2. Check memory and graphics
- Open Task Manager > Performance. If Task Manager opens in its compact view, select More details first.
- Select Memory and note the installed RAM. Compare it with the 4 GB minimum. The recommended listing says 4+ GB.
- Select GPU and note the graphics adapter. The store listing requires DirectX 11 compatibility but gives no required GPU model, so the adapter’s name by itself may not prove whether it qualifies.
For memory, the useful first question is whether the installed amount reaches the published 4 GB minimum. The recommended entry is written as “4+ GB,” not as a more specific larger target. Do not read more into the word “recommended” than the listing says: it does not give a separate memory figure above 4 GB.
For graphics, compare the capability stated in the listing—DirectX 11 compatibility—not merely whether your PC has something called a GPU. Task Manager can show the adapter name, but Amanita Design’s listing does not name a required card model against which to check it. If you cannot verify DirectX 11 compatibility from the information you have, the result is unknown, not a confirmed pass. Do not substitute a guess based only on the brand or name of the adapter.
3. Compare each requirement, not just one
Use the minimum column as a first-pass check. A PC that meets the listed operating-system, processor, memory, and graphics requirements appears to meet the published minimums; a value below any one of them means it does not meet that listed threshold. This is only a comparison with the store specifications, not a benchmark result or confirmation that the game has been tested on your hardware.

If you prefer a mouse, the listing says mouse controls also work. If you already have a gamepad, the listing says it can control character movement directly. Neither option changes the published Windows, processor, RAM, GPU, or DirectX requirements, and there is no basis here for treating a controller as a required accessory.
Do not use the original Machinarium’s requirements
The original Machinarium is a separate game with older requirements. Its Steam Support page lists Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10, a 1.8 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, and 1 GB free space. Those figures apply to the original, not Machinarium 2; they cannot establish whether the sequel will run on your PC.
The difference is particularly important if you find a search result or old support page with the first game’s name. Its 1 GB of RAM and 1 GB of free space are not the sequel’s requirements, and its older operating-system list is not a substitute for the Windows 10 64-bit or better requirement currently shown for Machinarium 2. Use the sequel’s own current storefront page when checking compatibility.
Amanita Design also announced technical changes for the original Windows release: on March 25, 2025, it added DirectX 12 support and said a DirectX 9 executable remained available; on December 16, 2025, it said OpenGL became the default renderer, with DX12 and DX9 still selectable. These are updates to the original game and do not change the requirements published for Machinarium 2.
Those renderer announcements concern the original game’s Windows release. They do not add DirectX 9, DirectX 12, or OpenGL options to the sequel’s published requirements. For Machinarium 2, the current listing says DirectX 11-compatible GPU and DirectX 11; do not transfer the original game’s technical options to it.
Release status and checking again
As of the Epic Games Store listing accessed October 9, 2026, Machinarium 2 is listed for Windows and marked Coming Soon. PC Gamer’s October 8, 2026 report said no release date had been announced at that point. Since the game is unreleased, its listed requirements and availability may change. Check the Machinarium 2 store listing close to release and again before purchase for current requirements, storage information, and release status.
