specifically states sound effects, eight series songs, and vibration; it does not promise a particular volume level, battery life, or venue permission to operate them.
Age guidance

Verify licensing and product identity
Licensing helps you identify what you are buying, but it does not prove that every licensed item has the finish, scale, or safety characteristics you want. Nintendo’s UK support guidance states: “THE OFFICIAL SEAL IS YOUR ASSURANCE THAT THIS PRODUCT IS LICENSED BY NINTENDO.” The same page explains that unlicensed accessories do not undergo Nintendo’s testing and evaluation process. Apply that statement narrowly: use the seal, manufacturer name, SKU, packaging photographs, and seller identity as checks, then compare the exact item with the official listing.
For the PROPLICA, match the Tamashii Nations product name, the 1,050 mm ABS specification, the sheath and stand contents, and the documented electronic features. For the Disguise item, match manufacturer Disguise and SKU 119486. A marketplace title that says “Master Sword replica” may describe a fan-made prop, a miniature, a costume toy, or a different edition.
Read the convention policy for your destination
Rules differ by event, sometimes from year to year. The following policies illustrate why a product cannot be labeled “convention safe” in the abstract.
San Diego Comic-Con
San Diego Comic-Con’s convention policies say functional or sharp-edged props and weapons are not allowed, and costume props may be subject to security approval. Plan for inspection and do not rely on a toy-like appearance to bypass screening.

Otakuthon 2026
Otakuthon’s 2026 props policy says melee weapons made from foam or other lightweight material may be allowed and that metal melee weapons are prohibited. This is an event-specific example, not a universal definition of “lightweight.”
Before travel, save the current policy page, check prohibited-material language, and look for requirements such as peace bonds, prop checks, size limits, or transport rules. Contact the event if the wording does not clearly cover your item; only the event can make the final admission decision.

- Write down the primary use. Select display, costume, or convention before opening marketplace tabs. If you have two uses, prioritize the stricter one—usually transport and event compliance.
- Set a size limit. Measure the shelf, case, garment bag, or vehicle space. Include the sheath, stand, and room to remove the item without hitting nearby objects.
- Set a material rule. For a convention, prefer the construction explicitly permitted by that event. If the event excludes metal, eliminate listings with metal blades or unspecified internal reinforcement.
- Compare the complete contents. Record sword, sheath or scabbard, stand, electronics, and any required accessories. Use “not stated” when a listing does not provide a specification instead of guessing.
- Verify identity. Match the product name, manufacturer, SKU, dimensions, and photographs against the official page. Be cautious with listings that mix images from several editions.
- Check licensing evidence. Look for the official seal and credible seller information where applicable. Licensing is an identity signal, not a guarantee of event acceptance or personal preference.
- Read the destination policy. Review the exact event’s current rules immediately before travel. Note inspection, peace-bonding, metal, edge, weight, and security-approval requirements.
- Confirm regional availability. Check whether the listing is new, used, pre-order, or a future re-release; verify delivery date, return terms, warranty route, taxes, and import costs.

Care and storage
Keep a rigid replica supported by its intended stand or in a padded case rather than leaning it on a blade tip. Store electronic versions in a dry environment and keep liquids away from controls and seams. For a costume prop, inspect the scabbard, handle, tip, and attachment points before each outing; retire the item if a crack creates a sharp edge or a part can detach unexpectedly.
