Short answer: treat wireless charging and magnetic attachment as two separate compatibility questions. OnePlus has announced the OnePlus 16 with a 9,000mAh battery and 50W wireless charging, but that specification does not confirm a built-in magnetic ring or support for a snap-on battery. Before buying a magnetic pack, verify an official OnePlus 16 magnetic case and explicit compatibility with the OnePlus Slim Magnetic Power Bank (MBPV01). For desk charging, the OnePlus AIRVOOC 50W Wireless Charger is the more clearly defined option, although it is a stand-style charger rather than a magnetic battery pack and its page does not list the OnePlus 16.
What the OnePlus 16 charging specifications actually establish
Android Authority reports that OnePlus officially announced a 9,000mAh battery and 50W wireless charging for the OnePlus 16 in 2026. Those are phone-side charging specifications: they indicate that the handset can accept wireless power, subject to the final regional model, charging protocol and software limits. They do not, by themselves, establish magnetic attachment.
A phone can support Qi or a proprietary wireless protocol while having no magnets at all. A magnetic battery pack needs a reliable magnetic interface in the phone or in a case designed for that phone. The published OnePlus 16 specification does not confirm that interface, the location or strength of any magnetic ring, or the existence of a compatible magnetic case.

OnePlus also reports 100W wired charging for the OnePlus 16. That is useful context when you need the fastest recovery, but it does not make a wireless accessory faster and does not answer whether a battery pack will attach. Wireless and wired charging should be evaluated separately.

Wireless charging and magnetic attachment are different tests
Wireless charging compatibility
Wireless charging asks whether the phone and charger exchange power through a supported protocol, such as Qi or AIRVOOC, and whether the coils are positioned closely enough. A phone may charge when laid on a flat pad or stand even if nothing can stick to its back.
Magnetic attachment compatibility
Magnetic attachment asks whether the phone or its case contains a correctly positioned magnetic array that can hold the accessory without slipping. The case must also leave the charging coils aligned and must be rated for the accessory’s weight and heat. A generic adhesive ring, a metal plate and a magnetic case are not equivalent: they can alter alignment, interfere with charging or create a safety problem.
For the OnePlus 16, the second question remains open in the available official material. Do not infer a magnetic interface from the 50W wireless figure, and do not assume that a case made for another OnePlus model will align correctly.

The two relevant products serve different use cases. The Slim Magnetic Power Bank is a portable battery that is intended to stay with the phone. The AIRVOOC 50W Wireless Charger is a stationary charger that holds the handset in a stand position. Their maximum wattages are not directly comparable because one is a battery-powered accessory with conversion losses and the other is a mains-powered charging stand.

OnePlus’s magnetic power-bank manual says: “To avoid abnormal conditions when using the magnetic power bank, it is necessary to use it with the official magnetic protective case.” The manual identifies the pack as model MBPV01, but it does not name the OnePlus 16 or establish that an official OnePlus 16 case is available. That missing link is the most important buying check.

The AIRVOOC product information says the charger works with Qi and AIRVOOC devices and that delivered power varies with the receiving product and positioning. It does not list the OnePlus 16 in the material available for this guide. It also warns users not to place magnets, metal items, magnetic cards or other foreign objects between the phone and the charger. The warning reinforces that this product is a charging stand, not a magnetic attachment system.
Choose the type of accessory first
Choose a magnetic battery pack when portability is the priority
A battery pack makes sense when you need power while walking, travelling or sitting away from an outlet. A pack that genuinely aligns with the phone can eliminate a dangling cable, but only after the phone-and-case combination is verified. The MBPV01’s 10W wireless ceiling is far below the OnePlus 16’s reported 50W wireless capability, so it should be viewed as a convenience charger rather than a maximum-speed charger.

That gives you a wired fallback from the pack, but it remains a 10W accessory output and cannot reproduce the OnePlus 16’s reported 100W wired charging capability. The 5,000mAh rated capacity describes the pack under its rating conditions; conversion from the internal cell to a phone battery involves voltage conversion and other losses.
Choose a stand charger for desk or bedside use
The AIRVOOC 50W Wireless Charger is better suited to a fixed location. A stand keeps the phone visible for notifications and does not require the battery pack to be carried on the handset. If the OnePlus 16 is eventually confirmed as an AIRVOOC-compatible receiver, the charger could use its higher power ceiling; however, the product’s 50W rating is not proof that a OnePlus 16 will charge at 50W.
Because OnePlus warns against magnets and metal between the phone and charger, remove magnetic plates, wallets and other foreign objects from the charging interface. Check the local bundle for the required power adapter and cable: the charger needs an appropriate input to reach its maximum rating.

Verification checklist before buying a magnetic pack
- Identify the exact phone variant. Confirm that the handset is the OnePlus 16 rather than a similarly named model, and note the sales region. Accessory listings can differ by market.
- Find an official magnetic case listing. Look for a case explicitly described for the OnePlus 16, not a generic case with an adhesive ring. The available OnePlus manual requires the official magnetic protective case for MBPV01 use.
- Check the case-and-pack pairing. The case listing should name MBPV01 or the exact magnetic power-bank model. A case that merely says “magnetic” does not establish alignment or holding strength.
- Confirm that the case supports wireless charging. A metal plate or thick insert can block or misalign the charging coil. The case should state that wireless charging remains supported with the accessory attached.
- Inspect the attachment orientation. The ring must place the pack’s coil over the phone’s coil. A pack that sticks but sits off-centre can charge slowly, disconnect or heat up.
- Check the pack’s output against your expectations. MBPV01 is rated at up to 10W wirelessly and through USB-C. Do not buy it expecting the OnePlus 16’s 50W wireless rate.
- Read the return terms. Compatibility is not established until the phone, case and pack are tested together. A return option matters if the official listing changes or the pack will not hold securely.
Verification checklist before buying a stationary wireless charger
- Confirm protocol support. Look for an explicit OnePlus 16 or AIRVOOC compatibility statement. Qi support alone may provide charging, but it does not guarantee the highest speed.
- Confirm the regional power requirements. Check whether the package includes the adapter and cable needed for the advertised input. A 50W maximum output cannot be reached if the supplied power source is insufficient.
- Check the phone’s position on the stand. Camera bumps and thick cases can prevent the coils from sitting at the intended height. The phone should rest securely without being forced against the stand.
- Remove magnetic or metallic objects. Follow OnePlus’s warning about magnets, metal items, magnetic cards and other foreign objects between the phone and charger.
- Use the charger’s status indicators and temperature behaviour. A repeated start-stop cycle or unusually high heat is a reason to reposition the phone, remove the case for a test and stop using the setup if the condition persists.
How to test a magnetic setup safely
Perform the first test with the phone’s battery above 30 percent and with the pack disconnected from other devices. This gives you time to observe alignment without relying on the accessory during an emergency.

- Place the case flat on the phone and remove cards, coins, metal plates and wallet attachments.
- Bring the MBPV01 to the centre of the case without forcing it into place. The pack should settle into one repeatable position rather than slide around.
- Start wireless charging and watch for the phone’s charging indicator. Leave the arrangement undisturbed for several minutes.
- Check whether charging remains active when the phone is lifted, set down or gently moved. A connection that drops with normal handling is not suitable for portable use.
- Feel the phone and pack for excessive heat. Mild warmth can occur during wireless charging; rapidly increasing heat, an error message or repeated disconnection means you should stop and investigate.
- Test the USB-C output separately if you need a wired fallback. Use a cable in good condition and verify that the pack’s indicator behaves normally.
This test demonstrates that your particular combination works; it does not turn the accessory’s maximum rating into a guaranteed OnePlus 16 charging speed. Battery state, temperature, software limits and alignment can all reduce the instantaneous rate.
How to set up the AIRVOOC stand
- Place the stand on a stable, ventilated surface close to the required power source.
- Connect the specified adapter and cable before placing the phone on the stand.
- Remove magnetic wallets, metal plates and cards from the area between the handset and the stand.
- Center the OnePlus 16 on the charging area, accounting for the camera bump and the thickness of its case.
- Confirm that the phone reports charging, then leave it still for a few minutes.
- If the phone does not charge, test without the case and reposition it before changing other components.
Do not attach a magnetic battery pack to the phone while it is on the stand. OnePlus’s warning is specifically about magnets and foreign objects between the phone and charger, and the stand is not documented as a magnetic mounting system.
Understanding capacity, output and real-world runtime
Capacity numbers on a power bank are easy to misread. MBPV01 has a 5,100mAh cell-rated capacity and a 5,000mAh rated capacity, while its rated output capacity is 2,700mAh at 5V/2A. The output figure is measured after the pack’s internal voltage is converted to a 5V output, so it is not directly comparable to the OnePlus 16’s 9,000mAh battery label.
Wireless transmission introduces additional losses, and heat-management limits can reduce power as the phone approaches a high state of charge. Consequently, neither the 5,000mAh label nor the 10W wireless maximum tells you exactly how many percentage points the pack will add to a OnePlus 16. Treat the ratings as a way to compare the accessory with other packs, not as a guaranteed refill percentage.

Common mistakes and how to correct them
Assuming 50W wireless charging means magnetic charging
Why it fails: the 50W figure describes wireless power acceptance, not a mechanical attachment feature.
Correction: verify a phone-specific magnetic case and an explicit MBPV01 compatibility statement before buying a snap-on pack.
Using a generic metal plate under the case
Why it fails: the plate can sit over the coil, weaken charging or conflict with OnePlus’s warning about metal and foreign objects.
Correction: use only a case and accessory combination documented for the phone and pack.

Reading 5,000mAh as delivered phone capacity
Why it fails: cell capacity, rated capacity and output capacity are measured at different points in the power conversion chain.

Buying the AIRVOOC stand without checking the bundle

Which option fits each situation?

What is confirmed and what still needs confirmation
The confirmed phone-side information is OnePlus’s reported 9,000mAh battery and 50W wireless charging, with 100W wired charging reported as additional context. The confirmed MBPV01 information is its model number, capacity ratings and 10W maximum wireless and USB-C outputs, together with OnePlus’s requirement to use an official magnetic protective case. The confirmed AIRVOOC information is its 50W maximum, Qi/AIRVOOC support and the warning to keep magnets and foreign objects away from the charging interface.
Two buying questions remain unresolved in the available material: whether OnePlus sells an official OnePlus 16 magnetic protective case, and whether OnePlus explicitly certifies that case with MBPV01; and whether OnePlus lists the AIRVOOC 50W Wireless Charger as compatible with the OnePlus 16, including the required local adapter and cable.
