To check whether your PC can run Mina the Hollower, compare its operating system, 64-bit status, processor, graphics adapter, memory, graphics API support and free storage with the minimum specifications on the official Steam listing. Check every category rather than relying on RAM alone. A computer that matches all published minimums meets the game’s baseline, but the listing does not promise a frame rate or a particular level of smoothness.
There is also an important Windows distinction: the game listing says Windows 8 or later, while the same Steam page says the Steam client supports Windows 10 and later from January 1, 2024. A Windows 8 computer can therefore match the game’s stated operating-system line yet still fall outside the current Steam client’s stated support.
Published minimum requirements for Mina the Hollower
The following values are the minimums shown on the Steam store page. They are platform-specific and should be treated as a checklist, not as a performance test.
Recommended Free Tools
| Requirement | Windows | macOS | Linux |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operating system and architecture | Windows 8 or later; 64-bit processor and operating system | macOS 11 or later; 64-bit operating system | 64-bit operating system; glibc 2.36 or later |
| Processor | Intel Core 4th generation (Haswell, 2013) or AMD Bulldozer (2011) | Apple M1 or later | Intel Core 4th generation (Haswell, 2013) or AMD Bulldozer (2011) |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM | 4 GB RAM | 4 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Intel HD 5000 (2013), Radeon HD 7000 (2012), or Nvidia 900 Series (Maxwell, 2014) | Separate minimum graphics model not stated | Intel HD 5000 (2013), Radeon HD 7000 (2012), or Nvidia 900 Series (Maxwell, 2014) |
| Graphics or system API | DirectX 12 | Not stated | DirectX requirement not stated; glibc 2.36 or later is listed |
| Available storage | 860 MB | 860 MB | 860 MB |
The graphics entries identify model families, not just a quantity of video memory. A card with more VRAM does not automatically satisfy the listed graphics requirement if its architecture or API support is older. Likewise, the 860 MB figure is the published minimum free space, so leave additional room for the operating system, updates and save data instead of filling a drive to its last megabyte.

How to check a Windows PC
Use Windows’ own information panels first. You do not need a separate compatibility checker, and the store listing does not certify individual computers.
1. Confirm Windows edition and 64-bit architecture
- Open Settings and choose System, then About. On older Windows versions, right-click This PC and choose Properties.
- Read Windows specifications for the edition and version. The game’s published line is Windows 8 or later.
- Read System type. It should identify a 64-bit operating system and a 64-bit-capable processor. A 32-bit installation does not match the listed requirement even if the processor itself is relatively new.
For a second view, press Win+R, enter msinfo32, and press Enter. The System Information window shows the operating-system name, version, system type and processor model in one place.
2. Identify the processor and installed RAM
- In Settings > System > About, note the complete processor name and the installed RAM.
- Alternatively, open Task Manager with
Ctrl+Shift+Esc, select Performance, and open CPU and Memory. - Compare the CPU model with the published baseline: Intel Core 4th-generation Haswell or AMD Bulldozer. The generation and family matter; a machine having four cores or a high clock speed by itself does not prove that it matches.
- Check that installed memory is at least 4 GB. If Windows reports less than 4 GB usable, investigate the 32-bit operating-system limit or hardware reserved for integrated graphics before treating the requirement as met.
Do not substitute RAM for processor or graphics information. Memory is only one row of the requirements table.
3. Find the graphics adapter
- In Task Manager, choose Performance and select each GPU entry. Windows labels integrated and discrete adapters separately when both are present.
- You can also right-click the Start button, open Device Manager, expand Display adapters, and copy the exact model name.
- Compare that name with Intel HD 5000, Radeon HD 7000 or Nvidia 900 Series. Do not count system RAM as evidence that the graphics requirement is satisfied; the listing calls for a graphics model or family.
If Device Manager shows Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, Windows is using a fallback driver and is not revealing the actual adapter. Install the driver supplied by the computer or graphics-card manufacturer, restart, and check the model again. A driver label alone still does not establish that the hardware meets the listed family.
4. Check DirectX 12 support
- Press
Win+R, typedxdiag, and press Enter. - On the System tab, read DirectX Version.
- Use the Display tab to confirm the adapter name and inspect the driver details. If multiple adapters are listed, check the one the game will actually use.
The store page lists DirectX 12 for Windows. A computer can report DirectX 12 components while an older graphics adapter lacks the required feature level, so use the adapter model and its driver information together rather than treating the version number as the only test.

5. Check free storage on the installation drive
- Open File Explorer and select the drive where Steam will install the game.
- Right-click the drive, choose Properties, and read Free space.
- Compare the available amount with the 860 MB minimum in the table. If Steam’s library is on another drive, check that drive instead of the Windows system drive.
Storage capacity is different from transfer speed. The listing specifies space, not a required SSD, hard-drive speed or installation-time benchmark.
6. Apply the Steam-client caveat
Keep two questions separate: does the hardware and operating system meet the game’s published minimum, and can the current Steam client run on that operating system? The listing says the game supports Windows 8 or later, but also states that Steam’s client supports Windows 10 and later starting January 1, 2024. If your machine runs Windows 8, record it as a client-compatibility risk even when every other game requirement matches. Updating Windows may be necessary before Steam can install or launch the title, but the store page does not provide a Windows 8 workaround.
How to check a Mac
Mac requirements differ from Windows because the listing names Apple silicon and does not provide a separate minimum graphics model.
Check the chip, macOS version and memory
- Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. On newer versions, select More Info if needed.
- Record the macOS version. The published minimum is macOS 11 or later.
- Record the chip. The listing requires Apple M1 or later; an Intel Mac does not match that stated processor requirement.
- Record installed memory and confirm at least 4 GB RAM.
Apple’s About window normally identifies an M1, M2, M3 or later chip directly. Do not infer an Apple-silicon model from the Mac’s purchase year.
Check storage and interpret the graphics information
- Open Apple menu > System Settings > General > Storage (or About This Mac > Storage on older macOS).
- Check free space on the volume used for the Steam library and compare it with the 860 MB published minimum.
- Use Apple menu > About This Mac to view the graphics information your Mac reports.
The retrieved store listing does not state a separate minimum Mac graphics specification. Therefore, you can verify macOS, Apple-silicon generation, RAM and storage directly, but you should not invent a discrete-GPU threshold or claim that a particular Mac graphics model is officially certified when the listing does not say so.

How to check a Linux PC
Linux users need to verify both distribution libraries and hardware. The listing requires glibc 2.36 or later, a 64-bit operating system, the same Intel or AMD processor baseline as Windows, 4 GB RAM, one of the listed graphics families and 860 MB free space.
Check architecture and glibc
- Open a terminal and run
getconf LONG_BIT. A result of64indicates a 64-bit userland. - Run
ldd --versionand read the glibc version on the first line. It must be 2.36 or later according to the store listing. - Use
cat /etc/os-releaseto record the distribution and release. This helps you identify whether its standard repositories provide the required library version.
Distribution names alone are not enough: two releases with the same desktop environment can ship different glibc versions. If your distribution reports an older library, do not replace glibc casually; it is a core system component. An in-place distribution upgrade or a supported newer release is safer than manually overwriting system libraries.
Check CPU, memory and graphics
- Run
lscpuand note the processor model. Compare it with Intel Core 4th-generation Haswell or AMD Bulldozer. - Run
free -hand confirm that total memory is at least 4 GB. - Run
lspci | grep -Ei 'vga|3d|display'to identify the graphics adapter. Compare the model with Intel HD 5000, Radeon HD 7000 or Nvidia 900 Series. - If the command shows an unexpected generic adapter, check that the correct vendor driver is installed and that the session is using the intended GPU.
The Linux listing does not state a DirectX requirement. Do not add one yourself; verify the requirements that are actually published, especially glibc and the graphics hardware.
Check the Steam library volume
- Run
df -hand identify the mount point containing your Steam library. - Compare its available space with the 860 MB minimum shown above.
- In Steam, open Settings > Storage to confirm which library location will receive the installation.
A full home partition can prevent installation even when another disk has free capacity, so check the filesystem that backs the selected library.
Use a pass, fail or unknown decision instead of guessing

- 【Simple USB Plug and Play】If your program or application accepts USB controller input, this classic game controller do not need install drivers or patches. 1.5 meter external cable(approx. 5 ft. Long). Notice: Please download the game emulator first before start the games, and then you must manually set the buttons and directionals within the emulator you're using, and the controller not automatically assigns buttons/directional axes. If on the Steam platform, you need to first enable Steam's "Universal Controller Configuration Support" and then restart Steam. After entering the game, you also need to manually bind key positions in the game
- 【High Sensitivity without Delay】Super sensitive buttons for precision control: 6 fire buttons, a 'Start' button and a 'Select' button, motion control cross. Play your favorite old school games with classic retro feel. Fits perfectly in the hand and also perfect for two player action.Note: Not applicable to Switch/PS games. - 【Product Service】If you have any problem during use, send message to us and we will help you to solve the problem soon
- Pass: your measured value clearly meets the published line, such as 8 GB RAM against a 4 GB minimum or glibc 2.36 against a 2.36 requirement.
- Fail: the value is below the line, such as a 32-bit operating system, less than 4 GB RAM or a processor family older than the stated baseline.
- Unknown: the model, driver or API support cannot be identified. Resolve the unknown before buying or troubleshooting; guessing from a brand name, clock speed or RAM amount is unreliable.
For Windows, add a separate client-status result. A system can pass the game rows yet fail the current Steam-client support condition because it remains on Windows 8. For macOS, mark the graphics row as “not stated” rather than treating it as an automatic pass or fail.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What meeting the minimum does and does not tell you
Meeting every published minimum means only that your configuration aligns with the developer’s baseline specification. The Steam page does not provide benchmark results, a guaranteed frame rate, a resolution target, a recommended CPU, a recommended graphics card, a higher memory target or a higher storage target that would let you predict “high” settings.
Performance can still vary with resolution, background applications, thermal throttling, driver quality, power settings and whether a laptop uses an integrated or discrete GPU. Those variables are reasons to keep expectations qualified, not reasons to invent a benchmark. If the game starts but feels uneven, close unnecessary applications, install the correct graphics driver, use the intended GPU on a dual-GPU laptop and test lower in-game settings where available. None of those steps changes the published minimum or guarantees a particular result.
When your PC misses a requirement
Operating system or architecture mismatch
A 32-bit Windows or Linux installation cannot be treated as equivalent to the required 64-bit environment. On Windows 8, distinguish the game’s stated support from Steam’s current client support before spending money on hardware. On Linux, an old glibc version is a platform-library issue; upgrading to a supported distribution release is the appropriate path, not copying a random library into the system.
Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteProcessor or memory mismatch
If the processor falls below the listed Intel or AMD generation, or installed RAM is under 4 GB, the machine does not meet the published baseline. Adding memory cannot turn an older CPU into a newer generation. Identify the exact failed row first and check whether your computer supports an upgrade; the requirements alone do not establish that an upgrade is necessary or worthwhile.

Graphics mismatch
If the adapter is older than the listed Intel, Radeon or Nvidia families, or its driver exposes no required feature support, treat the graphics requirement as unmet. More system RAM is not a substitute for a compatible graphics adapter. On laptops with two GPUs, verify that Steam is launching the game on the adapter you evaluated.
Storage mismatch
Free space is usually the simplest issue to correct: remove or move files, select another Steam library drive, or install the game on a volume with enough room. Do not delete operating-system files merely to reach the threshold, and remember that a drive with exactly the minimum leaves little room for updates.
Controller use is optional
Steam includes Controller among the game’s tags, so a gamepad may suit your preferred control style. The listing does not say that a controller is required to run the PC version, does not name a required model and does not establish a particular controller as compatible. Check the keyboard and controller options shown in the game and Steam settings after installation; buying a controller is not part of the PC system requirements.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →A practical pre-purchase checklist
- Write down your operating system and confirm it is 64-bit.
- Record the exact CPU model and compare its generation with the published Intel or AMD baseline.
- Record installed RAM and confirm at least 4 GB.
- Record the exact graphics adapter, not just its video-memory amount.
- On Windows, verify DirectX 12 in
dxdiagand separately check Steam’s Windows 10-or-later client support. - On Linux, verify glibc 2.36 or later and the 64-bit userland.
- Check free space on the actual Steam library drive and compare it with 860 MB.
- Mark any unknown value for further identification instead of assuming it passes.
If every applicable row passes and your platform’s Steam client is supported, your PC matches the published minimum configuration. That is the most definite conclusion the available specification supports; it is not a promise of a specific frame rate or visual setting.
