Start with your country, budget, storage requirement, camera priorities, and carrier. There is no universally best Nothing Phone because the lineup, prices, SIM options, network bands, and availability vary by market. As a practical starting point, compare the exact local versions of Phone (3a), Phone (3a) Pro, and any newer model sold in your country. The Phone (3a) is the lower-priced reference point; the Phone (3a) Pro adds a periscope telephoto camera and other higher-tier hardware. Before ordering, confirm the model number, storage configuration, supported LTE/5G bands, carrier approval, and services such as VoLTE, Wi‑Fi calling, and 5G.
Decide which Nothing Phone type fits you
Use your priorities to narrow the list before comparing specifications. A lower price is useful only if the phone still has the storage, camera reach, SIM arrangement, and carrier support you need.
- Best starting point for value: Compare Phone (3a) first. Its regional product information lists a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2× optical zoom, and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. It is the less expensive of the two 3a models on the UK pages checked in 2026.
- For more serious zoom photography: Examine Phone (3a) Pro. Its cited regional specification lists a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 50 MP periscope camera with 3× optical zoom, and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. The periscope design gives it a longer native optical reach than the 3a.
- For a larger, high-refresh display and balanced performance: The Phone (3a) Pro page describes a 6.77-inch 120 Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, and 5,000 mAh battery. Confirm those specifications on the local page because specifications can differ by model or region.
- For a newer or different tier: The UK collection snapshot lists Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (4a), Phone (4b), Phone (3), Phone (3a) Lite, Phone (3a) Pro, and Phone (3a). That is a UK collection snapshot, not a guarantee that every country sells every model. Start with the official store for the market where you will activate the phone.
Do not choose from a headline such as “Pro” alone. Write down the exact model, regional variant, storage size, SIM type, and price, then verify those details together.

Collection pages change as products launch, sell out, or leave a market. Treat the list as a starting inventory, not a worldwide catalogue. A model name can also hide different memory, storage, radio-band, or SIM configurations.
Set a realistic budget using the exact storage version
Prices below are examples displayed on official regional pages when accessed in 2026. They are not a like-for-like comparison: two are UK prices and one is a European checkout price. Local taxes, storage, promotions, stock, and retailer pricing can change the amount you pay.
| Model and page region | Displayed price | How to use the figure |
|---|---|---|
| Phone (3a), UK page | £329 | Use as a UK reference for the displayed configuration; confirm the current storage option and checkout total. |
| Phone (3a) Pro, UK page | £399 | Use as a UK reference only; verify the exact storage version, taxes, stock, and current price. |
| Phone (3a) Pro, Europe checkout page | €459 | Use as a European regional example, not as a conversion or worldwide price. |
When comparing two listings, record the currency, country, storage capacity, seller, tax treatment, and whether the price is a temporary promotion. A cheaper 128 GB phone may be a worse buy than a slightly more expensive 256 GB version if you keep large games, offline video, or many photos. Conversely, paying for a Pro model solely to obtain more storage makes little sense if both listings offer the same capacity and your priority is everyday use rather than optical zoom.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
A simple budget worksheet
- Write the maximum amount you can spend after tax and delivery.
- Choose the minimum storage capacity you will keep for the phone’s entire ownership period.
- List any required extras, such as a case, charger, or import fees.
- Compare only listings that match the same currency, storage, warranty region, and seller type.
- Keep a small reserve for a price change between comparison and checkout.
Compare camera hardware by the kind of photos you take
Megapixel counts do not by themselves predict image quality. Lens design, sensor size, stabilisation, processing, focus performance, and lighting all matter. The useful distinction in the cited 3a specifications is the telephoto hardware.
Phone (3a)
- 50 MP main camera with OIS.
- 50 MP telephoto camera with 2× optical zoom.
- 8 MP ultra-wide camera.
Choose this arrangement if you want a dedicated telephoto camera for portraits and moderately distant subjects but do not routinely need the longer reach of a periscope module.
Phone (3a) Pro
- 50 MP main camera with OIS.
- 50 MP periscope camera with 3× optical zoom.
- 8 MP ultra-wide camera.
Choose the Pro when native 3× optical reach is important for stage performances, travel details, portraits from farther away, or framing a subject without moving closer. Optical zoom is not the same as unlimited lossless zoom: beyond the native range, the phone still relies on computational or digital techniques.
Questions to ask before paying for a camera upgrade
- Do you frequently photograph distant subjects, or do you mostly use the main camera?
- Will you take photos in low light, where stabilisation and processing may matter more than resolution?
- Do you need an ultra-wide view for architecture, interiors, or groups?
- Are you comparing the same regional software and camera features?
If your answers favour ordinary snapshots and social media, the less expensive model may leave more budget for storage or protection. If zoom framing is central to your photography, compare the 2× telephoto and 3× periscope specifications directly rather than treating both phones as having interchangeable cameras.
Check the display, processor, memory, battery, and charging together
Phone performance is a system decision. A fast processor paired with insufficient storage, or a large battery paired with a display that does not suit your use, may not deliver the experience you expect.
Display
The Phone (3a) Pro regional page describes a 6.77-inch 120 Hz AMOLED display. A 120 Hz panel can make scrolling and supported animations appear smoother than lower-refresh displays, while AMOLED technology generally enables deep blacks and high contrast. Confirm the exact size, refresh-rate modes, brightness claims, and panel technology on the model page for your market; do not transfer the Pro’s display specification to every Nothing Phone.
Processor and memory
The same Pro page names the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. Compare the exact chip, RAM capacity, and storage type for every candidate. For messaging, browsing, video, and photography, mid-range hardware may be sufficient. Heavy games, long-term multitasking, and demanding camera processing make memory and sustained performance more important. Do not infer performance from the “Pro” label without checking the processor and RAM in the exact listing.
Battery and charging
The Phone (3a) Pro page lists a 5,000 mAh battery. Battery life also depends on brightness, refresh rate, signal strength, camera use, gaming, and software. Check the stated charging speed, whether a charger is included in your region, and replacement or warranty terms before purchase. Capacity alone does not establish how many hours the phone will last.

The cited regional Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro pages list three years of Android updates and six years of security patches. These are model-page claims for those regional listings, not a blanket promise for every Nothing Phone or every country. On the local product page, look for the update start point, the meaning of “years,” and whether the term is measured from launch, first sale, or another date.
Support length should influence how long you intend to keep the phone. If you replace phones frequently, camera, price, or carrier compatibility may dominate. If you plan to keep one handset for many years, a clearly stated security-support period and a model sold through an authorized channel matter more than a small short-term discount.
Check SIM and eSIM requirements before ordering
The regional Phone (3a) page cited for this comparison lists no eSIM and dual physical SIM capability. That information applies to that exact regional model. Other Nothing models or markets may use a different arrangement, so never assume that a phone with the same family name supports eSIM.
Confirm all of the following in the local specification sheet:

- Number of physical SIM slots.
- Whether both slots support the services and network generations you need.
- eSIM availability and activation method, if required.
- Whether a microSD card slot exists if expandable storage is important.
- Any restrictions when two SIMs are active simultaneously.
If you rely on an eSIM for travel or a second line, a “no eSIM” listing is a decisive incompatibility even when the phone’s processor and cameras meet your needs.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Confirm carrier and regional compatibility in four checks
A phone can list a carrier’s frequency band and still fail to provide every service. Complete these checks with the exact model variant and your carrier before buying.
- Identify the precise variant. Copy the model or regional code from the seller’s listing and the manufacturer’s specification page. Do not rely only on the retail name “Phone (3a)” or “Phone (3a) Pro.”
- Compare LTE and 5G bands. Match the variant’s published bands with the bands used by your carrier in the locations where you will use the phone. Check both low-frequency coverage bands and capacity bands where your carrier distinguishes them.
- Verify device approval. Ask the carrier whether it allows that exact model and variant on its network. Approval can depend on an IMEI database, firmware, region, or a carrier-branded certification process.
- Verify individual services. Ask specifically about VoLTE, Wi‑Fi calling, 5G access, emergency calling, visual voicemail, tethering, and dual-SIM behaviour. A band match alone does not prove that these features will activate.
Request the answer in writing or save the carrier’s compatibility result with the model number and IMEI. If the carrier cannot confirm support, treat the phone as uncertain rather than assuming that an unlocked handset will work fully.
Why old US beta information is not a current verdict
Nothing’s US beta-program page says the program has ended and warns that its compatibility details are historical. Its wording is: These compatibility details are provided for historical reference and may no longer reflect current carrier support.
Use that statement to understand the limitation of the old beta information, not as proof that a current retail model is compatible or incompatible. Current support must come from your carrier and the exact model documentation.

Use a market-specific buying workflow
- Choose the country of activation. Buying from another country can change taxes, warranty handling, bands, SIM configuration, and return rights.
- Open the local official store. Record every model currently sold, its storage options, and the displayed price. The UK collection is not automatically the complete range elsewhere.
- Shortlist two or three candidates. Keep the model names and regional variants exact; do not mix specifications from different markets.
- Compare the hardware that affects your use. Check camera modules and optical zoom, display size and technology, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and charging.
- Read the support statement. Note Android-update and security-patch periods for the exact model page.
- Check SIM and bands. Confirm physical SIM and eSIM arrangements, then compare the published bands with your carrier’s requirements.
- Ask the carrier for approval. Provide the model code or IMEI and confirm VoLTE, Wi‑Fi calling, 5G, and other services you use.
- Review the transaction. Confirm seller identity, warranty region, return window, taxes, delivery, storage capacity, and stock immediately before paying.
- Inspect the delivered phone. Match the model and storage printed on the box to your order, check the IMEI, install the latest available updates, and test calls, mobile data, Wi‑Fi calling, 5G, both SIMs, cameras, and charging while the return period remains open.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Comparing prices across currencies as if they were equivalent
£399 on a UK page and €459 on a European checkout page are regional examples, not a currency conversion or a global price. Compare the final local checkout totals for the same storage and warranty conditions.
Assuming “Pro” guarantees every upgrade
The Pro’s documented advantage in this comparison is the 3× periscope camera, along with the listed display, processor, and battery specifications. Verify RAM, storage, charging, and software terms instead of inferring them from the name.
Using megapixels as a quality score
Both cited 3a models list 50 MP main and telephoto cameras, yet their optical designs differ. Lens reach, stabilisation, processing, and shooting conditions determine whether the hardware helps your photos.
Checking bands but not services
Frequency compatibility does not establish VoLTE, Wi‑Fi calling, 5G provisioning, emergency calling, or tethering. Obtain carrier confirmation for each service you depend on.

Assuming a regional SIM specification applies worldwide
The cited Phone (3a) regional page lists dual physical SIMs and no eSIM. A different market can ship a different configuration. Read the specification for the phone you will actually receive.
Buying accessories before confirming the phone
The official Phone (3a) Pro listing says a screen protector is pre-applied, so a replacement protector is not automatically necessary. Decide whether you need a case after confirming the exact model and fit. Accessory inventory, fit, seller, and return terms should be checked separately.
Decision examples
You want the lowest price and ordinary daily use
Start with Phone (3a), then compare its local storage version with the Pro at the same capacity. If you do not need 3× optical zoom, put the price difference toward adequate storage, a case, or a longer warranty rather than paying for hardware you will not use.
You photograph distant subjects often
Start with Phone (3a) Pro because its listed 50 MP periscope camera provides 3× optical zoom, compared with the 3a’s 2× telephoto. Confirm that the Pro’s regional price fits your budget and that the carrier and SIM configuration are acceptable.
You need two physical lines
Verify the exact regional listing. The cited Phone (3a) page specifies dual physical SIM capability, but you should not generalize that arrangement to another model or country.
You need an eSIM for travel
Exclude any variant whose specification says no eSIM. Ask the seller and carrier to confirm eSIM support in writing before ordering a model whose market configuration is unclear.
You will keep the phone for years
Give substantial weight to the exact model’s stated Android and security-support periods, authorized warranty coverage, storage capacity, and repair or return terms. The cited 3a regional pages list three years of Android updates and six years of security patches; verify that promise on the local page before purchase.
