“70 keyboard” does not identify one standard layout in the models covered here. Keychron uses “70 Layout Keyboards” as a category label, but its K2 Pro is specified as an 84-key, 75% keyboard. NuPhy describes its Halo75 V2 as ANSI 75%. If you want a compact board, compare the actual layout and features rather than relying on “70%” as a precise specification.
What does “70 keyboard” mean?
The phrase can be used as a broad category label, but it is not precise enough to confirm a keyboard’s key count or layout. For example, Keychron’s category is titled “70 Layout Keyboards,” while the K2 Pro product page specifies 84 keys and a 75% layout. NuPhy identifies the Halo75 V2 as ANSI 75%. Neither model should be described as a 70% keyboard based on those specifications.
When shopping, check the manufacturer’s product-level description for layout and key count. “75%” is the more accurate label for the two examples below.

Start with the layout you actually need
Confirm the arrangement of keys against your desk, typing habits, and any applications that rely on particular keys. The K2 Pro’s stated 84-key, 75% specification gives a concrete reference; the Halo75 V2 is specified as ANSI 75%. If a listing only says “70,” look for a full layout diagram or an exact key count before buying.
Decide whether wireless matters
Keychron describes the K2 Pro as wireless. The cited NuPhy page details do not establish its connection modes, so check the current product listing if wireless use is essential rather than inferring it from the model name or category.

Choose the customization you will use
NuPhy lists QMK/VIA support for the Halo75 V2, which may suit buyers who want firmware-level key customization. The K2 Pro’s cited feature detail highlights hot-swapping; do not assume that one feature implies the other. Verify remapping support for the exact model and revision if it is a deciding factor.
Check switch compatibility before planning a swap
Both manufacturers describe hot-swap support for compatible MX-style switches; Keychron specifically says most 3-pin and 5-pin MX-style switches work with the K2 Pro without soldering. A switch’s pin configuration and the board’s supported socket type matter. Confirm compatibility for the specific switches you plan to use rather than treating “hot-swappable” as universal support.

Match the keyboard to work, gaming, or both
Choose by the combination of layout, connection, and customization you need—not by a generic “best” ranking. A community discussion offers one example of how a buyer might frame the decision: “I’m looking for a 75% keyboard that supports wireless for 100€ mostly for gaming but also for productivity.” That is one person’s request, not a representative survey or a current price recommendation. Use the same approach by listing your required layout, whether wireless is necessary, how you will use the board, and whether you intend to change switches.
The available product specifications do not establish comparative gaming performance, latency, sound, or overall value. Treat those as questions to verify through evidence relevant to your own priorities, not as advantages implied by the feature lists.

Check accessories for board-specific fit
MX-style switches and replacement keycaps can be relevant accessories, but compatibility depends on the keyboard. For switches, verify pin and socket compatibility. For keycaps, check the board’s layout and the sizes of its keys; a set intended for a different arrangement may not include the right sizes. Do not assume a generic accessory listing fits either model.
