There is no single best 4K TV for every room. For a bright space, compare peak brightness and reflection handling; for dark-room movies, prioritize black levels, shadow detail, and HDR presentation. Gaming needs add another check: the exact model’s refresh rate and HDMI 2.1 port count. The models below are starting points from 2026 coverage by RTINGS, TechRadar, and Samsung Canada, not a universal ranking. Prices, stock, and regional model names can change, so confirm the full SKU and current local offer before buying.

What are the best 4K TVs of 2026?

Think of these as use-case candidates rather than a single winner. RTINGS and TechRadar make recommendations using their own review methods and preferences, so their rankings need not match. The best fit depends on the room, the content you watch, gaming needs, and the exact model available where you live.

  • For a balanced OLED shortlist: investigate the LG C6 OLED. Current 2026 guides discuss it as a versatile option, but the evidence here does not establish it as the best choice for every buyer.
  • For dark-scene performance and gaming features: consider the Samsung S95H OLED. RTINGS describes it as more versatile overall than the Sony BRAVIA 9 II, particularly for dark scenes and gaming-feature breadth.
  • For a bright room: compare the Samsung QN90F and Sony BRAVIA 9 II. TechRadar identifies the QN90F as a bright-room Mini-LED option, while RTINGS calls the BRAVIA 9 II a strong bright-room choice relative to the S95H.
  • For high HDR brightness and a 144Hz panel: consider the TCL QM7L SQD Mini-LED, checking the tested size and input layout against the exact version for sale.

These distinctions are more useful than calling one TV “best” without knowing the buyer’s room or priorities.

Which TV should I buy for my room?

Bright rooms and reflections

In a sunny room or one with lamps facing the screen, look beyond panel type. Compare measured brightness and how well the screen handles reflections. Mini-LED LCD models can deliver high HDR brightness and can be a good match for bright viewing, but implementation differs: reflection handling, blooming around bright objects, picture processing, and price still matter.

TechRadar’s 2026 guide lists peak HDR brightness of 2,086 nits for its tested Samsung QN90F. That is a review measurement for that model, not a general Mini-LED figure. TechRadar also highlights the QN90F’s Glare Free screen and gaming support. RTINGS, using its own assessment, places the Sony BRAVIA 9 II among strong bright-room options relative to the S95H. Treat these as different review judgments, not a direct guarantee that one will look better in your room.

Dark rooms and movie watching

For films watched with the lights low, black level, shadow detail, and HDR presentation often matter more than maximum brightness. OLED is a credible option for this use because dark-scene performance is a major strength in the cited recommendations. The S95H is one candidate: RTINGS favors it over the BRAVIA 9 II for dark-scene performance, while also pointing to its broader gaming feature set.

Mixed use and family viewing

If the TV will handle sports, streaming, games, and movies at different times of day, shortlist a versatile model, then check that it meets your most demanding use. The LG C6 is included in current 2026 coverage as an OLED option and discussed as a versatile alternative. The cited material does not provide enough detail to declare it a universal all-round winner, so compare its regional SKU and size with other candidates before deciding.

How do OLED and Mini-LED differ in practice?

OLED and Mini-LED are useful starting points, not automatic verdicts. OLED is worth considering when dark-scene performance is central. Mini-LED LCD is worth considering when high HDR brightness and bright-room viewing are priorities. A well-matched TV still depends on the individual model’s reflection handling, blooming, price, image processing, and format support.

  • Choose by room first: account for daylight, lamps, and reflections on the screen.
  • Choose by content next: look at dark-scene detail for movies and highlight brightness for HDR viewing in a bright room.
  • Check the implementation: do not infer a model’s performance from the panel label alone.

What does the TCL QM7L offer for HDR and gaming?

TechRadar’s 2026 review describes the TCL QM7L SQD Mini-LED as having a 144Hz panel, Google TV, and support for HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision IQ. Its review measured peak HDR brightness at 2,270 nits in Filmmaker Mode and 2,419 nits in Standard Mode, with 95% P3 color coverage. These are TechRadar’s results for the model and modes it tested; they are not guaranteed figures for every size or sample.

Port limits matter if you connect a console and other high-bandwidth devices. The reviewed QM7L has four HDMI inputs: two HDMI 2.1 ports rated for 144Hz, plus two HDMI 2.0 ports limited to 60Hz. That layout is specific to the reviewed model; do not assume other TCL TVs share it. Before buying, confirm which inputs support the refresh rate and features you need, and plan which devices will use them.

What should gamers check before buying?

Marketing terms such as “gaming TV” do not answer whether a particular model fits your setup. Check the specification for the exact size and regional SKU, and verify:

  • Native refresh rate, such as 120Hz or 144Hz.
  • How many HDMI 2.1 inputs support the bandwidth and refresh rate you need.
  • VRR (variable refresh rate) and ALLM (automatic low latency mode) support.
  • HDR formats supported by the TV and your console or PC.
  • Input lag, if the review or specification provides it.

Port versions can differ within one TV: the QM7L review’s two HDMI 2.1 inputs support up to 144Hz, while its two HDMI 2.0 inputs are limited to 60Hz. Match your devices to the right inputs rather than counting all HDMI sockets as equivalent.

How should you compare the Samsung 2026 TV range?

Samsung Canada’s 2026 lineup guide names three OLED families—S95H, S90H, and S85H—and four Mini-LED families—M90H, M80H, M70H, and M60H. This list can help orient a shortlist, but it is not a substitute for checking the specification of the precise TV being sold. Samsung cautions that specifications and feature availability can vary by model and region.

The S95H appears in RTINGS’ 2026 recommendation coverage and Samsung Canada’s official OLED family list. That combination makes it a model to investigate, not proof that every regional version has identical features or that it suits every room. Confirm the full model code, screen size, and local specifications before comparing offers.

How to choose the right size, model, and offer

  1. Assess the room. Note when the TV will be watched, where windows and lamps are, and whether they reflect on the screen.
  2. Set your priority. Decide whether dark-scene movies, bright-room HDR, gaming, or a mix of uses matters most.
  3. Shortlist by use case. Compare the S95H or LG C6 for an OLED-led shortlist, the QN90F or BRAVIA 9 II for bright-room candidates, and the QM7L if its panel and input arrangement suit your setup.
  4. Verify the exact SKU and size. Check local specifications for refresh rate, HDMI features, HDR formats, and any size-specific differences. Regional suffixes and feature availability can vary.
  5. Compare the full purchase. Check current local price, stock, shipping, warranty, stand footprint, and port placement. If wall mounting, verify the TV’s VESA pattern and the mount’s load rating against the manual. Use a suitably certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cable only if your device-to-TV connection needs that bandwidth and the chosen input supports it.

Prices and offers change, and current guide coverage does not establish a universal price cutoff. Use live local listings rather than assuming a model’s price or availability is the same across regions.
