Open Settings > General > About, then find Carrier. The carrier settings version number appears beside that label. Tap the number to view additional carrier information.
This is different from your iOS software version. The About screen lists both, but they describe separate software: iOS belongs to the iPhone itself, while carrier settings support your mobile operator’s network features.
Find the carrier settings version on your iPhone
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Tap About.
- Scroll until you find Carrier.
- Read the version number shown next to Carrier.
- Tap the version number if you need additional carrier-specific information.
Apple’s interface can group some cellular information differently depending on the iPhone and cellular-plan configuration. In some views, the Carrier entry appears in an area associated with eSIM. Do not look only for a particular screen position; look for the visible Carrier label and the number beside it.

What the number tells you
The value beside Carrier identifies the carrier settings installed on the iPhone. These settings help iOS communicate with your mobile network and enable operator-specific capabilities.

Tap the number to expose any additional carrier information Apple makes available on that iPhone. The exact details shown can vary by carrier, plan and device configuration.
Carrier settings version versus iOS version

Updating iOS does not automatically give you the same information as checking the carrier settings number. When troubleshooting mobile service, record the Carrier value separately from the iOS Software Version.

Check whether a carrier settings update is available
Apple presents an update option on the About screen when a carrier settings update is available.
- Go to Settings > General > About.
- Wait briefly on the About screen while the iPhone checks for an available carrier update.
- If an update prompt appears, review it and follow the onscreen instructions.
Carrier settings updates can improve cellular connectivity and performance. Depending on what your carrier supports, an update may also add support for features such as 5G or Wi‑Fi Calling.

If no prompt appears, that only means no update is being offered through that screen at that moment. It does not establish that the installed settings are the latest available. Apple directs you to contact your carrier to verify whether the current settings are installed.
When a new SIM or eSIM needs carrier settings
Changing carriers, activating a new SIM, or setting up a new eSIM can require carrier settings for the new network. After activation, open Settings > General > About and watch for an update prompt. If one appears, complete the displayed steps.

The Carrier entry may be grouped under eSIM-related information on some screens. Use the Carrier label rather than relying on a fixed position in the list.

If you cannot find the Carrier entry
Look for the label, not a fixed location
Apple’s documentation describes the version as appearing next to Carrier, while troubleshooting views may describe it as being under eSIM. Screen grouping can therefore differ. Scroll through the entire About page and inspect the cellular or eSIM area for Carrier.

Confirm that you are in About
The carrier settings value is not shown in the main Settings list or under the iOS update screen. Use the complete path: Settings > General > About.
Ask the carrier to verify the installed version
If the Carrier field is absent or you need to know whether the number is current, contact your mobile carrier. The displayed number lets you report exactly which carrier settings the iPhone currently identifies, but only the carrier can confirm whether a newer version should be installed for your line.
Why checking the version can help with cellular troubleshooting
The version check gives you a precise software detail to include when discussing network problems with your carrier or Apple Support. It can help distinguish a carrier-settings question from an iOS-version question, because both values are listed separately in About.
