Check your PC against the requirements of the specific PlayStation 5 emulator—not the PS5’s console specs. KytyPS5 lists a supported operating system, a compatible 64-bit processor and a graphics card with Vulkan 1.3 support and current drivers. Meeting those baseline requirements does not mean a particular game will run, or run well: KytyPS5 describes itself as early-stage and warns of crashes, graphical glitches, low compatibility and poor performance.

Start with the emulator and game you want to use

There is no single universal PC specification for every PS5 emulator. Requirements depend on the emulator project and can change as it develops. The checks below use KytyPS5’s published requirements as an example; check the current documentation for the particular emulator build you plan to use before deciding whether your computer qualifies.

Separate two questions: whether your PC meets the emulator’s listed platform requirements, and whether the specific game works acceptably in that emulator. The first can be checked against your operating system, processor architecture and graphics API support. The second requires current, game-specific compatibility information.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That distinction is useful because “can run an emulator” can mean several different things. A computer may meet the listed operating-system, processor and graphics API requirements, yet fail to launch a particular game, display it incorrectly, crash during play or perform poorly. Conversely, an emulator’s ability to boot some games does not mean every game is supported. Think of the system checklist as an eligibility check, not a prediction of a game’s final performance.

First identify the emulator project and build you intend to use, then check its own documentation. Do not carry KytyPS5’s requirements over to another emulator, or assume that an old description remains current after a project changes. Once you have the relevant requirements, check each listed item separately. If one is unclear, the accurate result is “not verified,” rather than a guess based on the PC’s age or purchase price.

What KytyPS5 lists as its baseline requirements

Check Published requirement What it tells you
Operating system Windows 10 version 1803, a current Linux distribution, or macOS on Apple Silicon Whether the host platform is among the listed options. The project does not specify a minimum Linux version in the stated requirements.
Processor A 64-bit x86 processor; on macOS, Apple Silicon with Rosetta 2 is also described as supported Whether the processor architecture is supported. The requirements do not name a minimum CPU model or speed.
Graphics A GPU capable of Vulkan 1.3, with current drivers Whether the graphics hardware and its active driver expose the required graphics API. No specific GPU model or performance tier is named.

These are platform and API requirements, not a promise of a playable frame rate. KytyPS5 does not state a minimum host-PC RAM amount, a minimum VRAM amount, a recommended graphics card, or a guaranteed performance target in the cited requirements. If a spec is not listed, do not infer it from the PS5 console.

The operating-system wording matters. Windows 10 version 1803 is specifically named; “Windows” in general is not. For Linux, KytyPS5 says “current Linux distribution” without naming a minimum release in the requirements summarized here, so a reader should consult its current instructions for release-specific details. For Mac, the stated option is macOS on Apple Silicon, with Rosetta 2 noted for the architecture requirement; this is not a blanket claim that every Mac configuration is covered.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The processor entry is about architecture, not a speed class. A 64-bit operating system alone does not confirm that the processor itself is the required 64-bit x86 architecture. On Mac, the project separately describes Apple Silicon with Rosetta 2 support. The requirements do not give a model number, clock speed, core count or other CPU tier that would let you rank processors for emulation.

Likewise, “Vulkan 1.3-capable” is not the same as “fast graphics card.” The stated criterion is support for that graphics API with current drivers. It does not identify a specific GPU, amount of video memory, or performance level. A PC’s CPU, GPU and memory labels may sound impressive, but those details do not substitute for confirming the listed platform and API support.

Check your operating system and processor architecture

Windows

  1. Open Settings and go to System > About.
  2. Under Windows specifications, check the edition and version. KytyPS5 lists Windows 10 version 1803; a different Windows version is not established as supported by that stated requirement, so verify the current project documentation rather than assuming.
  3. Under device specifications, check System type. Confirm that the system is 64-bit and the processor is x64-based. The requirement is for 64-bit x86, not merely a 64-bit operating system.

Record the Windows version and processor type rather than relying on a broad description such as “new Windows PC.” If the system reports a 64-bit operating system but you cannot confirm the processor architecture, you have not completed the CPU check. If the machine is running a version other than the one listed, do not automatically conclude that it works or that it cannot work: check the current KytyPS5 instructions for what the project presently supports.

Linux

Check your distribution and release using your desktop’s system-information settings or the distribution’s standard release-information command. KytyPS5 describes support for a current Linux distribution but the published requirement summarized here does not set a minimum release. Confirm that your distribution is current and consult the emulator’s current instructions for any distribution-specific setup. Check processor architecture as well: the listed CPU requirement is 64-bit x86.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not turn “current” into an invented minimum version number. The project’s stated requirement does not name one here, so the sensible next step is to use the project’s up-to-date setup directions and verify that your distribution is considered current for that purpose. If you are comparing two Linux PCs, their distribution and release support should be checked alongside processor architecture and graphics-driver API support.

macOS

Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac to identify the Mac and its chip. KytyPS5 describes macOS support on Apple Silicon with Rosetta 2. Do not treat that as a blanket statement that all Macs or all macOS configurations are supported; verify the current project instructions for your system.

Make a note of whether the computer uses Apple Silicon rather than assuming that any Mac meets the stated platform condition. The Rosetta 2 detail is part of the project’s stated compatibility description; it should not be treated as a performance promise or as evidence that an unlisted Mac configuration is supported. If your computer does not clearly match the description, check the current project documentation before proceeding.

Check whether the graphics card and driver expose Vulkan 1.3

The requirement is Vulkan 1.3 capability with current drivers—not simply a graphics card that can display games. API support depends on the GPU and its installed driver. A card’s age or general performance is not enough to establish Vulkan 1.3 support.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Identify the graphics card in your operating system’s device or system information. If the computer has both integrated and discrete graphics, note both; the emulator may not use the one you expect.
  2. Check the GPU maker’s current specifications and driver information for Vulkan 1.3 support for that exact card and operating system. Make sure you are checking support with the driver version installed, not only a general capability claim about a product family.
  3. Install the current graphics driver available for your GPU and operating system, following the GPU maker’s instructions. Restart if the installer requests it.
  4. Confirm that the active graphics device and driver report Vulkan 1.3 support. If you use a Vulkan information utility, inspect its reported API version and the device it lists; a report for a different GPU does not establish that the emulator will use the required device.
  5. Check again after a driver update or when changing graphics devices. If Vulkan 1.3 is not reported, the published GPU requirement has not been verified for that configuration.

Be precise about what the check proves. A manufacturer’s statement for a GPU family may not confirm support for every card in that family, or for every operating system and driver combination. A Vulkan report from one adapter also does not settle the question if the computer has more than one graphics device. Match the device and driver information to the GPU the emulator will actually use.

If Vulkan 1.3 is missing, update the driver and check again before deciding the hardware fails the requirement. If the current driver still does not expose Vulkan 1.3 on the relevant GPU, then that PC configuration has not met the published graphics requirement. Changing a setting or updating a driver may address missing API support; it cannot guarantee that a game is compatible or performs well.

The cited KytyPS5 requirements do not name a minimum VRAM figure or a particular GPU model. A more powerful card cannot, by itself, solve an emulator compatibility problem, and buying hardware before checking your existing GPU and driver may not help. No official recommended GPU tier or benchmark is established by these requirements, so there is no source-backed model list to use as a shopping shortcut. Consider a graphics-card purchase only if your existing hardware fails the specific capability check, and verify the replacement’s Vulkan 1.3 support before buying.

Check the exact game’s compatibility with the emulator build

After checking the PC baseline, look for current community game test results identified by the emulator project. Match the result to the exact game and emulator build where possible. Compatibility may change as development continues, and a test result for one title or build does not establish how another will behave.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Look for whether the game boots, reaches gameplay, and has reported graphics or stability issues.
  • Check when the result was recorded and which emulator build it covers. Older reports may not describe current behavior.
  • Distinguish “boots” from “playable.” A game launching does not prove stable operation, correct graphics, or acceptable performance.
  • Do not infer a result from another PC’s specifications alone. The project’s cited information does not provide PC benchmarks or a universal minimum performance class.

A compatibility result is most useful when it describes the same game and the same emulator build you plan to use. If the report only says that a title starts, look for additional details about whether it gets beyond startup and reaches gameplay. A successful boot is a limited result: it does not, by itself, say whether graphics render correctly, whether the emulator remains stable, or whether performance is acceptable.

Read any reported issue in context. A crash, graphical glitch or performance problem in a test may be relevant to your expectations, but a test on another PC is not a dependable benchmark for yours unless there is comparable, specific information. The project’s cited information does not supply a universal PC performance class or named minimum hardware tier. Do not transform an individual community result into a guarantee for every system.

KytyPS5 says it can boot 2D games and a selection of 3D games, while warning that the project is early-stage. Its stated warning is: “The project is in an early stage, so please be mindful when opening new issues. Expect crashes, graphical glitches, low compatibility, and poor performance.” That makes a game-specific compatibility check essential even when your PC meets the listed baseline.

Because the project is developing, check the compatibility information close to the time you intend to use the emulator. A result from an earlier build can become outdated as the emulator changes, while a result for a newer build may not describe the version you have installed. Keep the title, build and test date in view when deciding how much weight to give an entry. If no matching result exists, the honest answer for that game is unknown—not “yes” based only on PC specifications.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use this checklist to make a yes-or-unknown decision

  • Baseline likely met: Your operating system matches a listed option, your processor matches a listed architecture, and your active graphics device and current driver expose Vulkan 1.3.
  • Baseline not verified: You cannot confirm the OS, CPU architecture or Vulkan version. Check the missing item before concluding that the PC qualifies.
  • Baseline not met: A required platform or capability is absent—for example, the active GPU and driver do not provide Vulkan 1.3.
  • Game outcome unknown: The PC meets the baseline, but there is no current compatibility result for your exact game and emulator build. Hardware checks cannot fill that gap.

In practice, make a short record before drawing a conclusion: the emulator and build, OS and version, CPU architecture, GPU in use, driver status and Vulkan version, and any game-specific compatibility result you find. That list prevents a common mistake: checking only one attractive specification, such as GPU model or system RAM, and treating it as proof that the whole setup qualifies.

When comparing two PCs, compare the supported OS and version, CPU architecture, Vulkan 1.3 support from the GPU and driver, and compatibility reports for the same game and emulator build. The available project requirements do not support a universal ranking of PCs or a minimum performance tier.

Keep the comparison on those same axes even if one computer has a newer processor or more memory. The published requirements do not provide a scoring method that weighs one system component against another, nor do they say that extra CPU speed or a more powerful graphics card offsets an unsupported operating system or missing API support. For game prospects, compare reports for the same title and build; a different game’s result is not a substitute.

Do not use PS5 console memory as a PC requirement

Sony’s PS5 instruction manual for the CFI-21XX model family lists 16 GB of GDDR6 memory. That figure describes memory in the console, not a host-PC RAM requirement for KytyPS5. The cited emulator requirements do not establish a minimum amount of computer RAM or graphics memory, so the console figure cannot be used to answer how much memory your PC needs.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Console and PC memory figures describe different systems and should not be compared as though they were interchangeable requirements. The PS5 manual’s 16 GB figure is a console specification; it is not evidence that a PC needs 16 GB of RAM, 16 GB of VRAM, or any other particular amount to use KytyPS5. The project’s listed requirements do not name a host RAM or VRAM minimum. If you encounter a claimed memory target elsewhere, check whether it is an official requirement for the emulator and build you plan to use before treating it as definitive.

The same caution applies to performance expectations. A console’s hardware specification does not establish the PC processor, graphics card or memory level needed to emulate its games. Do not use the console’s memory capacity as a shortcut for choosing a PC, and do not assume that matching one console number predicts whether a particular game will run.

If you own a PS5, Remote Play is a different option

PlayStation Remote Play lets you control your PS5 from a PC or Mac over a network, according to Sony’s documentation. It requires an actual PS5 console; it is not emulation and does not test whether a computer can run PS5 games independently.

This distinction matters if your goal is simply to play from a computer screen. Remote Play uses the console you own rather than asking a PC to emulate a PS5, so it is an alternative route, not a way to bypass or satisfy the emulator’s hardware requirements. If you do not have a PS5, Remote Play does not provide a console to connect to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my PC meet PS5 emulator requirements?

For KytyPS5, compare your OS and version, processor architecture, and active GPU and driver against its listed baseline: Windows 10 version 1803, a current Linux distribution, or macOS on Apple Silicon; a 64-bit x86 CPU, with Apple Silicon and Rosetta 2 described for macOS; and a Vulkan 1.3-capable GPU with current drivers. Meeting those checks does not guarantee a particular game will run.

How do I check whether my graphics card supports Vulkan 1.3?

Identify the exact GPU and current driver, then check the GPU maker’s current specifications and driver information for that card and operating system. Confirm that the active graphics device reports Vulkan 1.3. If your PC has integrated and discrete graphics, make sure the report is for the GPU the emulator will use.

Will a PS5 game run on my PC if it meets the emulator requirements?

Not necessarily. The baseline requirements establish platform and API support, not game compatibility or performance. Check current community results for the exact game and emulator build, and distinguish a game that merely boots from one that reaches stable, correctly rendered gameplay.

How much RAM does a PC need for KytyPS5?

The listed KytyPS5 requirements do not specify a minimum amount of host-PC RAM or GPU memory. Sony’s 16 GB GDDR6 figure for the CFI-21XX PS5 describes console memory and is not a PC emulator RAM requirement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I play PS5 games on a PC without an emulator?

If you own a PS5, Sony documents Remote Play as a way to control that console from a PC or Mac over a network. Remote Play requires the console and is not emulation; it does not mean the computer runs the game independently.

The Bottom Line

Check the requirements for the exact emulator build, then verify your OS, processor architecture and active GPU’s Vulkan 1.3 support with current drivers. For KytyPS5, those checks establish only that the PC matches its listed baseline—not that a particular game will work or perform well. Look for recent, game-specific compatibility results before deciding, and do not treat PS5 console memory as a PC requirement.
