On an iPhone, use Safari (or another browser) to sign in to the official Bee Network smart-card account associated with your card. TfGM’s terms say that registering or associating a card enables access to transaction data, while the Bee Network FAQ says you can view the products loaded on a smart card online. The published guidance does not establish that this is a live cash balance or a complete tap-by-tap journey history, and it does not document a dedicated iPhone app workflow.
What you can and cannot check online
The phrase “card balance” can mean several different things. A Bee Network smart card is used for eligible bus and Metrolink products, but the official material reviewed does not describe it as a bank-style stored-value card. The online account is documented as showing transaction data and products on the card; those terms should not be silently changed to mean a monetary balance or a complete record of every journey.

What you need before using an iPhone
- The physical Bee Card: Keep it available if you need to confirm its registration, collect a purchase or ask an information office to identify its products.
- The correct Bee Network account: A card obtained through the official website is associated with an online account. A card bought at an information and ticket office can be registered there or later.
- Internet access: The supported route described in the material is the Bee Network online account. Open it in Safari or another iPhone browser rather than relying on an unverified third-party card app.
- Your account sign-in details: Use the credentials for the account to which the card is registered or associated.
An unregistered card is the key limitation. TfGM’s terms say that an unregistered card is not associated with the customer, so the customer cannot access transaction data relating to its use through the account. If you have more than one card, identify which physical card is registered before troubleshooting what appears online.
How to check Bee Network card information on an iPhone
The official pages do not document current iPhone screenshots or exact button names. The steps below therefore describe the supported route without inventing labels that may differ in the live portal.

- Open a browser. Launch Safari on the iPhone, or use another current browser, and go to the official Bee Network smart-card account portal. Use the portal itself rather than an unofficial “balance checker.”
- Sign in to the account linked to the card. Enter the details for the Bee Network account that registered or associated the card. If you sign in to a different account, the card and its information may not appear.
- Open the area for your smart card or account activity. The portal is used for Bee Cards and for buying eligible bus and Metrolink tickets or travelcards. Look for the card, transaction or product information presented for your account. Do not infer a control name that is not visible on your screen.
- Read the information exactly as labelled. If the page lists products, record the product name, validity or status shown. If it lists transactions, distinguish an online purchase from a journey. Only call a figure a cash balance if the portal explicitly identifies it as one.
- Check the relevant card. If several cards or products are associated with your account, make sure the displayed item corresponds to the physical card you intend to use. A card can be linked to only one Bee Network smart-card online account.
- Keep a record if you need one. Use the browser’s normal share, print or save options to retain information that the portal displays. This creates a copy of what you can see; it does not turn product information into a full journey log.
If the portal offers only products and purchases, that is consistent with the official wording. The FAQ says, “You can see what products are on your smart card online or our information and ticket office staff can print this out for you.” It does not state that the page contains a monetary purse or every journey.
How to tell whether the card is registered
A card bought online
TfGM’s terms say a Bee Card obtained through the official website is associated with a Bee Network online account. Sign in with that account and look for the card and its associated information. If it is absent, first check that you used the account created or used during the order.

A card bought at an information and ticket office
A card obtained at an information and ticket office can be registered at the time of purchase or later. Until registration or association is completed, usage data is not available to you through the account. If staff registered it for you, ask which account details were used rather than creating a second account and assuming the card will move automatically.
A card that is already linked elsewhere
The current FAQ states that one card can be linked to only one Bee Network smart-card online account. An error while adding the card can therefore mean that it is already associated with another account. Do not repeatedly create accounts or enter the card into unrelated services. Contact Bee Network customer services for help resolving the association.

Checking products is not the same as collecting a ticket
The account portal can be used to buy eligible Bee Network tickets and travelcards for Greater Manchester buses and trams. A successful purchase may still need to be collected onto the physical card at a smart reader. That collection step is separate from viewing transaction or product information online.
When an online purchase has not loaded
- Take the Bee Card out of your wallet or card holder.
- Place the card on the smart reader and hold it there for at least a count of three.
- Keep the card still while the reader processes the purchase.
- Remove other smart cards, contactless bank cards, phones and building-entry cards from the immediate area. The FAQ warns that nearby cards and phones can interfere with the reader.
- After the reader has had the recommended time, check the card again according to the instructions at that location.
Holding a card to a reader does not provide evidence that the online account contains a complete travel history. It is a method for loading or collecting a ticket or travelcard.

Troubleshooting common iPhone problems

What “journey history” may mean in practice
A journey history normally implies a dated list of trips, boarding events, taps, routes, fares or stops. The official wording available here is narrower: TfGM refers to “transaction data relating to your online purchases,” while the FAQ refers to seeing “what products are on your smart card.” Those descriptions establish account purchases and card products, not a guaranteed event-by-event travel log.

A list of a weekly travelcard and its validity is a product view. A receipt for buying that travelcard is a transaction. Neither, by itself, proves that the account records each bus boarding or Metrolink gate entry. If you need evidence about a particular trip, ask Bee Network customer services what data can be supplied for your card and date; do not assume that an iPhone app, Apple Wallet or NFC scan will reveal it.

There is no documented iPhone app or Apple Wallet method in the cited guidance
The supported material identifies an online account but does not verify a current iOS app, an Apple Wallet pass, or an iPhone NFC feature for reading the card’s account data. An iPhone may be useful for opening the account in Safari, but that is different from tapping the physical card against the phone and receiving a balance. Avoid installing an unofficial app that asks for card or account credentials, and do not buy a generic NFC reader on the assumption that it can display TfGM account information.
Likewise, do not expect the iPhone’s contactless function to replace the smart reader used to collect an online-purchased ticket. The FAQ’s collection instruction is to hold the card to a smart reader for at least a count of three, with interfering cards and phones removed.
When to contact Bee Network support
Contact support when the card cannot be associated, appears to be linked to another account, or the information you need is not available in the portal. The current FAQ lists Bee Network customer services at 03000 035 035. Have the physical card available and describe the exact issue: missing card, failed account link, missing online purchase or a question about what data is available. If an information and ticket office is convenient, staff can print a list of the products on the smart card, according to the FAQ.
