There’s no universally easiest first Soulslike. Choose based on what will keep you engaged: Elden Ring offers room to explore and try different approaches; Another Crab’s Treasure is explicitly described as approachable for newer Soulslike players; Dark Souls III is a more focused entry in the series; and Lies of P pairs a distinctive setting with weapon customization. Those are preference matches—not a tested easiest-to-hardest ranking.
What Soulslike should you play first?
Start with the kind of challenge and setting you want, rather than looking for a guaranteed easy game. These titles share a focus on learning combat, but they offer different reasons to choose them.

Is Elden Ring good for someone new to Souls games?
It may suit a newcomer who likes exploring and wants options for approaching obstacles. PlayStation describes freedom in exploration and combat, while Bandai Namco says the game offers tools that can assist players. Those tools are not the same as a conventional difficulty slider: Bandai Namco says Elden Ring has no difficulty setting in its options menu.

Which Soulslike is easiest for beginners?
The available official descriptions do not support a definitive easiest-to-hardest ranking. Nintendo explicitly positions Another Crab’s Treasure as approachable for newer players, but that is promotional positioning rather than a measured comparison. Elden Ring’s exploration and combat options may appeal if you want flexibility; Dark Souls III and Lies of P offer other kinds of appeal without an established beginner difficulty rating.
So treat “easiest” as a personal fit question: do you want a newcomer-oriented pitch, room to explore, a focused series entry, or a setting and combat toolkit that interest you? No difficulty figure or universal ranking is established by these sources.

What should a beginner learn from Soulslike combat?
Bandai Namco identifies precise timing and evasion as important Souls-series skills, and recommends learning from enemies and the environment. A failed attempt can reveal something about an attack or your response; it does not, by itself, mean you cannot succeed. - Watch an enemy’s attack pattern before committing to your own.
- Change one tactic at a time so you can tell what helped.
- Explore for alternate routes or resources when a direct attempt is not working.
- Use the assistance and combat options the game provides, without assuming they amount to an easy mode.
