Choose the Xiaomi phone for the cross-device jobs you actually need, then verify the exact model, software version, Apple devices, and region. Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 adds selected connections with iPhone, iPad, and Mac, but it does not turn a Xiaomi handset into an Apple-ecosystem device. Support is conditional, varies by model and market, and can change as Xiaomi updates its rollout.
If your priority is nearby sharing, a qualifying Xiaomi phone can exchange certain photos, videos, files, contacts, web pages, and Wi-Fi credentials with Apple hardware. If you expect full continuity for messages, passwords, health records, app data, Apple Watch, AirPods, iCloud, or Apple Pay, the documented features do not establish that experience. Treat Xiaomi’s compatibility as a useful bridge for specific tasks, not as a complete iPhone replacement.
What you can realistically do between Xiaomi and Apple devices
Xiaomi describes HyperOS 3 as supporting selected connections with Apple devices. The useful distinction is between Touch to share, which is a nearby-transfer feature with strict prerequisites, and broader Xiaomi Interconnectivity functions, which can involve an iPhone, iPad, or Mac on a shared network or hotspot.
Touch to share
Touch to share is intended for nearby transfers. Xiaomi says it can share photos, videos, files, and Wi-Fi passwords with Apple devices. The Wi-Fi-password direction documented by Xiaomi is Xiaomi phone to iPhone; it is not a general two-way password exchange.

Broader cross-device functions
The HyperOS 3 documentation also describes functions such as connecting to a hotspot, locating the Xiaomi phone, sharing selected content, and using Home screen+ with an iPad. Individual capabilities depend on the app, device combination, account state, network, and software version. A feature listed on Xiaomi’s global page is not automatically available on every phone or in every country.
What is not established
These sharing functions do not document a complete migration from iPhone. They do not, by themselves, prove transfer or continuity for iMessage history, SMS databases, saved passwords, Apple Health data, third-party app data, Apple Watch pairing, AirPods behavior, iCloud services, Apple Pay, or every other Apple service. Plan separately for any data or accessory that matters to you.
Check your Apple hardware before choosing a Xiaomi phone
Your existing Apple devices determine which Xiaomi features are even possible. Check the operating-system versions first, rather than selecting a Xiaomi model on the assumption that all iPhones behave the same way.

The Touch to share requirements are narrower than the general compatibility statement. For example, an iPhone that meets the broader iOS baseline may still be too old for Touch to share. Confirm the requirement for the particular task you care about.

How to verify a Xiaomi model before buying
Do not use the name “Xiaomi phone” as a compatibility guarantee. Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 global rollout page publishes a model list and warns that supported devices and timing can change. Use that live list as a starting point, then confirm the local handset and software.
Use the current HyperOS 3 support information
- Open Xiaomi’s current global HyperOS 3 page or the equivalent support page for your country.
- Find the exact model name, storage variant, and regional version you intend to buy.
- Check whether the device is listed for HyperOS 3, not merely an earlier HyperOS release.
- Verify that Xiaomi Interconnectivity is available for that model and that the required app version can be installed.
- Check the rollout timing for your region; a model can appear on a global list while a local update is still pending.
Why Xiaomi 15 is only a candidate example
Xiaomi names Xiaomi 15 in its HyperOS 3 rollout information, so it is a reasonable handset to investigate when cross-device support is a priority. Earlier HyperOS 2 information identified Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra among selected supported models at that time. Those references do not establish that either phone is the best choice, currently stocked in your country, sold with the same bands everywhere, or guaranteed to expose every feature in your market. Treat the model name as a lead for verification, not as a verdict.
Check the local edition, not just the global specification
Before paying, confirm the seller’s exact regional model, carrier-band compatibility, warranty coverage, update channel, and return policy. A phone imported from another market can have different software, radio bands, warranty terms, or feature availability. Current price and stock were not established by Xiaomi’s compatibility pages, so check those separately for your country.
Touch to share: exact setup and use
Touch to share is the most concrete Xiaomi-to-iPhone workflow, but every prerequisite matters. Xiaomi’s support guidance requires HyperOS 3 or later on the Xiaomi phone, an iPhone 12 or later on iOS 17 or later, and Xiaomi Interconnectivity version 2.0.0 or later. The feature is limited to overseas regions other than Japan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Prepare both phones
- Install the latest available system updates on the Xiaomi phone and iPhone.
- On the Xiaomi phone, update or install Xiaomi Interconnectivity and confirm version 2.0.0 or later.
- On the iPhone, install the required Xiaomi Interconnectivity app and confirm version 2.0.0 or later.
- Unlock both phones. Turn on NFC, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi on the Xiaomi handset and enable the corresponding wireless functions needed by the iPhone.
- Keep the phones close together and remove cases or accessories that prevent the NFC areas from aligning.
Share content
- Open the photo, video, file, contact, web page, or Wi-Fi-sharing control on the Xiaomi phone.
- Choose the Xiaomi sharing or Touch to share action shown by the current software.
- Bring the unlocked phones together at their NFC areas and wait for the connection prompt.
- Approve the transfer on the receiving iPhone and wait for the completion message before separating the phones.
The exact on-screen labels can vary with HyperOS and app updates. If a prompt does not appear, do not assume the hardware is defective; work through the checks below.
Understand the Wi-Fi-password limitation
Xiaomi documents Wi-Fi password sharing to iPhone only from Xiaomi to iPhone. This is useful when an iPhone user needs to join a network whose credentials are stored on the Xiaomi handset, but it is not evidence that an iPhone can send its saved Wi-Fi passwords back to Xiaomi through the same feature.
Broader Xiaomi Interconnectivity: what setup it may require
HyperOS 3’s broader Apple-device description covers iOS and iPadOS 14 or later and macOS 12 or later, with Xiaomi Interconnectivity 2.0.0 or later installed on Apple devices. Xiaomi states that some features require signing in with the same Xiaomi Account and placing the Xiaomi phone, iPhone, iPad, and Mac on the same network or hotspot.

If a function fails even though both devices meet the operating-system baseline, check whether the feature requires the same Xiaomi Account. Then put the devices on the same Wi-Fi network or use the specified hotspot arrangement. Cellular data alone may not satisfy a same-network requirement.

Feature behavior can be app-specific
Xiaomi notes that app-window behavior and cross-device unlocking vary by app and device. A function that works with one supported app may not extend to every app installed on the phone. Treat the feature description as a capability range, not a promise that the entire Xiaomi interface will appear on Apple hardware.
iPad and Mac considerations
An iPad or Mac can broaden the usefulness of the setup, but it also adds another version and app check. Confirm the iPadOS or macOS version, install Xiaomi Interconnectivity where required, and verify that the exact function you want lists that device type. Do not infer Mac support from an iPhone-only sharing demonstration.

1. Define the Apple devices you will keep
Write down the iPhone model and iOS version, plus any iPad or Mac versions. If your iPhone is older than iPhone 12 or cannot run iOS 17, remove Touch to share from the decision and evaluate only the broader functions that your devices and region support.

3. Eliminate models that fail the hard requirements
Remove any handset that is absent from current support information, cannot receive the required HyperOS release, or cannot run the required Xiaomi Interconnectivity version. A lower-priced phone that cannot perform your one essential task is not a practical bargain.
4. Compare ordinary phone priorities separately
After compatibility is confirmed, compare the factors that Xiaomi’s interoperability pages do not establish: camera quality, performance, battery behavior, display, storage, local price, carrier bands, warranty, repair options, and update policy. Those criteria may decide between two compatible models, but they cannot be inferred from the Apple-sharing feature list.
A practical pre-purchase checklist
- Record the exact Xiaomi model and regional edition.
- Confirm the model appears on the current HyperOS 3 support information.
- Verify the expected update has reached your country or obtain the seller’s written update status.
- Check Xiaomi Interconnectivity availability and version 2.0.0 or later on both sides where required.
- For Touch to share, confirm iPhone 12 or later and iOS 17 or later.
- For broader functions, check iOS or iPadOS 14 or later and macOS 12 or later where applicable.
- Confirm the feature is offered in your region; Touch to share excludes Japan, Hong Kong, and Macau according to Xiaomi’s stated limitation.
- Check whether the function needs the same Xiaomi Account, a shared Wi-Fi network, or a hotspot.
- Confirm NFC, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi support on the devices involved.
- Check local carrier bands, warranty, return terms, current stock, and total price.
- Plan how you will move data and authenticate services that are outside Xiaomi’s documented sharing features.
Troubleshooting when Xiaomi and iPhone do not connect
No Touch to share prompt appears
- Confirm the Xiaomi phone runs HyperOS 3 or later and the iPhone is an iPhone 12 or later on iOS 17 or later.
- Update Xiaomi Interconnectivity to version 2.0.0 or later on both devices where the app is required.
- Unlock both phones and turn on NFC, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
- Move the NFC areas together; thick cases can prevent detection.
- Check the regional restriction, especially if either phone is being used in Japan, Hong Kong, or Macau.
The devices detect each other but sharing fails
- Try a smaller or different file to determine whether the issue is content-specific.
- Keep both screens awake until the transfer finishes.
- Check that the receiving iPhone has enough storage and has accepted the incoming prompt.
- Restart both phones, reopen the sharing app, and retry with wireless functions enabled.
A broader feature is missing
- Check the exact feature’s device list rather than relying on the general HyperOS 3 description.
- Sign in with the same Xiaomi Account if Xiaomi lists that as a requirement.
- Place the devices on the same Wi-Fi network or required hotspot.
- Update iOS, iPadOS, macOS, HyperOS, and Xiaomi Interconnectivity.
- Test with a supported app; Xiaomi says app-window behavior and unlocking can vary by app and device.
How to make the final decision
A Xiaomi phone is a sensible option alongside an iPhone when your important tasks fit Xiaomi’s documented bridges and you are willing to maintain the required apps, updates, wireless settings, account, and network. It is a poor fit if your decision depends on uninterrupted Apple continuity or on a feature working identically across every Xiaomi model and region.
