The reliable way to check is on the PlayStation console currently signed in to your account. Open the PlayStation Plus hub, choose the Game Catalog, and search for the title. On PS5, go to Games home screen > PlayStation Plus > Benefits > Game Catalog. On PS4, go to Function screen > PlayStation Plus > Game Catalog.
A previous download, an old library entry, or a search result from another country does not prove that a game is still available. The result depends on your account, country or region, membership tier, and the catalog’s current availability.
Check the live catalog on PS5
PlayStation Support’s current PS5 path is:
- From the Games home screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Scroll to the Benefits tab.
- Select Game Catalog.
- Use the catalog search or browse the list for the game’s exact title.
Open the game’s catalog page rather than relying only on a tile in your home screen or library. The catalog page is the useful check because it reflects what PlayStation is offering through the service for the signed-in account at that time.

What an eligible listing looks like
If the title appears in the current Game Catalog and presents a catalog action such as downloading or streaming where supported, the listing indicates that your account can access it through the service. Your console still needs to be signed in to the account with the qualifying membership, and the game must be supported on the console or play method you are using.

Read the title page carefully. Confirm that the edition, platform and language shown are the version you mean to play. A similarly named deluxe edition, remaster or regional release can have a different listing or entitlement. If the page offers the catalog action rather than only a purchase price, that is the strongest on-console indication that the subscription includes that listing.
Check the live catalog on PS4
On PS4, the menu is different but the check is the same:
- From the function screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Scroll down and select Game Catalog.
- Search for the title in the catalog shown for your account.
Do not use a PS5 menu path on PS4. Both consoles use the PlayStation Plus hub, but the location of the catalog option differs. If a system update has moved a label, start from the PlayStation Plus hub and look for the Game Catalog entry rather than relying on an old screenshot.

Confirm that your membership tier includes the catalog
Game Catalog access is a membership benefit, not a feature of every PlayStation Plus plan. The commonly used plan structure is:

Plan names and available tiers can differ by country or region; some territories use a local equivalent of Premium. Check the plan shown under your account’s PlayStation Plus subscription page. Upgrading to a catalog tier does not make a game available if that game has already left the service.
Make sure you are checking the catalog that matches the title. A classic game may be listed in the Classics Catalog rather than the current Game Catalog, and Premium is the tier that includes both. Extra is sufficient for current Game Catalog access but does not by itself include the Classics Catalog.
Interpret what you find

A library icon is historical evidence that the account interacted with the game; it is not a guarantee that the game remains in the Game Catalog. Installation files can remain on the drive after the service entitlement changes, so an installed game is not proof of current catalog inclusion.

Do not confuse Game Catalog titles with monthly games
PlayStation Plus has two different benefits that can look similar in the library.
Game Catalog titles
These are games included in a rotating service catalog. PlayStation can announce an end date and remove a catalog game. Once it leaves, downloading it again or launching an existing installation through the subscription may no longer work.

Monthly games
Monthly games can be added to your game library during the period in which they are offered. They remain playable while your PlayStation Plus membership is active, even after the monthly promotion ends. Their entitlement is therefore different from a game that you only accessed through the rotating Game Catalog.
If a game is in your library, check how you originally obtained it. A monthly-game entitlement, a catalog entitlement, and a purchased license can produce different results when a subscription changes or a title is removed.
For example, a title that you selected during its monthly offer should be checked as a monthly-game entitlement, while a title you merely downloaded from the rotating catalog should be checked against today’s catalog listing. Both can appear in the same library, but their continuation rules are not the same. If the membership is inactive, a monthly game can be locked even though it remains listed in your library; if a catalog game has departed, renewing does not guarantee that it will return.
Check removal dates before assuming the game is broken
Catalog availability changes over time. PlayStation says some Game Catalog and Classics Catalog games have announced end dates and that removal dates are publicized ahead of time. A game that worked last month, or that you downloaded before an announced departure, can therefore stop being available through PlayStation Plus.
- Open the current Game Catalog listing on the console.
- Look for a removal or end-date notice on the title page, catalog banner, or PlayStation Plus announcement associated with the game.
- Compare the notice with the date and time your console is showing.
- If the end date has passed, treat the title as no longer included unless you own it separately.
Check again close to the time you plan to play. A public announcement can identify an upcoming departure, while the console listing confirms what is currently offered to your account. The timing can also differ from what an older article or social-media post says, so use the live listing for the final decision.
Do not assume that renewing or upgrading your subscription will automatically bring a departed game back. Resubscribing can restore access to subscription-based entitlements that are still offered, but PlayStation does not promise that every removed title will return to the catalog.

The catalog is tied to the country or region of the PlayStation account and can vary by plan. PlayStation directs users to the PlayStation Plus hub on their console for the complete list available in their country or region.
- Confirm the signed-in email address is the account that owns the PlayStation Plus subscription.
- Check the subscription status and tier under the account’s PlayStation Plus membership details.
- Use the account’s actual country or region, not a public list from another territory.
- Search the title’s exact regional name; editions, language titles, and age-rating rules can affect how a game is listed.
- If several family members use the console, verify which account is trying to launch the game.
A public web page or a result from a search engine may show that a game is in PlayStation Plus somewhere, but it cannot settle availability for every account. The console hub is the appropriate regional check.
Do not change your account region simply to match another catalog. The practical check is the region already associated with the account you use, because that is the listing tied to its subscription and entitlements. When helping someone remotely, ask that person to search their own console rather than treating your catalog view as definitive.

Understand the effect on downloadable content
Downloadable content and add-ons can depend on the base game’s subscription entitlement. PlayStation states that if your membership expires or the game leaves the service, associated DLC and add-ons also become unavailable through that entitlement. Access can return if you resubscribe or purchase the title, provided the relevant content and license remain supported.

Check which license you own: a purchased base game, a catalog access right, and an add-on are separate entitlements. If the base game was removed from the catalog, the DLC may remain installed but unusable until the base-game entitlement is restored.
When troubleshooting an add-on, first check the base game in the current catalog and then check the add-on’s ownership on the same account. Restoring licenses or reinstalling an add-on cannot recreate a catalog inclusion that has ended. If you later purchase the base game, the associated DLC may become usable again, but the result depends on the applicable license and whether the content is still supported.
Troubleshoot a missing or unplayable title
Work through these checks in order so that you can identify whether the problem is catalog availability or a local account issue.
- Return to the catalog. Open the Game Catalog from the PS5 or PS4 path above and search there, rather than only in the installed-games list.
- Check the tier. Confirm that the account has Extra, Premium, or the applicable local plan that includes catalog access.
- Check the account. Sign out only if necessary, then sign back in to the account that owns the subscription. Do not assume another user on the same console has the same entitlement.
- Check the region. Make sure the account’s country or region is the one whose catalog you are viewing. Catalog contents are not universal.
- Check for a departure. Look for a published end date or removal notice. A previously downloaded game can remain visible in the library after its service entitlement ends.
- Check whether it was a monthly game. If you added it as a monthly game, verify that the membership is active. If it was only a catalog title, its departure can explain the lock.
- Check ownership. If the store offers a purchase, determine whether the account ever bought the game or whether another account owns it.
- Restart the entitlement check. Close the game, restart the console, and open the title again from the account with the subscription. This can refresh a stale local status but cannot restore a removed catalog title.
- Contact PlayStation Support. Provide the account region, membership tier, console model, exact title and edition, the message shown on screen, and when the game last worked.
Take a screenshot of the title page and the message shown when you try to launch. Note whether the game is installed, whether the catalog page offers download or streaming, and whether the problem affects one account or every account on the console. These details help support distinguish a missing listing from a subscription, account or licensing problem.
Checking a game without the console
PlayStation publishes games guides and catalog information, but a public list should be treated as a reference rather than a universal entitlement check. It may not reflect your account’s country or region, plan, the exact edition you own, or a removal that has just taken effect.
If you are deciding whether to download a game, use the console’s PlayStation Plus hub immediately before starting. If you are helping someone in another country, ask them to perform the same check on their own account instead of relying on your catalog view.
Web information is useful for finding a game’s official name or learning that an end date has been announced. It is not a substitute for the signed-in console check. Catalog contents vary over time and by plan, and the complete country-specific list is presented through the PlayStation Plus hub.

A practical pre-purchase checklist
- Is the game visible in the current Game Catalog or, for an older title, the Classics Catalog?
- Is the signed-in account the one with the qualifying subscription?
- Does that subscription include the catalog you are checking?
- Is the console showing the correct country or region for the account?
- Is there an announced removal date?
- Was the game obtained through the catalog, as a monthly game, or by purchase?
- Will any DLC depend on the same base-game entitlement?
If every answer matches and the title still will not launch, record the exact error and contact PlayStation Support. That information lets support distinguish a catalog change from an account or licensing fault.

The game was downloaded months ago
Downloading proves only that the account had access at the time of download. Return to the current catalog and check for an active listing or departure notice. If the title is no longer listed, the installation does not preserve the subscription entitlement.
The game appears for a friend
Your friend may be using a different account region, a different membership tier, a monthly-game entitlement or a purchased license. Compare the signed-in account and the exact edition before concluding that your catalog is malfunctioning.
The game is listed but the action is a purchase
Verify that the listing is being viewed from the PlayStation Plus hub, that the subscription is active and that the account has Extra or Premium, or the corresponding local tier. If those checks pass and the title still shows only a purchase option, ask PlayStation Support to review the entitlement rather than assuming an upgrade will help.
The game launches offline after leaving
An offline launch or an already-open session is not proof of continuing catalog access. Check the live listing before deleting the installation or moving the console. Once the service entitlement is checked again, the title may become locked if it has left or the membership has expired.

Renewing can restore subscription access to titles that are still offered. PlayStation does not promise that every game removed from the catalog will return, so check the current listing before renewing for a particular title.

What happens to DLC when a catalog game leaves?
PlayStation says associated DLC and add-ons also become unavailable through that subscription entitlement when membership expires or the game leaves. Access can return after resubscribing or purchasing the title, provided the relevant licenses remain supported.
Why does a public list disagree with my console?
