The Russell Hobbs RHMO340 is a countertop convection microwave oven with microwave, grill, convection and combination cooking modes. Its manual also lists defrost, reheat, pre-set menus and a memory function. Those specifications explain what the controls offer, but they do not establish cooking performance: there is no independent performance testing to support claims about speed, evenness or results.
What can the RHMO340 do?
Russell Hobbs’ RHMO340 instruction manual documents four cooking modes and several convenience functions. Treat these as manufacturer-listed capabilities, not as independently verified results.
- Microwave: five displayed power levels—100%, 80%, 50%, 30% and 10%.
- Convection: ten temperature settings, from 150°C through 240°C. The manual describes circulating hot air for browning, roasting and baking.
- Grill: a separate mode for grilling.
- Combination: four settings that combine cooking methods; the manual suggests different food uses for them.
- Convenience functions: reheat, defrost, pre-set menus and memory.
The manual does not provide a basis for judging how quickly or evenly the oven cooks, or how its results compare with another model.

Will it fit your kitchen?
The RHMO340 is specified for freestanding countertop use, not cabinet installation. The manual calls for at least 30 cm of clearance above the oven and 20 cm between it and adjacent walls, with one side left open. It also says not to place the oven over a heat-producing appliance. Check your counter layout against those clearances before buying; do not assume a close-fitting shelf or enclosed microwave nook is suitable.

Confirm those details from the rating label, seller documentation or the exact unit before deciding whether it can accommodate your dishes. Which cookware and rack arrangements are allowed?
Cookware suitability depends on the selected mode. The manual lists heat-resistant glass as suitable across modes and microwave-safe plastic for microwave mode only. Follow the cookware maker’s labeling as well as the oven manual; do not assume a container suitable for microwave use is suitable for grill or convection heat.

- Use the included metal rack for grill or convection cooking.
- In combination mode, the manual permits the rack only with setting C-3.
- Do not use the metal rack with microwave operation: the manual warns that this can cause arcing.
- Keep the glass turntable and its ring assembly installed during cooking. Put food in suitable cookware on the turntable, not directly on the glass.
The manual lists the glass turntable, turntable ring assembly, turntable shaft, metal rack and instruction manual as included items. Check the contents of the particular unit, especially if buying secondhand.

The manual warns against heating sealed containers, says to pierce foods with non-porous skins, and cautions that liquids can become superheated. Follow its operating instructions and use suitable containers for the selected mode. If materials inside ignite, the manual says to keep the door closed and switch off or unplug the oven.

What should you check before buying?
- Verify the exact model. Confirm the label says RHMO340. Do not substitute specifications from similarly named models.
- Check the space. Allow the manual’s stated clearances and verify the dimensions and capacity for the exact unit; those measurements are not established here.
- Match the modes to your needs. The manual documents grill, convection and combination functions in addition to microwave cooking, but there is no independent testing establishing their performance.
- Confirm stock and price locally. The Russell Hobbs Australia microwave catalogue returned for this review does not list the RHMO340 among its displayed models. That does not prove the model is discontinued or unavailable in other countries, so check a seller in your region for exact-model stock and current pricing.
- Check warranty terms for your purchase. The booklet carries a 2019 copyright line and states a one-year warranty for goods purchased in Australia or New Zealand, subject to conditions. It names Spectrum Brands Australia Pty Ltd for Australian purchases and Spectrum Brands New Zealand Ltd for New Zealand purchases. These booklet terms do not establish what warranty applies to a new or secondhand unit today. Confirm the current terms with the seller or manufacturer for your country and purchase date.
The booklet’s warranty text says: “Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, or the CGA.” Check the applicable local warranty and consumer guarantees rather than treating a dated booklet as confirmation of present coverage.

It is worth considering if you want the specific combination of microwave, grill and convection controls documented in its manual, and your kitchen can meet the stated countertop clearances. The key unknowns for a purchase decision are exact-model availability, dimensions and capacity, tested cooking performance, and the terms that apply to the particular unit. Confirm those points rather than inferring them from the model name or specifications of a related oven.
