Choose a private jet for the trip you actually need to make: the people and baggage traveling, whether the route must be nonstop, and the airports at each end. Then compare cabin layout and dimensions, passenger seating, and range figures on like-for-like assumptions. A published range is not a guarantee that an aircraft can fly your route nonstop with your particular load and conditions.
Start with the mission, not the aircraft category
A useful shortlist starts with the trip, not a label such as “large cabin” or “long range.” Write down the route, the number of passengers, the baggage they expect to bring, and whether a stop is acceptable. Add how the cabin will be used: for example, whether travelers need to work, dine together, rest, or sleep during the flight. These requirements determine what “large enough” and “enough range” mean for your trip.
- Route: Identify the actual origin and destination, including the airports you would prefer to use.
- People and bags: Count the travelers and account for their baggage, rather than relying only on a model’s maximum seat figure.
- Nonstop requirement: Decide whether a refueling stop is acceptable. If it is not, treat nonstop capability as a requirement to verify for the specific trip, not as an inference from a brochure range.
- Cabin use: Describe the space travelers need and how they intend to use it. A dimension alone cannot tell you whether a particular seating plan suits work, meals, or rest.
- Airport fit and timing: Confirm the aircraft can serve the airports and that it is actually available and appropriate for the decision you are making.
These checks are related. More passengers and baggage can change the range available on a mission; a cabin’s size does not establish how many seats a particular aircraft has; and an aircraft’s range does not establish whether it can use your preferred airports.
Before comparing models, separate your requirements into must-haves and preferences. A must-have might be a nonstop route, enough seats for the entire group, or access to a particular airport. Preferences might include a cabin arrangement suited to working together or having separate areas for different activities. This distinction helps prevent an impressive specification from distracting you from a requirement the aircraft cannot meet.

For a charter, ask about the particular aircraft and layout that would be provided, not just the model family. For an acquisition decision, evaluate the specific configuration being considered. In either case, the practical question is not simply what a model can do in general, but whether the available aircraft can serve this passenger group, baggage load, route, and set of airports.
How to evaluate range for a nonstop route
Compare range numbers only after checking the assumptions used to produce them. Relevant factors include passenger load, baggage, operating speed, weather, routing, and reserves. Manufacturers may publish a theoretical maximum under a specified profile, while the flight you need to take has its own conditions. Air traffic control routing and weather can also affect the distance and performance required. Consequently, a brochure figure is a screening tool, not a promise of nonstop service.
Read the assumptions beside the number
For each candidate, record the published range and the conditions attached to it. Check the stated speed, passenger and crew complement, reserve rules, and any other stated assumptions. If two figures use different assumptions, do not treat the larger number as proof that one aircraft is better for your route. Where the assumptions are not available or cannot be aligned, mark the comparison as incomplete and ask for a route-specific assessment.
Be precise about what the comparison is telling you. A manufacturer’s theoretical maximum is a useful initial filter: it can indicate whether an aircraft belongs on the shortlist for a long route. It cannot settle whether a specific flight will be nonstop. Even a figure with the same passenger count and speed as another figure may be based on different stated conditions, so read the accompanying notes rather than comparing only the headline numbers.
Gulfstream’s published G700 range is 7,750 nautical miles for a theoretical NBAA IFR mission at Mach 0.85, with eight passengers, four crew, and NBAA IFR reserves. Bombardier’s Global 7500 Environmental Product Declaration, published in 2025, gives a theoretical maximum of 7,700 nautical miles with NBAA IFR reserves, ISA, Mach 0.85, eight passengers, and four crew. Those numbers appear close, but the source descriptions are not identical: Bombardier explicitly lists ISA in its assumptions, and each figure remains a manufacturer-published theoretical value rather than a result for your exact itinerary.
Verify the actual trip before committing
Once a candidate appears to meet the route requirement, have the operator or other qualified aviation professional assess the specific mission using the expected passenger and baggage load, route, weather, operating speed, and reserves. Ask whether the route is planned nonstop and what conditions could require a change. Do not infer trip feasibility from a model’s maximum-range label alone.
Useful follow-up questions are concrete: Does the proposed plan use the preferred origin and destination airports? Is the plan nonstop for the passenger and baggage load supplied? Which assumptions about speed, routing, weather, and reserves are being used? What could change the plan? These questions clarify whether a range figure has been translated into a mission assessment, without treating the public specification as a dispatch guarantee.
Gulfstream states that actual G700 range is affected by “ATC routing, operating speed, weather, outfitting options and other factors.” Its published figure is a theoretical NBAA IFR mission at Mach 0.85 with eight passengers, four crew, and NBAA IFR reserves. Bombardier’s Global 7500 figure is also theoretical, with NBAA IFR reserves, ISA, Mach 0.85, eight passengers, and four crew. Both manufacturers caution that actual range varies with mission factors. These figures are useful examples of why the conditions belong alongside the number, not a controlled independent comparison of the aircraft.

Do not assume that “eight passengers” means every possible passenger load has the same range, or that a range published for a particular speed describes every operating speed. The passenger and crew counts are part of the stated mission profile, not a universal promise. If your trip’s load, route, or other conditions differ, ask for the assessment to reflect those differences. If a nonstop flight is essential, make that a pass-or-fail condition rather than a preference to revisit after choosing an aircraft.
Compare cabins by usable layout, not dimensions alone
Cabin width, height, and length help indicate the space available, but they do not describe how that space is divided or furnished. Look at the seating plan and cabin zones, and consider whether the arrangement supports the activities that matter on your trip. A long cabin can be arranged in different ways; the dimension does not, by itself, show how many usable seats, work areas, or rest spaces a specific layout provides.
Translate “comfortable cabin” into questions about use. Do passengers need to work individually or collaborate? Is dining together important? Do some travelers need to rest while others are using the cabin? Are passengers expecting a layout that supports sleep? These are prompts for reviewing the proposed arrangement, not guarantees about a feature that a dimension alone cannot establish. Look at the actual configuration and consider whether its zones and seating support the way your group intends to travel.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteCheck exactly what a published dimension includes. A measurement may exclude the flight deck or baggage compartment, so two lengths can be misleading if they are defined differently. Ask to review the layout for the specific aircraft being chartered or considered for purchase, rather than assuming every aircraft with the same model name has an identical interior. Outfitting options can also affect how a published aircraft specification applies to the actual aircraft.
Dassault publishes Falcon 10X internal cabin dimensions of 9 ft 1 in wide, 6 ft 8 in high, and 53 ft 10 in long, with the length excluding the flight deck and baggage. Those dimensions help describe the cabin envelope; they do not establish a particular seating arrangement or prove that the aircraft will meet a given traveler’s needs. Confirm the proposed cabin layout and baggage arrangement directly.
When comparing a dimension such as cabin length, first check whether the two figures measure the same thing. The Falcon 10X length above specifically excludes the flight deck and baggage; a figure with a different definition would not be a like-for-like comparison. Even when dimensions are defined consistently, they describe size rather than the arrangement of seats and zones. The best comparison is therefore a combination of defined dimensions and the actual layout relevant to your trip.
Distinguish standard accommodation from maximum seating
Passenger capacity is configuration-dependent. A manufacturer’s standard accommodation and maximum passenger seating capacity are different measures, and neither automatically describes the layout of a particular aircraft available to you. Ask which configuration applies, whether all required passengers can be seated in that layout, and whether the baggage plan works with it.
Bombardier lists the Global 7500 with standard accommodation for 17 passengers and a maximum passenger seating capacity of 19. The figures illustrate why “how many can it carry?” needs a configuration qualifier. Do not transfer those counts—or an assumption based on cabin size—to another model.

For your own count, start with the people traveling and ask what seating arrangement is actually proposed. A maximum seating figure is not the same as a promise that the aircraft available for your trip will be configured that way. Likewise, standard accommodation is a manufacturer’s stated standard, not proof that every individual aircraft has the same interior. Confirm the configuration and the passenger count together, then check whether the baggage plan works for that combination.
This matters especially when the group count is close to a published maximum. Do not settle the question by subtracting seats from the maximum or assuming that a larger cabin automatically means more seats. Ask for confirmation of the specific aircraft’s seating plan and whether it accommodates all travelers. The cited manufacturer data do not establish a universal seating figure for the G700 or Falcon 10X, so their cabin size or range should not be used to infer one.
Compare the published examples carefully
The table summarizes manufacturer-published information for three aircraft. It is not an independent test or a complete ranking: the source material does not provide a directly comparable set of cabin dimensions and seating figures for all three.

Sources: Gulfstream G700 specifications; Bombardier Global 7500 Environmental Product Declaration; Dassault Falcon 10X backgrounder.
The first two range figures are close, but that similarity does not make the aircraft interchangeable. Nor can these figures support a universal winner: the listed numbers describe particular manufacturer assumptions, and the evidence does not supply equivalent cabin and seating data across all three. Choose based on the mission and configuration you can verify, not a one-number ranking.
The Falcon 10X figure adds a different kind of information to the comparison: cabin dimensions as well as a published range. Dassault’s 2026 backgrounder gives its internal cabin width, height, and length, and specifies that the length excludes the flight deck and baggage. That makes the dimension useful for understanding the stated cabin envelope, but it still does not fill in missing comparable seating and layout details for the other aircraft. Avoid turning an incomplete table into a cabin-size league table.
Likewise, the G700 and Global 7500 range values should not be read as a meaningful 50-nautical-mile advantage for one aircraft on every real-world route. They are figures published under stated theoretical assumptions, and actual range depends on mission factors. A route-specific assessment and information about the particular configuration matter more than treating the difference between two headline values as decisive.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCheck airport access and aircraft status separately
A route is useful only if the candidate aircraft can serve the airports that make the trip practical. Airport and runway requirements can narrow the options, so ask the operator to confirm the fit for the actual origin and destination. The manufacturer figures above do not provide common airport-performance data for a comparative access ranking; a range table cannot answer this question.

Keep airport fit as a separate check rather than assuming that a long-range aircraft can use every airport you prefer. First identify the actual endpoints you need; then ask whether the candidate can serve those airports for the planned mission. If a preferred airport is not workable, ask what alternative would be used and whether that changes the trip you are trying to make. The cited manufacturer data do not establish a comparative ranking for airport access, so the answer needs to come from assessment of the specific route and aircraft.
Also distinguish aircraft in service from aircraft still in development. Dassault’s 2026 Falcon 10X backgrounder reports a first flight on June 19, 2026, and says additional flight-test aircraft were joining the program. That is evidence of a flight-test program, not by itself confirmation of certification, delivery timing, or availability for a particular charter or acquisition. Verify current certification and availability for the specific decision and date.
Dassault Aviation’s launch material is dated March 10, 2026, while Dassault Falcon’s 2026 backgrounder reports the June 19, 2026 first flight. These dated milestones help put the Falcon 10X specifications in context: they belong to an aircraft program described as being in flight test, rather than evidence that a particular aircraft is ready for immediate use. For an acquisition, verify current certification and delivery status; for travel planning, confirm that the aircraft is actually available for the requested trip. Do not treat a development specification as a bookable charter option.

- Define the trip. Write down the route, nonstop requirement, preferred airports, passenger count, and baggage needs.
- Describe the cabin job. Specify how travelers will use the space and review an actual seating and cabin layout, not just overall dimensions.
- Shortlist on range assumptions. Compare published figures with their speed, load, crew, reserve, and other stated conditions. Treat mismatched assumptions as a reason to request clarification, not as a direct ranking.
- Confirm seating and baggage together. Establish whether the specific configuration seats everyone and accommodates the expected baggage.
- Request a mission-specific check. Ask a qualified operator or aviation professional to assess the route under the expected load and conditions, including the intended airports.
- Confirm maturity and availability. For an aircraft in development, verify the latest certification and delivery status; for a trip or acquisition, confirm the specific aircraft can actually be made available.
- Decide against requirements, not a headline. Eliminate any candidate that fails a must-have, such as the nonstop route, airport access, seating, or required cabin use. Among the remaining options, weigh the practical trade-offs for the trip.
A simple comparison sheet can keep the shortlist grounded. For each candidate, write down the route and airports being evaluated; the passenger and baggage load; whether nonstop is required; the published range and its stated assumptions; the cabin dimensions and what they include; the proposed seating layout; and the current availability or development status. Mark an item “confirmed,” “needs assessment,” or “not established” rather than silently filling a gap with an assumption.
This method also makes a fair comparison easier. Compare the same route and load for every aircraft, and keep the source context next to each published number. If one candidate has a confirmed cabin layout but another has only general dimensions, record that difference instead of pretending the information is equivalent. A candidate with incomplete information may still warrant a follow-up question, but it cannot be declared the better fit on data that are not there.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating maximum range as a route guarantee: published maximum figures have assumptions, and actual mission conditions can change the result.
- Choosing by cabin length alone: dimensions do not reveal seating zones, arrangement, or how the cabin suits the travelers.
- Confusing standard and maximum seats: confirm the exact configuration rather than assuming the highest advertised count applies to a specific aircraft.
- Ignoring baggage: passenger capacity and cabin dimensions do not establish that the intended baggage load fits.
- Assuming every model is equally mature or available: a development specification is not equivalent to a currently available aircraft.
- Ranking aircraft on incomplete data: when comparable cabin, seating, or airport-performance evidence is absent, do not fill the gap with an assumption.
Another common error is treating a specification table as though every row answers the same question. A range value addresses a stated mission profile; a cabin dimension describes a measurement; and a passenger count describes a stated seating arrangement or maximum. None substitutes for the others. For example, the Global 7500’s published seating figures do not establish how many passengers the G700 seats, and the Falcon 10X cabin dimensions do not establish its specific layout for a future aircraft.
Finally, avoid letting a near match on one criterion overrule a failed must-have. If nonstop capability, an airport, or seating for the whole group is essential, verify it directly. A preference such as a particular cabin arrangement can help choose among candidates that meet those requirements, but it should not mask a mission mismatch.

The best choice is the aircraft whose specific configuration fits the people, baggage, cabin use, route, and airports—and whose mission capability and availability have been verified for the trip. Use published specifications to build a shortlist, then confirm the real-world mission rather than relying on a cabin label, seat maximum, or headline range.

In short, start with what the trip demands, compare like with like, and ask for confirmation wherever a manufacturer figure leaves a practical question unanswered. That process is more useful than naming a universal winner from a few specifications that do not cover every cabin, seating, airport, and operating condition.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many passengers can a private jet carry?
It depends on the aircraft model and the specific cabin configuration. Bombardier lists the Global 7500 at 17 passengers in standard accommodation and a maximum passenger seating capacity of 19. Confirm the actual layout for the aircraft being chartered or considered; do not infer seating capacity from cabin size or transfer one model’s figures to another.
What range do I need for a nonstop flight?
Start with the actual route, passenger and baggage load, and whether a stop is acceptable. Published range figures use stated assumptions and do not guarantee nonstop service for your trip. Ask a qualified operator or aviation professional to assess the route, expected load, weather, routing, speed, and reserves.
Recommended Free Tools
Is a larger cabin always better?
Not necessarily. Width, height, and length describe dimensions, but the layout and cabin zones determine how the space works for activities such as working, dining, and resting. Review the proposed layout for the specific aircraft and check what its published dimensions include.
Are the G700 and Global 7500 interchangeable because their ranges are close?
No. Gulfstream publishes 7,750 nautical miles for a theoretical G700 NBAA IFR mission at Mach 0.85 with eight passengers, four crew, and NBAA IFR reserves. Bombardier publishes 7,700 nautical miles for a theoretical Global 7500 maximum under its stated assumptions, including ISA, Mach 0.85, eight passengers, four crew, and NBAA IFR reserves. Both manufacturers caution that actual range varies with mission factors; the figures are not a route-specific guarantee or a complete comparison of the aircraft.
Is the Falcon 10X available to book or acquire now?
Do not infer availability from its published specifications. Dassault’s 2026 backgrounder reports a first flight on June 19, 2026, and describes an ongoing flight-test program. Verify current certification, delivery, and availability for the specific charter or acquisition decision.
The Bottom Line
Choose by the mission: confirm the passenger and baggage load, cabin layout, nonstop route and airport fit, then compare range figures with their assumptions. Verify the specific aircraft’s configuration and availability before deciding; a headline range, cabin dimension, or maximum seat count is not a trip guarantee.
