For Phantom Blade Zero, use the game’s published recommended tier as the safer starting point if your goal is its stated 1440p/60 FPS target: a Core i5-10600K or Ryzen 5 5600X, an RTX 3060 Ti 8GB or Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB, 16GB of RAM, Windows 10/11 64-bit, DirectX 12, and an SSD. Steam says that target uses upscaling. Its minimum tier is a different target—1080p/30 FPS with upscaling—using a Core i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600 and a GTX 1660 6GB or RX 5500 XT 8GB. These are official pre-release specifications, not independent test results.

Start with the performance target, not the PC’s marketing label

A PC advertised as a “gaming computer” or “high-performance system” is not automatically a match for a particular game. For Phantom Blade Zero, compare its actual CPU and graphics card with the models in the game’s published requirements, then confirm the remaining requirements. This gives you a concrete way to assess a desktop listing or a PC you already own without treating broad labels such as “midrange” as proof of compatibility.

The game is an Unreal Engine 5 action RPG developed by S-GAME Studio and published by S-GAME Publishing. Steam and the Epic Games Store list October 28, 2026 as its release date. As of October 13, 2026, that date is still in the future, so the listed hardware targets should be treated as pre-release specifications rather than measured gameplay results. Steam’s Phantom Blade Zero listing and the Epic Games Store listing identify the game and publish system requirements.

The two listed configurations are not interchangeable levels of the same promise. Steam associates the minimum tier with 1080p at 30 FPS and the recommended tier with 1440p at 60 FPS; both notes specify that upscaling is enabled. Epic lists the same component profiles, Windows versions, and DirectX version, but its rendered requirements section does not include Steam’s resolution and frame-rate notes. The targets therefore describe what the listings say, not a guarantee for every PC with a similarly named part.

These figures are from the official Steam and Epic listings. Steam supplies the resolution and frame-rate notes; Epic’s requirements display does not. Neither listing provides benchmark data, maximum-settings results, laptop-to-desktop equivalencies, or a performance target above the recommended profile. Read the table as a guide to the published tiers, not as a complete performance chart.

Choose which target fits your display and expectations

Minimum: the listed 1080p/30 FPS profile

The minimum tier is the relevant comparison if you are trying to assess a lower-cost PC or an existing system and are willing to aim for the lower published target. Its graphics examples are the GTX 1660 with 6GB of VRAM and RX 5500 XT with 8GB. Its processor examples are the Core i7-8700K and Ryzen 5 3600. Steam’s associated target is 1080p/30 FPS with upscaling enabled.

“Minimum” does not mean that every system meeting only some of these specifications will work, nor does the listing establish performance at higher resolutions or settings. Treat the whole configuration as a tier: check the processor, GPU, memory, operating system, DirectX 12, and SSD requirement rather than picking just one matching component. If 60 FPS or 1440p is important to you, the minimum tier does not state that outcome.

Recommended: the listed 1440p/60 FPS profile

The recommended tier is the more appropriate published reference if your goal is the stated 1440p/60 FPS target. It names a Core i5-10600K or Ryzen 5 5600X, paired with an RTX 3060 Ti 8GB or RX 6700 XT 12GB, plus 16GB RAM. Steam specifies upscaling for this target. The listing does not say what graphics settings are used, provide a measured frame-rate range, or establish that every system with one of these parts will sustain 60 FPS in all situations.

Use the recommended tier as a component-matching target, not a promise that the game will look or perform a particular way on a retail PC. The requirements page is not a substitute for post-release tests, and it does not tell you how a different graphics card compares in this specific game.

Above the recommended tier: no published target to extrapolate

The official listings reviewed here do not publish a higher tier for 4K, maximum settings, a higher frame rate, or other performance goals. A more powerful PC may be worth considering for other games or personal preferences, but the listing alone cannot establish its Phantom Blade Zero performance. Avoid treating “more powerful than recommended” as a specific promise about resolution, image quality, or frame rate.

How to assess a complete PC listing

When comparing prebuilt desktops, match the parts named in the game’s requirements before comparing secondary features. Listings often emphasize one component or use broad product-family names. Verify the exact model in the specifications, including the graphics card’s VRAM, and do not assume an advertised GPU family means the same configuration as the official example.

  1. Decide on your target. Choose whether you are assessing against Steam’s 1080p/30 FPS minimum tier or its 1440p/60 FPS recommended tier. Both targets include upscaling.
  2. Read the exact GPU model and VRAM. For minimum, look for one of the listed examples: GTX 1660 6GB or RX 5500 XT 8GB. For recommended, look for RTX 3060 Ti 8GB or RX 6700 XT 12GB. A listing that only says “GeForce RTX” or “Radeon RX” is not specific enough to make this comparison.
  3. Check the processor model. Match the chosen tier’s named Intel or AMD example. Do not rely on a seller’s description of a processor as “fast” or “gaming-ready” when the exact model is available in the system specifications.
  4. Confirm 16GB RAM. Both published tiers list 16GB. The listings do not state a higher memory requirement for the recommended profile.
  5. Verify Windows and DirectX. The specifications call for Windows 10/11 64-bit and DirectX 12. Check the exact installed operating system and graphics/API support in the listing or system details rather than inferring them from the PC’s age or price.
  6. Confirm an SSD is included. SSD installation is required, but the game’s listings do not specify a capacity. Check that the PC actually includes an SSD and has enough free space for the game; no required game-install size is stated on the reviewed pages.
  7. Inspect the rest of the system before buying. Check the seller’s exact details for power supply, cooling, case space, warranty, upgrade options, and price. These are sensible purchase checks, not additional requirements published for the game.

For a comparison between two complete PCs, put their exact CPU, GPU and VRAM, RAM, SSD, operating system, and price side by side. Then check warranty, power supply, cooling, and upgradeability in each system’s own listing. Those commercial details vary by product and are not established by the game’s requirements page, so do not assume them from a model name or a photograph.

Assess a PC you already own

Use the same component-by-component comparison if you are deciding whether to keep an existing PC rather than buy a new one. Find the precise CPU and GPU model in Windows or the computer maker’s specification page; then compare those names with the relevant tier. Check the GPU’s listed VRAM, system memory, Windows edition, and whether the game can be installed on an SSD.

  • Both CPU and GPU match a tier: This is a match to the published component examples, not proof of measured performance. The listing does not establish results for your particular machine, settings, or cooling conditions.
  • One part is below the tier while another is above it: Do not assume the stronger part compensates for the weaker one. The requirements do not give a formula for trading CPU performance against GPU performance.
  • The model name is close but not identical: The official pages do not give equivalency tables for other models. Without game-specific comparative tests, the component name alone is not enough to establish how it will perform.
  • You have a laptop: Do not treat a laptop GPU with a similar name as equivalent to the desktop card in the listing. No laptop GPU equivalencies or laptop-specific results are provided by the official pages.

The important distinction is between “matches the published example” and “has been shown to achieve the target.” Before release, the listings support the first statement, not the second. If your decision depends on a precise frame rate, maximum settings, or a laptop comparison, wait for results that test that exact configuration after the game is available.

Understand the role of each listed component

Graphics card and VRAM

The requirements give a GPU model and VRAM amount for each graphics example, so compare both. The minimum examples list 6GB and 8GB; the recommended examples list 8GB and 12GB. This does not mean that VRAM alone determines whether a card meets a tier: the named GPU model is part of the specification too. The listings do not state a stand-alone VRAM threshold or explain how different GPU models compare.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Processor

Each tier names Intel and AMD processor examples. Compare exact model numbers rather than assuming that a newer-sounding family name automatically meets the target. The official requirements do not provide a benchmark score, a list of equivalent CPUs, or a rule for judging processors from a different generation.

Memory

Both profiles list 16GB RAM. That is the amount specified for the minimum and recommended tiers; the pages do not provide a separate recommendation for other applications running at the same time. When assessing a prebuilt, confirm the installed total rather than relying on a product title or an upgrade option that is not included in the configuration you plan to buy.

SSD, operating system, and DirectX

An SSD is required for installation, but no capacity is published. Windows 10/11 64-bit and DirectX 12 appear in both tiers. These are requirements to verify alongside the CPU and GPU, not details to skip because a PC otherwise appears to match. The listed Windows versions are the ones specified by the stores; the pages do not give a separate operating-system edition or a game install size.

Upscaling

Steam includes “with upscaling enabled” in both performance notes. That qualification matters: the listed 1080p/30 FPS and 1440p/60 FPS targets are not described as native-resolution results with upscaling disabled. The pages reviewed do not name an upscaling method or provide settings instructions, so there is no basis here for choosing a particular technology or predicting how it affects image quality.

Why laptop GPU names need extra caution

A laptop and desktop can use graphics cards with related or similar names without providing equivalent results. The official requirements name desktop-style GPU examples and do not list laptop equivalents. They also provide no tested laptop configurations, power limits, or laptop performance data. Therefore, a laptop with an RTX- or Radeon-branded GPU cannot be confirmed as meeting a tier solely from the shared family name.

If you are considering a laptop, get its exact GPU model and configuration from the manufacturer’s full specifications. Then look for a post-release test of that specific laptop or GPU configuration in Phantom Blade Zero. Until such evidence exists, do not promise yourself the desktop tier’s resolution or frame-rate target based on a name match. The same caution applies to an existing laptop: the official pages do not establish that it can deliver a particular result.

What the requirements do—and do not—tell you

System requirements are useful for narrowing down candidate PCs, but they are not an independent benchmark. The Steam and Epic pages give a pair of named hardware profiles and operating-system/API requirements. Steam attaches resolution and frame-rate targets to those profiles; Epic’s rendered section does not display those notes. Neither page supplies measured test methodology, game settings, a performance range, or results from retail computers.

That means you can use the listings to identify the intended hardware tiers, but not to answer every buying question. They do not establish:

  • Whether a specific PC will maintain a fixed frame rate throughout the game.
  • Which graphics settings correspond to the listed targets.
  • Performance at 4K, maximum settings, or above the recommended tier.
  • How desktop GPU examples compare with laptop GPUs or other unlisted models.
  • The SSD capacity needed, the game’s install size, or how much free space to reserve.

Those limits are especially important before release. The Steam store description presents the game as “a fusion of classic Wuxia storytelling and exhilarating action powered by Unreal Engine 5.” That description is useful context for the type of game, but it is not a technical test or a basis for predicting performance. Steam store listing.

A practical decision checklist

Before you buy or rule out a PC, work through these checks in order:

  1. Set a realistic reference target. Use the minimum tier only if the published 1080p/30 FPS target suits your expectations. Use the recommended tier as the reference for Steam’s 1440p/60 FPS target. Both are stated with upscaling enabled.
  2. Match all the named hardware, not just the headline GPU. Check the processor and graphics card against the same tier. Record the exact GPU model and VRAM.
  3. Check the common requirements. Confirm 16GB RAM, Windows 10/11 64-bit, DirectX 12, and an SSD.
  4. Separate a specification match from a performance guarantee. A PC matching the component examples aligns with the published profile, but the pages do not report test results for that individual system.
  5. For laptops or unlisted parts, seek model-specific evidence. Similar names do not establish equivalence. Wait for tests of the exact configuration if its performance is central to your purchase.
  6. Compare the actual system deal. Check the exact included components, price, warranty, cooling, power supply, and upgrade options in the seller’s listing. None of those commercial details are supplied by the game’s requirements.

If a listing hides an exact CPU, GPU, VRAM amount, or SSD detail, ask the seller or consult the manufacturer’s specification before treating the system as a match. If the seller cannot confirm a component, count it as unverified rather than filling in the missing detail from a product photo or a broad marketing label.

Bottom line for choosing a PC

For a straightforward comparison, use the published tiers as a checklist: GTX 1660 6GB or RX 5500 XT 8GB with a Core i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600 for the minimum profile; RTX 3060 Ti 8GB or RX 6700 XT 12GB with a Core i5-10600K or Ryzen 5 5600X for the recommended profile. Both tiers list 16GB RAM, Windows 10/11 64-bit, DirectX 12, and an SSD. Steam associates them with 1080p/30 FPS and 1440p/60 FPS, respectively, with upscaling enabled. Because Phantom Blade Zero is not yet released as of October 13, 2026, use those figures as pre-release targets—not verified results for a particular desktop or laptop.
