Choose Enlisted first if you want to play mostly alone or without voice chat. You directly control one soldier while AI squadmates follow your orders, and a 27 October 2021 developer announcement documented custom single-player battles. Reconfirm that mode in the current game client, because that announcement is historical.
If you want the most deliberate, communication-heavy multiplayer experience, start with Squad 44. Its developer positions it around historical battlefields, combined arms, logistics, role-based teamwork and 50-versus-50 battles. Hell Let Loose is another multiplayer-focused choice, built around large teams, frontline objectives, armor, artillery and cooperation.
There is no evidence-based universal winner for “most realistic.” Decide which kind of realism matters to you: period equipment, tactical pacing, low-HUD information, vehicle and logistics systems, historical maps, or the social experience of coordinating with a human squad.

Realism is not one measurable score. A game can use historically recognizable weapons and uniforms yet still play like a fast arcade shooter. Another can demand careful movement and communication while simplifying some historical details for balance. Evaluate these dimensions separately:

The official pages establish what each developer says the game offers. They do not independently prove historical accuracy, realistic damage modelling or that one title is universally more authentic than another.
A useful starting point is the question asked in one Reddit discussion: “Im looking for a somewhat realistic ww2 shooting game without having to communicate.” That is an individual request, not a survey result, but it captures the key decision: solo access and voice-chat demands come before fine-grained realism preferences. The counts in this table are publisher or developer feature claims, not independent inventories or measurements. They are useful for understanding intended scope, not for ranking authenticity.
Squad 44: the deliberate multiplayer option
Why it fits a tactical, communication-heavy player
Squad 44 is the clearest choice when your definition of realism is a slow, organized battle in which roles and coordination matter. Its official game page describes historical battlefields, realistic weapons and vehicles, armor values, logistics, command structures and objective play. The developer summarizes its intended experience with the statement: “Communication, coordination, and teamwork is essential to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.” See the official Squad 44 feature page.
The game advertises more than 20 historically accurate battlefields, 50-versus-50 battles, more than 120 vehicles and more than 150 weapons. Those figures describe the content promoted by the developer; they are not an audited comparison with the other games here.

- Enjoy expansive cinematic sound. Big 50 mm audio drivers deliver an incredible sound experience
- Hear Enemies From All Sides. DTS Headphone:X 2.0 surround sound(1) lets you hear enemies sneaking behind you, special ability cues, and immersive environments. It’s positional clarity that can make the difference between victory and defeat. Experience three-dimensional audio that goes beyond 7.1 channels to make you feel like you’re right in the middle of the action. (1) DTS Headphone:X 2.0 requires Logitech G HUB Software.
- Be Heard Loud and Clear. The big 6 mm boom mic makes sure you’re heard by gaming partners and mutes when flipped up.
- Use One Headset For Most Game Platforms. Your headphones work with your PC or Mac via USB DAC or 3.5 mm cable, mobile devices with 3.5 mm cable or with gaming consoles including PlayStationⓇ 5 and PlayStationⓇ 4 (USB wireless stereo sound only), Nintendo Switch (wireless stereo sound when docked)
- Game for Hours in Comfort. Everything about these headphones is about comfort: The deluxe lightweight leatherette ear cups and headband are made to keep pressure off your ears. Ear cups rotate up to 90 degrees for convenience.
What a match asks of you
- Choose a useful role: infantry, armor, logistics and command functions are part of the advertised structure.
- Follow a plan: objectives and sections give the battle a hierarchy beyond individual kills.
- Share information: in-game voice communication and coordination are part of the intended loop.
- Accept a learning curve: understanding positioning, logistics and role limits is more important than reflexes alone.
If you can listen but do not want to speak, you may still be able to participate, but the reviewed material does not establish current community norms or guarantee that silent play will be comfortable. The official description explicitly treats communication as essential, so this is not the safest pick for someone determined to avoid team interaction.
What the evidence does not establish
The reviewed official page does not establish a single-player campaign, current active-player numbers or complete platform coverage. Do not infer those facts from the battle-size claims. If solo play is a requirement, verify the current modes before committing.

Why it fits a coordinated multiplayer player
Hell Let Loose is aimed at players who want a large battle rather than a small, self-contained firefight. Its official description emphasizes 50-versus-50 matches, teamwork, communication, cooperation, commitment and patience. The advertised systems include player-controlled vehicles, artillery, a shifting frontline and a resource-based layer that links battlefield actions to wider strategy. Read the official Hell Let Loose game overview.
This combination makes it a good match for someone who wants to feel part of a broad operation: infantry attacks depend on armor and artillery, and the objective line can move instead of remaining a fixed series of capture points. Those are play-style signals, not independent proof that every weapon or historical event is simulated perfectly.
Communication and solo expectations
The official presentation treats cooperation and communication as core behaviors. A player who joins without a microphone might listen, mark targets and follow squad orders, but the supplied evidence does not verify how well that approach works in current public servers. There is also no established solo campaign in the reviewed material, so do not select Hell Let Loose expecting an AI-led single-player experience.

Enlisted: the clearest fit for solo or low-communication play
How the squad-control model works
Enlisted is an online, squad-based shooter rather than a conventional story campaign. Its official “About” page explains the central control model: “You control one soldier directly while other soldiers will be controlled by AI which obeys your orders.” See how Enlisted describes its squad system.
That arrangement changes what “playing alone” means. You are not isolated from all online systems; you are operating a squad in an online game while AI soldiers fill the remaining positions. You can move between soldiers in your squad when the situation calls for a different role, allowing one battle to include infantry, anti-armor, machine-gun or other specialist work without requiring a separate human teammate for every function.
Custom single-player battles: useful, but verify the current mode
An Enlisted Development announcement dated 27 October 2021 described custom games with “single-player battles with squad combat rules.” Read the custom-games announcement. This is the strongest evidence in the comparison for a solo-oriented mode, but it is historical documentation. Game modes and access rules can change, so look for the current custom-game option in the client or current official documentation before relying on it.
Historical breadth and scale
The current official site advertises more than 250 different weapons and more than 150 tanks. Gaijin’s publisher page describes hundreds of soldiers, armored vehicles and aircraft in every battle. Check the current Enlisted site and the publisher’s game page. These are publisher-published counts and descriptions, not independent measurements.

Enlisted therefore offers a broad period setting with many fronts, uniforms, weapons, vehicles and aircraft. Its breadth may appeal to players who value historical variety, while the AI-squad structure helps people who do not want to depend on voice chat.
Trade-offs to understand
- It remains an MMO squad shooter: AI squadmates reduce the need for human communication but do not turn the game into an offline campaign.
- Progression can change: the current progression structure has evolved over time, so older guides may not describe today’s unlocks or squad management.
- Free-to-play does not mean feature-free: the official site presents a free base game alongside optional premium squads and currency. Check your region’s current terms before spending money.
Choose by the way you actually want to play
If you want to play alone and avoid voice chat
Start with Enlisted. Its AI squadmates and documented custom-game support address the specific problem more directly than the other two options. Confirm that the custom mode is still available and decide whether an online MMO structure is acceptable.
If you can use voice chat and want the deepest team procedure
Start with Squad 44. Its official positioning puts communication, logistics, roles and coordinated objectives at the center. Expect a steeper learning process and a game that rewards fitting into a squad plan rather than improvising as a lone attacker.
If you want a huge frontline battle
Consider Hell Let Loose. Its advertised 50-versus-50 structure, armor, artillery, resources and shifting front suit players who want the battle line and wider operation to matter. Treat it as a multiplayer commitment rather than a solo substitute.
If historical equipment matters more than social structure
Compare the fronts, uniforms, weapons and vehicles each title currently offers, then verify details in the live game. All three use historical presentation as part of their appeal, but the supplied official material does not provide an independent accuracy audit. Do not convert a long equipment list into a claim that one game is historically perfect.

- 【Effortlessly Volume Control】High tensile strength, anti-winding braided USB cable with rotary volume controller and key microphone mute effectively prevents the 49-inches long cable from twining and allows you to control the volume easily and mute the mic as effortless volume control one key mute.
If you dislike large HUDs and constant information
Look for current interface and server settings, not just marketing language. The supplied pages do not provide a comparable HUD specification for all three games. “Realism-focused” wording can indicate a design goal without telling you exactly how enemy markers, maps or objective indicators work in a current build.
A practical selection process
- Write down your non-negotiable: solo access, no microphone, historical variety, large battles or tactical role depth.
- Eliminate mismatches: remove multiplayer-first games if you require a documented solo mode; remove AI-squad games if you only want fully human coordination.
- Check the current mode list: confirm that Enlisted’s custom-game option, if required, is available in your region and current client.
- Check the live platform and store information: verify price, edition, platform, cross-play and refund conditions. These details are volatile and are not established by the feature pages alone.
- Try the least expensive route first: Enlisted’s official site states that the base game is free to play, while the other games’ current prices should be checked in their live stores.
- Test your tolerance for communication: in a multiplayer trial, listen to squad instructions and observe whether the pace and coordination feel enjoyable before investing in accessories or expansions.
Do you need a microphone?
No microphone is needed for Enlisted’s AI-squad approach. A headset with a microphone is an optional convenience for players choosing Squad 44 or Hell Let Loose, where the official descriptions emphasize communication and teamwork. No particular headset model, price or performance advantage is established here, and a headset does not make a game itself more historically realistic.
Facts that can change after publication
Prices, discounts, server populations, platform support, cross-play, custom-game availability and affiliate programs are all volatile. Recheck those items on the current official or storefront pages before purchase. The supplied evidence is strongest for developer-stated features; it does not provide a reliable current population comparison, an independent realism ranking or a measurement of solo-player satisfaction.
For the official feature descriptions, see Squad 44, Hell Let Loose and Enlisted.
Bottom line
Pick Enlisted when solo or low-communication play is the deciding factor, while confirming that its documented custom-game option is still present. Pick Squad 44 when you want the most explicitly coordination-driven tactical multiplayer experience. Pick Hell Let Loose when the appeal is a 50-versus-50 frontline with armor, artillery and resource-driven objectives. The realistic choice is the one whose communication demands, control model and battle scale match how you actually intend to play.
