There is no reliable yes-or-no answer yet. As of the official Rockstar material checked on October 13, 2026, Rockstar has not published Windows PC system requirements for Red Dead Redemption 3. That means you cannot responsibly compare your computer with a minimum CPU, GPU, RAM amount, storage figure, release build, or frame-rate target for this specific game.

You can still prepare a useful compatibility check. Record your exact Windows edition and version, processor, graphics card and video memory, installed RAM, and free storage. When Rockstar lists requirements for Red Dead Redemption 3, compare those details with the publisher’s minimum specifications first, then its recommended specifications if both tiers are provided. Do not treat requirements for Red Dead Redemption 2 or the original Red Dead Redemption as an answer for the third game.

The safest answer to “Can my PC run Red Dead Redemption 3?” is therefore “not determinable from official specifications yet.” This is a current status, not a prediction that requirements will never be announced.

What Rockstar has and has not published

The official Rockstar sources available for this check contain PC requirements for two other games, not for Red Dead Redemption 3. Rockstar’s 2019 PC announcement and its later Support listing for Red Dead Redemption 2 describe that game’s Windows hardware. A separate Rockstar Support listing, dated October 16, 2024, covers the original Red Dead Redemption PC release. Neither list is labeled for the third game.

Rockstar’s RDR2 Support requirements page is dated April 30, 2024, while the detailed RDR2 PC announcement was made in 2019. Those dates matter because a later support page can use different wording or platform assumptions from an earlier announcement. They still describe RDR2, not RDR3.

This is a time-sensitive finding, not proof that requirements can never be announced. Rockstar may publish platform information, requirements, graphics options, or performance targets later. Until it does, a website, video, benchmark utility, or forum post claiming to know the exact RDR3 minimum GPU or CPU is making an unsupported prediction.

Why that prevents a pass/fail result

A compatibility verdict requires a title-specific specification to compare against. Without one, there is no official baseline for processor instruction support, graphics features, video-memory capacity, operating-system version, system memory, storage space, or expected performance. Meeting a guessed specification could still produce poor performance, while falling below a guessed specification could incorrectly rule out a playable configuration.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is also no confirmed official Windows release detail in the material checked here that would establish a launcher, release build, anti-cheat component, graphics API, or PC-only feature set. Do not fill those gaps with assumptions based on a console announcement or on another Rockstar game.

Record your current PC specifications

Make a note of the values below in one place. Exact model names matter: “Core i7,” “GeForce RTX,” or “16 GB RAM” alone is not enough to compare a future requirement accurately. Save the date beside every value so you know how current the inventory is.

Windows edition and version

  1. Open Settings from the Start menu.
  2. Choose System, then About.
  3. Record the Windows edition, version, system type, and any OS build information shown there.

For a second check, press Win + R, enter winver, and press Enter. This opens the Windows version dialog. Menu labels can vary slightly by Windows release, so record what the dialog actually reports rather than assuming your PC is on the newest version. If a future requirement specifies 64-bit Windows, record the system type separately instead of writing only “Windows 10” or “Windows 11.”

Processor model

  1. In Settings > System > About, find Processor and copy the complete model name.
  2. Alternatively, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, select Performance, and choose CPU. Record the model shown at the top of the pane.

Include the generation or model number, not just the brand family. A future requirement may name a particular Intel Core, AMD Ryzen, or older processor model, and family labels do not establish equivalent performance. If the PC has more than one processor listing or a virtualized environment, record the actual hardware model that the game will use.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Graphics card and video memory

  1. Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
  2. Choose Performance, then select each GPU entry if more than one is listed.
  3. Record the exact GPU model and the dedicated GPU memory shown for it. Also note whether the PC has integrated graphics and a separate graphics card.

You can cross-check the display adapter through Win + R, entering dxdiag, and selecting the Display or Render tab. If Windows shows multiple adapters, do not accidentally record the integrated adapter while overlooking the discrete GPU that games normally use. Keep dedicated video memory separate from shared system memory; a number shown as shared or total available graphics memory is not automatically the same as dedicated VRAM.

Installed memory (RAM)

  1. Open Settings > System > About.
  2. Record the Installed RAM value.
  3. Confirm it in Task Manager under Performance > Memory, where Windows also shows current use and available memory.

Write the installed total, such as 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB. Available memory changes as programs run; it is not a substitute for the installed amount that a game requirement normally specifies. Do not combine the RAM figure with the GPU’s dedicated memory when comparing against a requirement.

Available storage

  1. Open File Explorer and select This PC.
  2. Record the free space on the drive where you would install the game.
  3. Note whether that drive is an SSD or HDD if you know it, because a future publisher may state a storage type as well as a capacity.

Keep the free-space figure separate from the drive’s total capacity. A requirement such as “150 GB” concerns space available for installation, and operating-system updates, shader caches, save data, and temporary installation files may require additional headroom. If your PC has several drives, identify the exact drive intended for the game rather than using the largest free-space number from another volume.

Create a compact inventory

A useful inventory looks like this:

  • Windows edition, version, architecture, and system type
  • Complete CPU model
  • Complete GPU model for every adapter, plus dedicated video memory
  • Total installed RAM
  • Free space and drive type on the intended installation drive
  • Date on which each value was recorded

Save a screenshot or text copy with the date. Hardware and Windows configurations can change before official requirements arrive. If you replace a graphics card, add memory, move Windows to another drive, or update the operating system, make a fresh inventory rather than editing the old one from memory.

How to compare your PC when RDR3 requirements appear

Use the publisher’s page for the exact title and platform. Confirm that the heading says Red Dead Redemption 3 and Windows PC, rather than a similarly named game, a console listing, or a page for downloadable content.

  1. Match the operating system. Compare your Windows edition, version, and architecture with the stated requirement.
  2. Match the processor. Compare the full CPU model, not a broad brand or series name.
  3. Match memory. Compare installed system RAM with the listed minimum and recommended amounts.
  4. Match the graphics adapter. Compare the exact GPU family or model and its required video-memory capacity.
  5. Match storage. Confirm both the required capacity and any stated drive type or file-system condition.
  6. Read the performance qualification. If Rockstar states a resolution, quality preset, or frame-rate target, treat it as part of the requirement. If it does not, do not infer one.
  7. Check any additional category. If Rockstar lists a sound device, graphics API, feature level, or other condition, copy it into the worksheet and compare it separately.

Check the minimum tier first. Passing every minimum category means only that your hardware meets the publisher’s baseline; it does not promise a particular resolution, image-quality setting, loading time, or frame rate. A recommended tier, when supplied, is a separate comparison for a more comfortable target and is not a guarantee either.

Compare like-for-like wording. Do not treat an “or” processor or GPU option as a requirement to own both alternatives, and do not silently substitute a newer-sounding part without a publisher statement or reliable testing. If the official page provides only one tier, leave the recommended column blank rather than inventing a second target.

What the Red Dead Redemption 2 lists demonstrate

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a useful example of the categories Rockstar may publish, but its numbers are not a forecast for the third game. Rockstar’s 2019 PC announcement listed the following Windows requirements:

Category RDR2 minimum RDR2 recommended
Operating system Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Windows 10 April 2018 Update, version 1803
Processor Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-6300 Intel Core i7-4770K or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
Memory 8 GB 12 GB
Graphics Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 with 2 GB or AMD Radeon R9 280 with 3 GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 480 with 4 GB
Storage 150 GB 150 GB
Sound DirectX-compatible sound card DirectX-compatible sound card

In that announcement, the RDR2 minimum was 8 GB of memory and 150 GB of storage; the recommended tier was 12 GB of memory and the same 150 GB of storage. Those figures are useful only as an example of how Rockstar formats a game-specific list. They are not RDR3 requirements, a trend line, or a recommended upgrade target.

Rockstar’s later RDR2 Support listing identifies Windows 10, Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-6300, 8 GB memory, Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 or AMD Radeon R9 280, and 150 GB of HDD space among the minimum requirements. The wording differs from the original announcement because it is a later support listing. Check the current official page rather than silently combining version-era descriptions.

Rockstar described RDR2 in its official PC announcement with the sentence, “Red Dead Redemption 2 has been specifically developed to perform on a wide range of machines.” That statement applies to RDR2 and says nothing about the hardware requirements or performance of RDR3.

Why the original Red Dead Redemption list is also not a shortcut

The original Red Dead Redemption is a separate release with its own PC baseline. Rockstar Support’s indexed minimum list includes an Intel Core i5-4670, 8 GB memory, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960, Windows 10 64-bit, and 12 GB of storage. Its recommended list includes an Intel Core i5-8500, an NVIDIA RTX 2070, and 12 GB of SSD storage.

Those values cannot be averaged with RDR2’s figures or treated as a progression toward RDR3. Different engines, ports, visual features, patches, and target platforms can change requirements. A newer title may need more resources, but the amount cannot be calculated from these two lists. Even the storage medium differs in the original RDR listing’s recommended tier, which shows why each title’s wording must be read on its own terms.

Common mistakes that produce a false answer

Using a search result for the wrong game

Search pages often place similarly titled games together. Read the title, platform, and publisher on every requirements page. A list that says RDR2 or the original RDR answers a different compatibility question.

Trusting speculative requirement pages

Unreleased-game requirement tables, “Can I Run It” scans, social-media graphics, and prediction videos may look precise because they show CPU and GPU model numbers. Precision is not evidence. Until Rockstar publishes an RDR3 PC listing, treat such figures as unverified.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Assuming a console announcement includes PC support

A platform announcement does not automatically establish a Windows version, release timing, launcher, anti-cheat component, or PC graphics options. Verify the PC platform on Rockstar’s own listing before doing a hardware comparison.

Confusing system RAM with video memory

“16 GB memory” and “8 GB VRAM” describe different resources. Record both values separately. A graphics card can have enough system support while lacking the dedicated video memory required by a future game, or the reverse.

Treating minimum as a performance promise

Minimum requirements are a compatibility floor, not a guaranteed 60-frame-per-second target. Unless Rockstar publishes conditions for a target, do not attach a resolution, preset, or frame-rate expectation to a minimum match.

Reading “available storage” as total drive size

A 150 GB requirement, for example, concerns usable space for installation, not the label printed on the drive. Installation files, updates, and temporary data can need additional room. Compare the free space on the intended drive and retain a margin rather than assuming the listed number is a comfortable total.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Buying an upgrade too early

A component recommendation depends on the official requirement and the part already in your PC. Buying a generic GPU, CPU, memory kit, or storage device solely because an article predicts RDR3 requirements can leave the actual bottleneck unchanged. No particular component is supported by the current official information.

How to monitor for a real requirement announcement

  1. Start with Rockstar’s official game and support pages, not a copied specification table.
  2. Confirm that the page names Red Dead Redemption 3 and explicitly identifies Windows PC requirements.
  3. Record the publication or update date and keep a copy of the listed minimum and recommended tiers.
  4. Check whether the page supplies a Windows version, CPU, RAM, GPU and VRAM, storage capacity, storage type, sound requirement, and any performance target.
  5. Repeat the inventory of your PC if you have changed hardware or Windows since your first check.
  6. Compare every category, including storage and operating-system details, before deciding whether an upgrade is needed.

Requirements can be revised after a port or major update. If the official page changes, use the latest version and retain the date of the comparison so you know which specification was applied. A later support page should be read alongside, not silently merged with, an older announcement.

What to do if your PC is below a future requirement

First identify the specific shortfall. If only storage is below the listed capacity, freeing space or adding a suitable drive addresses a different problem from an underpowered GPU. If RAM is below the requirement, check the motherboard’s supported capacity and memory configuration before purchasing a kit. If the CPU or GPU is below the stated model, check power supply capacity, cooling, case clearance, motherboard compatibility, and available connectors before selecting a replacement.

Do not choose a part until Rockstar has published the target and you have measured your existing system. A future requirement may also specify a graphics feature or operating-system version that an otherwise fast component cannot provide. If your PC meets the official minimum, test the released game under its actual update and driver conditions rather than assuming a predicted result. If the listing provides no performance target, report the specification match without promising a particular frame rate.

Does the original Red Dead Redemption PC list tell me what RDR3 needs?

No. The original game’s Intel Core i5-4670 minimum, GTX 960 minimum, Windows 10 64-bit requirement, and 12 GB storage are title-specific. They cannot be averaged with RDR2 figures or extrapolated to the third game.

What details should I save from my computer now?

Save the Windows edition, version and system type; complete CPU model; every GPU model and dedicated video memory; installed RAM; and free space and drive type on the intended installation drive. Add the date of the inventory.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does meeting minimum mean 60 frames per second?

No. Minimum means only that the listed baseline is met. Unless Rockstar states the resolution, preset, and frame-rate conditions attached to a requirement, do not promise a particular performance result.

Should I buy a new GPU or CPU now?

No specific upgrade is justified by the current information. Wait for an official RDR3 requirement and compare it with your actual hardware, power supply, cooling, case, motherboard, and storage situation.

Could requirements change after announcement?

They can be revised on an official support page after a port or major update. Record the page’s publication or update date and use the latest official version when making your comparison.

Is a third-party scanner reliable before requirements exist?

No scanner can establish an official pass/fail result for a title without a verified title-specific baseline. Treat an unreleased-game scan or speculative requirements table as unverified until Rockstar publishes the Windows requirements.

Bottom line for “Can my PC run Red Dead Redemption 3?”

Not yet—not from an official specification. Rockstar’s published PC requirements for RDR2 and the original RDR show what categories to collect, but they do not establish an RDR3 CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, Windows version, release date, or performance target. Record your exact PC details now, then make the decision only after Rockstar publishes requirements for the specific game.
