Yes—Forza Horizon 6 is announced for PlayStation 5. You do not need to check whether your console meets a published PS5 hardware specification: Playground Games has confirmed the platform, but has not provided a model-by-model requirements list. The PS5 edition is scheduled for January 26, 2027; Premium Edition early access is scheduled to begin January 21, 2027. As of October 9, 2026, the game is not yet playable on PS5.
That distinction matters: platform support answers whether a PS5 version is planned, while the release date answers when you can play it. The announcement lists PS5 display modes, but it is not an independent hardware test or a complete technical requirements sheet.
How to check PS5 compatibility
For a console game, the first compatibility check is whether the game has a version for that platform. Playground Games has confirmed a PS5 edition of Forza Horizon 6 and announced its release date. That answers the basic question: PS5 is a supported platform. It does not mean the game is already available to play, and it does not tell you every technical detail about how the game performs on every PS5 model.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Check the platform listing. Look for a Forza Horizon 6 edition specifically identified for PlayStation 5. The official announcement confirms the PS5 version; an Xbox or PC edition is not evidence that the PS5 version is available to play. If you are looking at a retailer page, make sure the product is identified as a PS5 edition rather than relying only on the game title or cover artwork.
- Check the release timing. Standard and Deluxe Editions are scheduled for PS5 on January 26, 2027. Premium Edition early access is scheduled to start January 21, 2027. Those are separate dates, so use the date that applies to the edition you intend to play.
- Match the date to the edition you intend to play. If you are not using Premium early access, the announced date is January 26. A date advertised for early access should not be mistaken for the general PS5 release date.
- Check the announcement close to launch. Playground Games’ October 8, 2026 announcement supplies the current specific PS5 schedule. Release dates can change, so confirm the official Forza announcement or the PS5 store listing near the date you plan to play. An older schedule should not override a newer official announcement.
- Do not treat another platform’s release as a PS5 release. The Xbox Series X|S and PC versions arrived earlier, on May 19, 2026. That does not make the PS5 edition playable before its separately announced PS5 date.
These checks establish platform support and announced availability. They are not a hardware test, and the announcement is not a full system-requirements document. It does not identify a need for a PS5 Pro or an upgrade to another PS5 model. No separate console upgrade is identified as necessary to access the announced PS5 edition.

When Forza Horizon 6 comes out on PS5
Playground Games announced the PS5 release schedule on October 8, 2026. Standard and Deluxe Editions are due January 26, 2027, while Premium Edition early access is due to begin January 21, 2027. As of October 9, 2026, both dates are in the future, so a PS5 owner cannot yet play the announced PS5 edition. These are announced dates, not confirmation that the PS5 version is currently available. Check the official Forza announcement near release in case the schedule changes.
The earlier Xbox Series X|S and PC release was May 19, 2026, with Premium Edition early access starting May 15. That earlier launch does not make the game playable on PS5: each platform has its own release timing. An older January FAQ described the PS5 version as arriving later in 2026; the October announcement provides the newer, specific PS5 dates. When comparing dates, give priority to the October 8 announcement for the PS5 schedule rather than repeating the earlier, less-specific description.
In practical terms, the difference between the two PS5 dates is edition timing. If you plan to buy Standard or Deluxe, the scheduled date is January 26. If you are considering Premium specifically for early access, the scheduled start is January 21. The announcement does not make January 21 the general release date for every edition.
Do you need a PS5 Pro?
No PS5 Pro requirement has been announced. Playground Games says the PS5 trailer was captured on a base PS5, and it lists two display modes for the PS5 version. That is evidence the announced PS5 version is being presented for a standard PS5; it is not an independent performance test or a complete compatibility statement for every hardware revision. The announcement does not say that a PS5 Pro is required, nor does it identify a feature reserved for a PS5 Pro.
| PS5 display mode | Announced output |
|---|---|
| Quality | 4K at 30 FPS |
| Performance | 60 FPS |
These are modes announced by Playground Games, not independently measured results. The announcement does not give a resolution for Performance mode, nor does it identify a PS5 Pro-only mode or feature. Do not treat the mode descriptions as a guarantee of measured frame rates in every gameplay situation. The figures describe announced options, not a promise that every moment of play will hold an independently verified frame rate.
The choice is presented as a display-mode comparison, not as a compatibility test. Quality mode is the announced 4K/30 FPS option; Performance mode is the announced 60 FPS option. The available announcement does not provide enough detail to compare visual effects, resolution in Performance mode, or other technical trade-offs. If you are deciding between the two, wait for the in-game options and further official detail rather than assuming specifications that have not been announced.
Nothing in the announcement says you need to buy a new PS5, a PS5 Pro, a racing wheel, or another accessory to play. That does not mean no optional accessories can be used; it means none is identified as a requirement for platform compatibility. A PS5 owner can answer the question “Can this console run the PS5 version?” without treating a hardware purchase as part of the check.
What PS5 players should know about editions and discs
Playground Games says a PS5 disc edition will be available at supporting retailers. That confirms a physical edition is planned, but it does not establish stock, price, or a listing at any particular store. Check the retailer’s product page for current availability and make sure the listed platform is PS5 before buying. The announcement does not confirm a particular retailer, Amazon listing, current price, or special retailer offer.
If you prefer a physical copy, look specifically for the “Forza Horizon 6 PS5” disc edition and verify the platform before placing an order. A listing for the Xbox, PC, or another platform is not the PS5 copy. Conversely, the existence of a PS5 disc plan does not establish that a nearby shop will carry it or that it will be in stock on release day. The official statement is about availability through supporting retailers, not guaranteed availability at every seller.
No PS5 price is established by the announcement described here, so do not infer one from a different platform, edition, retailer, or date. Check the store where you intend to buy for the current price and edition details. If cost matters to your decision, compare only like-for-like PS5 editions and account for whether you want Standard, Deluxe, or Premium early access; the release information alone does not tell you what any of them will cost.
The announcement sets different timing for Premium Edition early access and the Standard and Deluxe release. If your priority is simply to play on the announced general release date, January 26 is the relevant date for Standard and Deluxe. If you are considering Premium for earlier access, its scheduled start is January 21. Do not assume early access is included with another edition unless the PS5 edition’s own purchase terms say so.

Cross-play and cross-save do not mean one purchase works everywhere
The announced PS5 edition supports cross-platform play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions. Playground Games also says community-created content is cross-platform. In practical terms, these features concern playing with people on other platforms, carrying save progress between supported versions, and sharing community content across platforms.
Playground Games’ October 8, 2026 announcement puts it this way: “Forza Horizon 6 on PS5® will support cross-platform play and cross-save with the XBOX and Steam versions of the game.” This is a useful compatibility detail if you have friends on Xbox or Steam or care about moving progress between supported versions. It does not change the PS5 release date: the PS5 version remains scheduled for January 2027.
They do not establish that buying the game once on Xbox or Steam gives you a PS5 license, or that a PS5 purchase also licenses the Xbox or PC version. The announcement confirms cross-play and cross-save, not a universal purchase entitlement. Check the platform store’s purchase terms if you already own another edition and want to know whether you must buy the PS5 version separately. Do not assume that a shared save or cross-platform session means the game itself is included on every system.

The announcement also does not spell out every condition for cross-save, such as account linking, setup steps, or how progress is handled in every case. It confirms the feature between PS5, Xbox, and Steam versions, but not all implementation details. For those specifics, consult official instructions when they are published for the PS5 edition rather than assuming that a save will move automatically without any setup.
PS5 versus Xbox and PC: what the dates actually mean
The useful platform comparison is availability, not a broad console-versus-console buying contest. Xbox Series X|S and PC versions launched May 19, 2026, with Premium early access beginning May 15. The PS5 version is scheduled for January 26, 2027 for Standard and Deluxe, with Premium early access scheduled for January 21. The gap between those launches is the announced platform schedule; it is not evidence that an Xbox or PC release can be installed on a PS5.
If you see gameplay or community discussion from Xbox or PC players before January 2027, that is consistent with those versions having launched earlier. It does not mean your PS5 is incompatible, and it does not mean the PS5 edition has quietly become available. Check whether a listing or announcement names PS5 and whether its date has arrived. Those two checks answer the central question more reliably than a post about another platform.
Likewise, the difference between Premium early-access dates is platform-specific. Xbox and PC Premium early access began May 15; the PS5 Premium early-access date is scheduled for January 21, 2027. Do not transfer the older date to the PS5 version.
Compatibility checklist
- Platform: PS5 is a confirmed platform for Forza Horizon 6.
- Release: Standard and Deluxe Editions are scheduled for January 26, 2027; Premium early access is scheduled for January 21, 2027.
- Current availability: As of October 9, 2026, the PS5 edition is upcoming, not playable on PS5 yet.
- Hardware: The announcement does not specify a PS5 Pro requirement or publish full PS5 system requirements.
- Modes: The announced options are 4K/30 FPS Quality and 60 FPS Performance; these are publisher specifications, not independent test results.
- Disc: A PS5 disc edition is planned for supporting retailers, with no particular store’s stock or price established by the announcement.
- Other platforms: Earlier Xbox Series X|S and PC availability does not change the PS5 release schedule.
- Cross-platform features: Cross-platform play, cross-save with Xbox and Steam, and cross-platform community-created content are announced.
- Purchase: Cross-play and cross-save do not confirm that one purchase licenses the game on PS5, Xbox, and PC.
In short, checking whether your PS5 can run Forza Horizon 6 is not a matter of comparing its specifications against a published minimum. The relevant checks are that the edition is the PS5 version and that its release date has arrived. The publisher has confirmed the platform and announced display modes, but has not published a full PS5 requirements list or independent testing.
