You can’t confirm whether your PC will run Squadron 42 yet: RSI says the game is still in development and isn’t available to install, and it has not published a dedicated PC specification for the campaign. You can inventory your hardware and compare it with RSI’s current Star Citizen requirements as a rough reference—but that is not a Squadron 42 compatibility test or performance guarantee.
Why there is no definitive PC check yet
RSI’s current system-requirements page lists specifications for Star Citizen, not Squadron 42. RSI’s April 16, 2026 checklist says the single-player campaign is still in development and not available. Its February 4, 2026 download article likewise says it is not available for download and that download will follow completion, testing, and release. Until RSI publishes campaign-specific requirements, there is no official compatibility scanner or pass/fail test for your PC.
That distinction matters: sharing a universe or development history does not establish that the two games have identical requirements. Do not treat older estimates or Star Citizen requirements as confirmed Squadron 42 specifications.

Record your PC’s hardware before comparing
Write down the exact model and capacity for each component. A broad label such as “Core i7” or “GeForce” is not specific enough to compare meaningfully.

- CPU: exact processor model, including generation or model number.
- Graphics card: exact GPU model and its dedicated VRAM.
- System memory: installed RAM capacity and, if known, memory type.
- Operating system: Windows version and whether it is 64-bit.
- Storage: whether the drive is an SSD and how much free space it has.
In Windows, you can find basic information through Settings > System > About for the processor, installed RAM, and Windows version. For graphics details, open Task Manager > Performance > GPU or Device Manager > Display adapters; use the exact model name to look up the card’s VRAM if Windows does not show it. In Settings > System > Storage, check free capacity and which drive is an SSD.
Use Star Citizen’s published requirements only as a rough reference
The following table reproduces RSI’s Star Citizen Minimum System Requirements page, updated September 23, 2026. Every figure is for Star Citizen; none is a confirmed Squadron 42 requirement.

RSI gives Nvidia 1060, AMD RX 5700, RX Vega 56, RX 460, Intel A380, and UHD Graphics 730 as examples of minimum-spec graphics cards for Star Citizen. These are examples, not a complete compatibility list, and they say nothing definitive about Squadron 42.

Check every component, not just the GPU
Compare your OS, CPU model and supported instruction features, graphics API and VRAM, system memory, and SSD capacity with the Star Citizen columns. RSI specifically lists AVX, AVX2, and FMA3 support for its Star Citizen minimum CPU. A CPU model-name comparison alone may miss those feature requirements.

Do not turn a match into a promise
A PC that meets or exceeds the Star Citizen minimum has only matched a rough reference point; it has not been shown to run Squadron 42. RSI warns that Star Citizen requirements may change during development. RSI also says Star Citizen performance, frame rates, and stability can vary with location, server population, background applications, and network conditions. Those caveats concern Star Citizen; they are not measured results for the single-player campaign.
Do not upgrade based on one number
A low VRAM figure, limited RAM, or full drive may identify a mismatch with the Star Citizen reference, but it does not establish what upgrade—if any—will be needed for Squadron 42. Wait for RSI’s campaign-specific specifications before buying hardware solely for this game.
Check again when RSI publishes campaign requirements
RSI says its requirements can change during development. Check the official RSI Star Citizen requirements page again before making a hardware decision, and look for a separate Squadron 42 specification when RSI releases one. RSI’s development hub links to Public Telemetry, which reports performance on community machines; RSI does not present it as a Squadron 42 compatibility scanner or prediction tool.
