Choose by your dominant use, not by a single “best phone” list. Under ₹20,000 in India, start by deciding whether gaming performance, camera results, or time between charges matters most. Then verify the exact RAM/storage configuration, live price, seller, warranty, and independent tests for the games or scenes you actually use. A current marketplace snapshot checked on 13 October 2026 shows the iQOO Z9x 5G (6GB/128GB) at ₹11,499 and the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G (6GB/128GB) at ₹14,999, but both prices and availability can change.
Start with a priority, not a model name
A ₹20,000 ceiling forces trade-offs. A phone with a large battery may not have the fastest charging, a high-refresh display does not prove that demanding games hold that frame rate, and a high megapixel count does not guarantee better photos. Define the result you want before comparing specifications.
If gaming is your priority

Look for autofocus consistency, highlight control, skin tones, portrait-edge separation, stabilization, ultrawide usefulness and video quality. Megapixels describe output size, not image quality.

If battery life is your priority
Decide how long the phone must last between charges and how you connect: Wi-Fi, 5G or mixed mobile data. Use controlled endurance tests for comparable models. Capacity, screen brightness, chipset efficiency, signal strength, refresh rate, camera use and charging speed all affect the result, so a larger milliamp-hour number alone cannot establish longer real-world runtime.
Questions to answer before opening listings
Write down your non-negotiables first. A gamer might require enough storage for several large titles and comfortable surface temperatures; a photographer might require reliable autofocus, usable video and an ultrawide camera; a battery-focused buyer might require a full day on mixed mobile data and a quick top-up during a short break. These are different definitions of value, so the same phone can be a sensible choice for one person and a poor one for another.

Samsung says product specifications, pricing and availability can change. Its guidance also notes that photo results depend on lighting and shooting conditions, while actual battery life varies with network environment and use. How price changes the comparison
The two observed listings leave very different amounts below the ₹20,000 ceiling: ₹8,501 for the iQOO Z9x example and ₹5,001 for the Galaxy A15 5G example. That difference is not automatically a saving or a performance verdict. Use the remaining budget only if it solves a real requirement, such as moving to a higher-storage configuration, and re-check the exact variant rather than assuming a cheaper listing has identical memory.
Compare the checkout total, not just a search-card price. Record whether the displayed amount depends on a bank offer, exchange condition or other eligibility, and check delivery charges. Save the invoice and warranty details because a volatile listing can change after you have made your shortlist.

1. Match the chipset to measured game performance
Write down two or three games and the settings you intend to use. For each candidate, find independent testing of those titles at the same resolution and graphics preset. 3. Interpret the display correctly
A 90Hz or 120Hz panel can make menus and supported games look smoother, but it does not force a game to render at that rate. Confirm the game’s supported frame modes and whether testing reached them consistently. Also check brightness in the review if you play outdoors; refresh rate alone says nothing about visibility.
4. Use the iQOO listing as a starting point, not proof of a gaming win
The observed iQOO Z9x 5G listing pairs a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a stated 6000mAh battery. Those are relevant inputs for a shortlist. They are not independent evidence of frame stability, thermal control or endurance. Before buying, locate tests of the exact 6GB/128GB India variant and your specific games.

Understand the Galaxy A15 5G camera set
Samsung lists a 50MP main camera, 5MP ultrawide, 2MP macro and 13MP front camera for the Galaxy A15 5G. The combination gives you dedicated ultrawide and macro modules, but specifications alone cannot tell you whether either secondary camera is useful in poor light or whether video stabilization meets your needs. Compare charging as part of the routine
If you regularly have only 15 minutes to recharge, charging speed may matter more than a modest capacity difference. Confirm the supported wattage, charger included in the box and whether the test used the supplied charger. A fast-charge claim without those details is incomplete.
Interpret the two published capacities
The iQOO Z9x listing states 6000mAh, while Samsung describes the Galaxy A15 5G as 5000mAh typical and 4900mAh rated minimum. The larger stated number is a meaningful hardware difference, but it does not prove a longer runtime until comparable endurance testing accounts for display, chipset, software, signal and usage. Samsung says actual life varies with network environment and use.
A practical scoring method
When two or three phones remain, score each one against your own priorities rather than averaging unrelated specifications. Use a 100-point sheet so a strong camera cannot accidentally cancel a gaming requirement you consider essential.
- Gaming-first: assign 50 points to sustained game testing, 15 to heat and comfort, 15 to display and touch behaviour, 10 to storage and 10 to battery drain during play.
- Photography-first: assign 45 points to your daylight, indoor and night samples, 15 to autofocus, 15 to stabilization and video, 10 to ultrawide and portrait performance, and 15 to storage and software experience.
- Battery-first: assign 45 points to comparable endurance tests, 20 to charging time and charger inclusion, 15 to capacity, 10 to display efficiency and 10 to network reliability in your area.
Reject any phone that fails a non-negotiable requirement—such as insufficient storage, no usable service option or unacceptable camera focus—even if its total score is high. Record the review date and test conditions beside every score so a result is not treated as universal.
