There is no single UAE-wide Jaywan eligibility checker. Jaywan is the UAE’s domestic card scheme, but each bank, exchange house, or fintech decides which of its own account types can receive a particular Jaywan debit, prepaid, or credit card. To check, identify your exact institution and account package, read that issuer’s current Jaywan product page or app, and ask support to confirm when the listing is unclear.

Do not assume that having any UAE bank account means you qualify, or that a card offered by one issuer is available on the same terms elsewhere. The steps below show how to verify eligibility and compare the card you would actually receive.

What “Jaywan support” means

Jaywan is a UAE domestic payment scheme managed by Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE. Nationwide issuance officially commenced on 20 July 2026. The scheme provides the card infrastructure; your financial institution supplies the customer-facing product and sets its account and application conditions.

That distinction matters because “supports Jaywan” can refer to several different things:

Visa Physical Gift Card $200 (plus $6.95 Purchase Fee)
  • Gift Cards are shipped active and ready for use.
  • This card is non-reloadable. No cash or ATM access. Funds do not expire. If available funds remain on your card after the valid thru date has passed, please call customer service for a replacement card. A one-time purchase fee applies at the time of checkout. No fees after purchase.
  • To access your card information safely, type the complete website address shown on your Gift Card (MyGift.GiftCardMall.com) directly into your browser's address bar. Don't use search engines or shortened versions of the website address, as these may lead you to fake or fraudulent sites. Do not provide any Gift Card details (example: Card Number) to someone you do not know or trust. If you believe you've reached an illegitimate website, contact cardholder service at 1-888-524-1283. Be cautious of phishing sites, there are a variety of scams in which fraudsters try to trick others into paying with gift cards.
  • To report your Lost or Stolen Physical Visa Card, call Customer Service 24/7 at 1 (888) 524-1283 to cancel your Gift Card as soon as you can. You will be asked to provide the Gift Card number and other identifying information.
  • Use your Visa Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted, including online.
  • Your account is eligible for a Jaywan card from its issuer.
  • Your issuer has technically prepared to issue Jaywan cards but has not made every product available.
  • Your specific card can be used in the geography you need.

Jaywan’s announcement describes debit, prepaid, and credit cards. A mono-badge card is intended for local and GCC use, while a co-badged card combines Jaywan with an international payment network to facilitate international use. The network printed on the exact card, not the Jaywan name alone, determines where it can be accepted.

The reliable eligibility check

Use this process for any UAE bank, exchange house, or fintech. It avoids treating a scheme-level announcement as a promise about your account.

  1. Record the exact account. Write down the institution holding your money and the account’s precise name, such as personal current, personal savings, an Islamic account, or a named elite package. A product family can contain several accounts with different rules.
  2. Open the issuer’s current Jaywan page. In the official mobile app or website, search for “Jaywan,” “Jaywan card,” or “domestic card.” Read the eligibility section and application route for the exact account name, rather than relying on a generic debit-card page.
  3. Check whether the product is live. A news release may announce preparation or a phased launch. Look for an active “apply,” “request,” or card-management option, and note the page’s date or last update if shown.
  4. Ask the issuer when your account is not listed. Use this wording: “Can this exact [account name] receive a Jaywan card now? Is the card debit, prepaid, or credit, and is it mono-badge or co-badged?” Ask the representative to record any eligibility or application reference number.
  5. Compare the terms before applying. Confirm opening requirements, issuance and replacement charges, network, geographic acceptance, application channel, and what happens to your existing card. These terms are set by the issuer and are not established universally by the scheme.
  6. Verify the result in writing. Keep the product page, in-app confirmation, secure message, or support transcript. If the card is approved, check its name, network marks, and usage restrictions when it arrives.

How to read an issuer’s eligibility page

Match the complete account name

An eligibility list is meaningful only when your account matches the listed product. “Savings” may not be enough if the issuer separates personal, Islamic, elite, youth, business, or other versions. If your statement or app uses a different name, ask whether it maps to one of the listed accounts.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Separate account eligibility from card type

One account might qualify for a debit Jaywan card while another issuer’s product is prepaid or credit. Ask which balance funds transactions, whether a credit assessment is required, and whether the card is linked to your existing account. Do not infer these details from the word “Jaywan.”

Check the acceptance geography

A domestic-only card may be suitable for UAE payments but not for an overseas website or travel. A mono-badge card is described as intended for local and GCC use; co-badging with an international network is what facilitates international use. Confirm the exact countries, online acceptance, cash-withdrawal access, and any issuer restrictions before relying on it abroad.

Look for an actual application path

Useful instructions identify a route such as an app menu, branch, relationship manager, or call centre. A page that only describes Jaywan without saying how an eligible customer applies may be informational rather than proof that your account can receive a card today.

Use a simple decision tree

You can reduce the check to four decisions:

  1. Is the institution offering Jaywan now? If its official page has no current product information, ask support whether rollout is pending.
  2. Is your exact account listed? If yes, continue to the card and fee terms. If no, request an account-level confirmation rather than guessing from the broad label “current” or “savings.”
  3. Is the card suitable for your use? Confirm debit, prepaid, or credit status and whether the network is mono-badge or co-badged.
  4. Can you apply through a live channel? A working in-app request, branch process, or relationship-manager route is stronger evidence of current availability than a general announcement.

A “no” at any stage does not necessarily mean permanent ineligibility. It may indicate that the institution, account segment, or application channel has not yet been activated.

Verified issuer examples

The following examples show why account-level checking is necessary. They are issuer terms, not a universal UAE template, and can change as rollout continues.

First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB)

FAB’s Jaywan page lists these eligible accounts:

FAB account listed Eligibility information
FAB One Listed as eligible
Personal Savings Listed as eligible
Personal Current Listed as eligible
Islamic Savings Listed as eligible
Islamic Current Listed as eligible
Elite Savings Listed as eligible
Elite Current Listed as eligible
Elite Islamic Savings Listed as eligible
Elite Islamic Current Listed as eligible

FAB says applications can be made through FAB Mobile, at a branch, or through an Elite relationship manager. It describes its Jaywan debit card as domestic-use-only. A person who is not a FAB customer must open a FAB account before applying. Those conditions demonstrate the checks to make: account name, card form, geography, channel, and any prerequisite account opening.

Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB)

DIB announced on 27 July 2026 that its Jaywan debit card would be available to existing current and savings account holders. Treat that announcement as DIB’s stated launch position and confirm the current app or support terms before applying. It does not establish that every DIB account, a newly opened account, or an account at another institution qualifies.

What the July 2026 rollout does—and does not—prove

The Emirates News Agency reported on 23 July 2026 that 11 financial institutions had completed preparations to issue Jaywan cards:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB)
  • Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB)
  • Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB)
  • Emirates NBD
  • Bank of Baroda
  • Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD)
  • Emirates Islamic
  • Mbank
  • Citi
  • Al Ansari Exchange
  • Botim Money

The same report said remaining banks, exchange houses, and fintech companies would join in phases. “Prepared to issue” is a dated readiness statement, not proof that every named institution had launched cards to every customer or that all account types were eligible. Use the institution’s live product page and support channel for the decision that affects you.

Compare the card offer before you request it

When an issuer confirms eligibility, record the following items side by side. This prevents choosing a card that technically qualifies but does not meet your payment needs.

What to compare Question to ask Why it matters
Eligible account Is my exact account name included? Eligibility is product-specific.
Card form Is it debit, prepaid, or credit? Funding, approval, and balance rules differ.
Network model Is it mono-badge or co-badged? This affects acceptance outside the domestic network.
Geographic use Is it UAE-only, local and GCC, or international? Domestic acceptance does not guarantee overseas or online use.
Fees What are issuance, annual, replacement, and other charges? Scheme announcements do not set your issuer’s fee schedule.
Application channel Can I apply in the app, branch, or through a relationship manager? You need a practical route after eligibility is confirmed.
Existing card Will my current card remain active, be replaced, or receive a new number? Changing cards can affect subscriptions, wallets, and recurring payments.

If a cell is not stated on the issuer’s page, ask directly rather than assuming that another bank’s policy applies.

Costs, prerequisites, and account-opening decisions

No scheme-level source sets one UAE-wide Jaywan fee schedule. Issuers may publish their own issuance, replacement, annual, or related charges, and those amounts can differ by product. Obtain the current tariff before submitting an application and ask whether taxes or account-package conditions affect the total.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you are not already a customer, separate the cost of becoming eligible from the cost of the card itself. FAB, for example, says a non-customer must open a FAB account before applying. That may involve account-opening documentation or package conditions that are unrelated to Jaywan. Compare the account’s requirements and ongoing charges with your actual needs; do not open an account solely because a rollout announcement names the institution.

Also confirm whether the card is automatically issued, requires a separate request, or appears only after an account is upgraded. A listed account is evidence of eligibility, not necessarily evidence that a card will arrive without an application.

Common situations and the right response

Your app has no Jaywan option

That does not automatically mean you are ineligible. The issuer may be using a branch or support process, may be adding accounts in phases, or may not have activated the product for your profile. Search the official website, then ask support whether your exact account is currently supported and how to apply.

Your account is a current or savings account, but the page is vague

“Current” or “savings” is not always a complete product description. Provide the package name, customer segment, and whether the account is personal or business. Ask the representative to confirm the mapping in the issuer’s system.

You are asked to open a new account

Check whether the requirement is an issuer-wide condition or applies only to a particular Jaywan product. FAB, for example, says a non-customer must open a FAB account before applying. Compare the new account’s minimum balance, fees, and other conditions before proceeding; do not open an account solely because a general Jaywan announcement mentioned that institution.

You need to pay outside the UAE

Ask for the card’s exact network and international-acceptance terms. FAB’s listed Jaywan debit card is domestic-use-only, while the scheme announcement describes co-badging as the route that facilitates local and international use. A card that works in the UAE may still be unsuitable for an overseas merchant, foreign website, or international cash withdrawal.

You already have another debit card

Ask whether the Jaywan card is additional or a replacement, whether both remain active, and whether the account number or digital-wallet token changes. Confirm recurring-payment and wallet migration steps before activating or cancelling anything.

The issuer says “coming soon”

Request a current availability date or notification method and check again through the issuer’s official channel. A phased rollout means readiness can differ by institution, account, and date.

Practical checks after approval

When the card is delivered or appears digitally, compare it with the confirmation you received. Check the cardholder name, the Jaywan mark, any international-network mark, and the stated usage territory. Read the activation and replacement instructions in the issuer’s app. If the physical card says domestic use only, do not assume that a co-badged version will be issued later without a new application.

Keep your existing card until you know whether it is being replaced and until important subscriptions or wallet tokens have been updated. If support gave you a reference number or secure-message confirmation, retain it with the fee information. This record is useful if the card shown in the app differs from the product you requested.

Why generic Central Bank card rules are not enough

Central Bank of the UAE rulebook material on debit and credit cards addresses general issuance requirements. It does not provide a central Jaywan eligibility lookup for every UAE account. Generic credit-card conditions therefore cannot establish that your savings or current account qualifies for a Jaywan product. The issuer’s product terms remain decisive.

A short script for customer support

Have your account name and customer number available, but do not send passwords, one-time passcodes, or full card security details. Ask these questions in order:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. “Is my exact [full account name] eligible for a Jaywan card now?”
  2. “What card form is available: debit, prepaid, or credit?”
  3. “Is it mono-badge or co-badged, and where can I use it?”
  4. “What are the issuance, replacement, annual, or other applicable fees?”
  5. “How do I apply, and will my existing card remain active?”
  6. “Can you send the eligibility and fee terms through a secure message or official email?”

If the answer is “not currently,” ask whether the restriction concerns your account type, the product’s launch stage, residency or customer status, or the issuer’s overall availability. Those are different reasons with different next steps.

When to re-check

Jaywan issuance began nationwide in July 2026, but issuer availability and account coverage remain subject to change. Re-check before opening an account, travelling, replacing an existing card, or relying on the card for an overseas payment. Pay particular attention to the eligible account list, application channel, fees, network, and geographic acceptance. A July 2026 readiness report is a snapshot, not a permanent or complete directory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does every UAE bank account support Jaywan?

No. Jaywan eligibility is decided by the institution’s specific product and account conditions. Check the exact account name on the issuer’s current Jaywan page or ask support.

Is there a central UAE website where I can enter my account details?

The available scheme information does not establish a universal account checker. Use your bank, exchange house, or fintech’s official app, website, branch, or support channel.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are current and savings accounts automatically eligible?

No. DIB announced availability for existing current and savings account holders, while FAB published a named list of eligible accounts. Other institutions may use different lists.

Can a Jaywan card be used outside the UAE?

It depends on the exact network. Mono-badge cards are intended for local and GCC use, while co-badging with an international network facilitates international use. Confirm the issuer’s geographic and online-acceptance terms.

What if my issuer appears in a July 2026 rollout list but my app has no card option?

The list described institutions prepared to issue cards as of 23 July 2026; it did not confirm every account or customer had access. Ask the issuer whether your product is live and which application route applies.

Do I need to open a new account?

Not necessarily. Requirements are issuer-specific. FAB says non-customers must open a FAB account before applying, but that is not a universal Jaywan rule.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Will my existing debit card be cancelled?

Do not assume either outcome. Ask whether the Jaywan card is additional or a replacement, whether both cards remain active, and whether recurring payments or wallet tokens need updating.

What fees should I confirm?

Ask about issuance, annual, replacement, and any other applicable charges, plus account-opening or package conditions. The scheme itself does not establish one universal fee schedule.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Jaywan support is an issuer-level question, not a consequence of holding any UAE account. Match your exact account name to the issuer’s live eligibility terms, confirm the card form and network, check fees and geographic acceptance, and obtain the application instructions in writing. July 2026 rollout announcements show progress, but only your institution can confirm whether your account can receive a Jaywan card today.
