You can check Aadhaar authentication activity through UIDAI’s official myAadhaar portal or the official Aadhaar app. Select Aadhaar Authentication History, enter your Aadhaar number or Virtual ID (VID), type the security code, and verify the one-time password (OTP) sent to the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar. The service lets you review activity from the previous six months, with a maximum of 50 records displayed in one view.
What you need before you start
Authentication history is protected by OTP verification. Prepare the following:
- Your Aadhaar number or 16-digit Virtual ID (VID).
- Access to the mobile phone number registered with your Aadhaar. The OTP is sent to this number; an unregistered or inaccessible number cannot complete the online check.
- A browser for the UIDAI myAadhaar portal or the official Aadhaar app installed on your phone.
- A date range within the previous six months if you are looking for a particular transaction.
Use only UIDAI’s official portal at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ or the official Aadhaar app. Do not enter your Aadhaar number or OTP into an unofficial website or an unsolicited message link.
Check Aadhaar authentication history on the UIDAI website
- Open myAadhaar. Go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/.
- Choose the history service. Select Aadhaar Authentication History from the available services.
- Identify yourself. Enter your Aadhaar number or VID, then enter the security code shown on the page.
- Request an OTP. Follow the portal’s prompt to request the one-time password.
- Verify the registered mobile. Enter the OTP delivered to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar. Do not share this code with another person.
- Set the period to inspect. Choose the relevant start and end dates in the calendar. UIDAI makes the previous six months available.
- Read the results. Review each row for the authentication method, time, organization, outcome, and any error code.
- Save a copy if necessary. Use the displayed download or print option for your personal records.
The date filter is useful when you know approximately when an event occurred. It also helps when a broad period contains more entries than can be shown in one result view.

Use the Aadhaar app instead
The same check is available in the official Aadhaar app. Open the app, select Aadhaar Authentication History, provide your Aadhaar number or VID and the security code, and complete the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. Then select the dates you want to inspect and review the returned transactions. UIDAI identifies both the website and Aadhaar app as official access channels.

The website and app require the same core identity inputs and registered-mobile OTP. Choose the channel that gives you a secure connection and convenient access to your registered phone.
What each authentication-history record means
A result can contain several identifiers. Read the fields together rather than treating a single code as the whole explanation.

An AUA name is not necessarily the name of the person who used your Aadhaar. It identifies the agency that sent the request. If you do not recognize the agency or timing, preserve the row’s date, time, transaction ID, response, and error code before contacting support.

Six-month coverage and the 50-record display limit
UIDAI states that authentication history is available for the previous six months. The service displays a maximum of 50 records at one time. A busy period may therefore require more than one search even though all of the activity is still inside the six-month window.
To inspect additional transactions, return to the calendar and select a narrower date range, such as one week or one month at a time. Work backward or forward through the six-month period and save each displayed set if you need a complete personal record. Keep the date range written alongside any printed page so that separate downloads are not confused later.
How to save or print the history safely
- Complete the history search and confirm that the selected dates are correct.
- Check that the visible rows include the transaction details you need, particularly the AUA, transaction ID, outcome, and error code.
- Use the portal or app’s displayed download or print function. If you print, collect every page belonging to the selected date range.
- Store the file or paper copy in a location protected from unauthorized access. Aadhaar-related records contain identifiers and activity details.
- If you searched several smaller date ranges, label each copy with its exact dates and keep them together.
Download and print copies are for personal reference. They do not change or delete the transactions stored in UIDAI’s history.

A failed result means the particular authentication request did not receive a successful response. Open the row and read the modality, AUA, response code, and UIDAI error code before deciding what to do. The failure code is more useful than the word “failed” by itself because it identifies the category UIDAI returned.

Examples of UIDAI failure codes

| 998 | Invalid Aadhaar number | Check whether the transaction was intended to use your Aadhaar and whether the agency’s reference identifies a data-entry problem. Ask the AUA to trace the transaction if you recognize the service. |
| 999 | Unknown error | Keep the complete row and ask the AUA or UIDAI to investigate, especially if the attempt repeats. |
These are examples listed by UIDAI, not an exhaustive interpretation of every possible response. For any code you do not understand, provide the complete transaction details to the agency that made the request or to UIDAI support.
What to do about an unfamiliar or suspicious entry
Do not ignore repeated attempts or a transaction you are certain you did not initiate. Use this response sequence:
- Document the evidence. Save or print the relevant row, including the date and time, modality, AUA name, AUA transaction ID and code, authentication response, UIDAI response code, and error code.
- Lock Aadhaar biometrics or Aadhaar. UIDAI advises using the UIDAI website or app to lock your Aadhaar biometrics (or Aadhaar) when you see repeated or suspicious attempts. Follow the locking option presented in the official channel you are using.
- Contact the AUA. The AUA named in the record can examine its own request logs and explain why the authentication was submitted. Give it the transaction ID and the precise time rather than only saying that an entry looks unfamiliar.
- Report it to UIDAI. Email help@uidai.gov.in or call the UIDAI helpline at 1947. Include the saved record and explain which activity you do not recognize.
Locking is a protective response to suspicious activity; it does not erase the historical row. Keep the evidence until the AUA or UIDAI has completed its response.
When the OTP or history search does not work
The OTP does not arrive
The service requires the mobile number registered with Aadhaar. Confirm that you are checking that phone and that the number is available to receive messages, then request the OTP again from the official page or app. If you cannot access the registered number, the online history check cannot be completed through OTP; contact UIDAI at 1947 for guidance.

The security code is rejected
Re-enter the security code exactly as displayed and submit it again. If the page shows a new code after an error, use the current code rather than one from an earlier attempt.
You cannot find an expected transaction
Verify that the transaction date falls inside the six-month service window. Then search a narrower range around the date and check that you are using the correct Aadhaar number or VID. If the agency says it submitted a request but the row is still absent, ask that AUA to verify its transaction reference and contact UIDAI if necessary.
A result contains more activity than the page shows
The display limit is 50 records per result. Split the period into smaller calendar ranges and repeat the search until you have covered the dates you need.

Record the time of the attempt and any error text, then retry through the official UIDAI channel. For a persistent problem, contact UIDAI at 1947 and provide the error details. Avoid switching to third-party sites that claim to display Aadhaar history.

How to interpret an AUA you do not recognize
The AUA field identifies the organization that sent an authentication request, but a name alone may not immediately remind you of the service involved. Compare the transaction’s date and time with bank, telecom, government, travel, employment, or other service interactions you personally made. Check the modality as well: a biometric event, an OTP event, and a demographic event may correspond to different kinds of service workflows.
If the timing still does not match anything you authorized, treat the entry as unfamiliar. Save the transaction ID and contact the AUA first, because it can connect the reference to its internal request. Escalate to UIDAI through help@uidai.gov.in or 1947 if the explanation is missing, the attempts repeat, or you suspect misuse.
Privacy and account-safety practices
- Use the address https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ rather than a search-result page that imitates UIDAI.
- Enter your Aadhaar number or VID only on the official portal or official Aadhaar app.
- Never disclose an OTP to an AUA representative, caller, message sender, or anyone claiming to be support.
- Review the browser or app screen before submitting an OTP, especially when using a shared or public device.
- Sign out or close the session after downloading or printing your history.
- Keep saved files and printed pages where other people cannot access them.
How often should you check?
UIDAI’s usage guidance recommends checking authentication history periodically. A regular review can help you notice an unfamiliar AUA, a cluster of failed attempts, or a transaction time that does not fit your activities while it is still inside the six-month viewing period. When you review, save only the records you need and protect them as sensitive personal information.
