Short answer: you cannot yet confirm whether a PC will run the next Destiny game. Bungie has not named a specific next Destiny title or published its Windows requirements in the official material available as of October 13, 2026. The reliable approach is to record your hardware now, then compare the exact CPU, graphics card, memory, operating-system, storage and platform requirements when Bungie posts them. Do not use Destiny 2’s current requirements as a prediction.
Why a yes-or-no answer is not possible yet
Bungie’s May 21, 2026 announcement, Destiny 2: Every End is a New Beginning, says the June 9, 2026 release would be Destiny 2’s final planned live-service content update and that the studio would begin incubating its next games. It does not name the next Destiny game, announce a release date, or provide PC specifications. Bungie’s later Update 9.7.0 support guide says no further Destiny 2 content updates are planned, apart from possible future health and stability hotfixes.
The distinction matters because system requirements are set by a particular game’s engine, worlds, rendering features, anti-cheat, operating-system support and release build. A future title could require substantially different hardware from Destiny 2. A PC that runs Destiny 2 comfortably might fail a future minimum requirement, while a newer PC may be more than adequate. Until Bungie publishes a table for a named game, the correct result for a compatibility check is not yet verifiable, not “yes,” “no” or an estimate.
“To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio.” — Destiny 2 Dev Team, Bungie, May 21, 2026

What to record from your PC now
Make a hardware record before requirements are announced. Exact model names are more useful than labels such as “gaming PC” or “an RTX computer.” Save the results in a note so you can compare them line by line with Bungie’s eventual minimum and recommended tiers.
Windows settings and Task Manager
- Open Settings → System → About. Record the processor model, installed RAM, Windows edition and Windows version.
- Open Task Manager with
Ctrl+Shift+Esc, select Performance, and record every listed GPU model. Note dedicated video memory when Windows displays it. - If more than one graphics adapter appears, identify which is integrated and which is dedicated. On a laptop, this distinction is essential: the game may run on the slower integrated adapter unless Windows or the manufacturer’s control software selects the discrete GPU.
- In Settings → System → Storage, record free space on the drive where you would install the game. Record the drive type if known, but do not treat an SSD as proof that the other requirements are met.
Your compatibility worksheet
| Item | Record exactly | Why it will matter |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Full model and clock information shown by Windows | Requirements may name a specific generation or model, not just a brand |
| GPU | Full graphics-card model and dedicated video memory | GPU families contain models with very different performance and memory |
| Memory | Installed system RAM in gigabytes | Minimum and recommended tiers often differ |
| Operating system | Windows edition, version and 64-bit status | Older Windows versions may be excluded even when hardware is fast enough |
| Storage | Free space and intended installation drive | Installers can require more temporary space than the final game size |
| Platform | Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store or another stated storefront | Storefronts can have different OS, install and preload conditions |
| Laptop graphics mode | Integrated or dedicated adapter used by the game | Power and cooling limits can change practical performance |
How to compare your PC when the official table arrives
Use the game’s own requirements page or the official storefront listing, and check its publication or update date. Copy the exact game title and version first; a requirement for a similarly named test, expansion or older game is not interchangeable.
- Confirm the title and date. Make sure the page refers to the announced next Destiny game, not Destiny 2 or a technical test.
- Separate minimum from recommended. Compare your components with the minimum row first. Meeting minimum normally means only that the game is within the stated compatibility boundary; it does not promise a frame rate, resolution, graphics preset or smoothness.
- Match exact models. Compare the full CPU and GPU model, including generation and memory, rather than assuming every product in a family is equivalent.
- Check the operating system. Confirm the required Windows edition, 64-bit status and any stated version. An otherwise adequate PC can fail this condition.
- Check memory and storage separately. System RAM is not graphics memory, and an update download is not the same as installed size. Leave the install or preload headroom that the publisher specifies.
- Check platform restrictions. Requirements may differ by Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, console streaming or another distribution method.
- Use recommended specifications for your target. If you want the experience described by the recommended tier, compare against that tier instead of stopping at minimum.
If any required field is missing, mark the result unknown rather than assuming compatibility. A single “pass” on the GPU does not override a failed CPU, RAM, operating-system or storage requirement.
Current Destiny 2 requirements are context, not a forecast
Bungie’s published PC table is explicitly for Destiny 2. It is useful for checking Destiny 2, but it cannot establish what a future Destiny title will require.

| Component | Destiny 2 minimum | Destiny 2 recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Intel CPU | Intel Core i3-3250 3.5 GHz or Intel Pentium G4560 3.5 GHz | Intel Core i5-2400 3.4 GHz or Intel Core i5-7400 3.5 GHz |

| System RAM | 6 GB | 8 GB |
| Operating system and connection | Windows 10 64-bit; broadband internet required | Windows 10 64-bit; broadband internet required |
Bungie says support for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 ended on June 4, 2024. The Epic Games Store version supports Windows 10 64-bit only. These statements describe Destiny 2’s current support position, not a commitment for a future game.
Storage: installed size, preload space and update downloads are different
For Destiny 2 after Update 9.7.0 on June 9, 2026, Bungie lists separate installed and preload figures. They are examples of why you should wait for the future game’s own storage table.
| Destiny 2 PC storefront | Installed size | Space listed for preload installation |
|---|---|---|
| Steam | 180.90 GB | 353.00 GB |
| Epic Games Store | 180.65 GB | 352.56 GB |
| Microsoft Store | 181.76 GB | 181.76 GB |
Bungie describes these figures as estimates and says language selections can change the install size. Some platforms need extra space while files are being installed. The Update 9.7.0 download itself was listed as 28.40 GB on Steam, 27.18 GB on Epic Games Store and 35.80 GB on Microsoft Store. Those are package-download figures, not the full installed game or a prediction for the next title.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow to apply the storage check
- Compare free space with both the final installation number and any stated preload or temporary-space requirement.
- Use the storefront named in the requirements; do not substitute a Steam figure for an Epic or Microsoft Store installation.
- Keep additional space for language packs, patches and the operating system. If the publisher calls a number an estimate, treat it as a planning figure rather than a permanent guarantee.
Laptop and integrated-graphics checks
Bungie does not officially support laptop configurations for Destiny 2, although it says laptops that meet or exceed the minimum specifications may be able to play. That warning should not be silently carried over to the next game; read the future title’s own laptop policy.

Integrated graphics can cause performance problems when they do not meet the minimum GPU requirement. Bungie’s known-issues guidance, last updated July 7, 2026, specifically reports crashes in demanding environments on laptops using 12th-generation Intel Iris integrated graphics. Where a discrete GPU is available, Bungie suggests setting Windows Graphics Settings to use it for Destiny 2.
Set a discrete GPU for a game in Windows
- Open Settings → System → Display → Graphics.
- Add the game’s executable if it is not listed.
- Select the game, choose Options, select High performance (the discrete adapter), and save.
- Restart the game and verify in Task Manager’s Performance view that the intended GPU is active.
This is a troubleshooting step for a supported game, not evidence that a future title will run on a particular laptop. Laptop power limits, cooling, firmware and the manufacturer’s graphics switching can all affect the result.
Steam Deck, SteamOS and Proton
Bungie’s current Steam guide says Destiny 2 is unsupported on Steam Deck SteamOS and systems using Steam Play’s Proton. It requires Windows to be installed and running, and warns that attempts to bypass the incompatibility may result in a ban. Keep the statement limited to Destiny 2: Bungie has not published an equivalent policy for an unnamed future game.

What minimum and recommended specifications do—and do not—tell you
Minimum tier
Minimum specifications are the publisher’s entry compatibility threshold for the stated configuration. They do not define a guaranteed 60 frames per second, a resolution, a graphics preset, loading time or stability in every environment. If your PC falls below one component, do not infer that overclocking or lowering one setting will make it officially supported.
Recommended tier
Recommended specifications are the safer target for the experience Bungie describes. They still are not a universal performance guarantee unless Bungie attaches a specific resolution and frame-rate target. Cooling, drivers, background programs and in-game settings can change results.
When a model is not listed
Do not decide from a broad family name alone. If Bungie supplies an equivalent-performance note, follow that method. If it does not, treat an unlisted CPU or GPU as unresolved and look for an official support clarification rather than converting a guess into a purchase decision.
Decision matrix for the eventual announcement
| Comparison result | Meaning | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| All minimum fields meet or exceed | Official minimum compatibility is plausible for the listed configuration | Check the publisher’s performance caveats and your target resolution before buying |
| Recommended fields meet or exceed | You are closer to the publisher’s recommended target | Confirm storage headroom, drivers and platform policy |
| One or more fields below minimum | The PC does not meet the published minimum configuration | Do not assume a component upgrade will solve every shortfall; check the complete table |
| Exact model or platform is not covered | Compatibility is not established | Wait for an official clarification or test method |
| No future-game table exists | No reliable yes-or-no result is possible | Keep your worksheet current and recheck Bungie’s official channels |
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Calling Destiny 2’s table “next Destiny” requirements. Label every current figure as Destiny 2 and date it.
- Using a GPU brand instead of a model. Record the complete model and memory amount.
- Confusing RAM with VRAM. They are separate requirements.
- Checking only download size. Compare installed size and preload or temporary space separately.
- Assuming a laptop equals a desktop. Check the active adapter, power mode and the future game’s support statement.
- Assuming Steam means SteamOS support. Verify Windows, Proton and anti-cheat policy for the specific game.
- Buying an upgrade before the table exists. No current evidence identifies a component that will be required by the unnamed title.
- Treating minimum as a frame-rate promise. Requirements alone do not specify your preferred FPS, resolution or preset unless Bungie says they do.
A repeatable checklist for announcement day
- Open Bungie’s official page for the named next Destiny game and note its date and version.
- Copy your worksheet’s CPU, GPU, VRAM, RAM, Windows version, free space and storefront into a side-by-side comparison.
- Check minimum requirements for every component, not only the graphics card.
- Check recommended requirements against the resolution and frame-rate goal you actually want.
- Confirm preload space, language-pack notes and any required driver or operating-system version.
- Read laptop, integrated-graphics, handheld, SteamOS/Proton and anti-cheat statements separately from the hardware table.
- If Bungie has not published the information, record the conclusion as not yet verifiable and do not purchase hardware on speculation.
What can be concluded today
As of the official material reviewed through October 13, 2026, there is no named next Destiny game with published PC requirements. The only defensible preparation is to inventory your PC and wait for Bungie’s title-specific minimum, recommended, operating-system, storage and platform guidance. Destiny 2’s requirements, storage numbers and SteamOS policy remain useful only for Destiny 2; none is a technical forecast for the next release.
