Check the Steam Deck compatibility rating for the exact game—not the Humble Bundle as a whole. In Steam, open the game in your Deck library or find its page in the Steam store, then inspect the Steam Deck compatibility section. If the rating is Playable or Unknown, open the detailed information before deciding what to expect.
Check the individual game, not the bundle
A Humble Bundle can include multiple games, and each title has its own Steam Deck compatibility rating. A rating for one game says nothing about the other games in the bundle. Make a list of the titles you want to play and check them separately.
This guide applies when a bundle item is a game that can be added to your Steam library. It does not assume that every Humble Bundle game comes as a Steam key or explain how to redeem a particular item; check the delivery and redemption information shown for your purchase.

The practical question is not simply “Does this bundle work on Steam Deck?” It is “What does Steam currently say about this specific game, and what does that rating require me to do?” A bundle may contain a mix of titles with different ratings. Even when two games share a series, publisher, or release date, do not assume one title’s rating applies to another.

Where to find a game’s Steam Deck rating
- Identify the exact title. Use the game’s full name as it appears in Steam. If a bundle contains several games, repeat these steps for each one.
- Check from your Steam Deck library. If the game is in your Steam account, open its library entry on the Deck and look for its Steam Deck compatibility information. Valve also provides a way to filter the Deck library by compatibility rating.
- Or check the Steam store page. Find the exact game in the Steam store and inspect the Steam Deck compatibility section on its details page. Valve displays ratings in both the store and library.
- Open the rating details. The badge is a useful summary, but the detailed breakdown explains what may need attention—particularly for a game rated Playable.
When searching the store, make sure the page you open is for the same title as the bundle item. Editions, remasters, sequels, and similarly named games can have separate pages and separate assessments. If the item is already in your Steam account, its library entry is a convenient way to check the game you actually own. The store page is an alternative when you want to look up a title before adding it to your library.
Steam’s Deck library filter can help sort a collection by compatibility rating, but it does not replace checking a particular game’s details. Use the filter to find titles with a given rating, then open the relevant entry and read any notes. The individual title’s rating is the result that matters—not a general impression of the bundle or of the game’s publisher.
The rating is a Steam title-level assessment. It is not a rating for the bundle, the way a particular Humble purchase is delivered, or a guarantee that every future game update will behave the same way.
What each compatibility label means

Verified and Playable are not interchangeable. Verified means Valve’s checks pass without configuration work; Playable signals that the game can function but may call for user intervention. For Playable, the listed detail matters more than the badge alone.
Valve’s Steamworks documentation defines Verified this way: “Your game passes all compatibility checks. No configuration work is required for users to access all game functionality.” That is a stronger standard than merely launching to a title screen. A game might start and still miss a Verified requirement involving controls, text entry, a launcher, or another part of the experience.
Playable is not a euphemism for broken, but it is also not a no-setup promise. The listed task could be as small as opening the on-screen keyboard when needed, or it could mean interacting with a launcher by touchscreen or choosing a different controller layout. Read the detail panel and decide whether that particular step is acceptable for your use. A short note about a manual action can tell you more than the single word on the badge.
Unknown means Valve has not completed the review process; it is not a hidden positive rating. Valve’s definition says that information about how the game will play on the device is unavailable. Do not translate Unknown into “probably fine” or “definitely incompatible.” The rating gives you no completed review result either way.

Unsupported indicates a problem in Valve’s assessment, such as a Proton or specific hardware incompatibility. It is different from Unknown: Unknown describes missing review information, while Unsupported reflects a negative compatibility result. Neither rating is an availability label. Steam’s rating affects presentation, but by itself does not remove a title from a library or store.
What Valve checks before marking a game Verified
Valve’s checks cover more than whether a game launches. They consider whether the physical controls work, whether the default controller setup provides access to the game’s functionality, whether controller prompts use appropriate glyphs, and whether text entry is usable. The review also covers default performance, launcher navigation, supported resolution, and readable interface text.
In practical terms, these checks ask whether a player can use the Deck as a handheld rather than rely on an external keyboard, mouse, or a sequence of workarounds for basic tasks. Controller support includes both whether the physical controls work and whether the default configuration provides access to all game functionality. Appropriate controller glyphs matter because prompts should make sense for the controls being used. Usable text entry is another part of the experience, especially when a game asks the player to type.
Valve also considers whether a launcher can be navigated, whether the game supports the Deck’s resolution, and whether interface text is readable. These are reasons a game could be less convenient than its launch behavior alone suggests. The rating details are useful precisely because a compatibility result is based on a collection of checks rather than a single test of whether the executable opens.

It also specifies a minimum interface font height of 9 pixels at 1280×800. These are certification criteria, not a general performance guarantee: they do not promise that every game, graphics preset, or later update will deliver 30 fps in all circumstances.
Keep the 30 fps and 800p figures in context. They describe a threshold used in Valve’s Verified criteria, not a claim that a game’s frame rate will stay fixed in every scene or at every setting. They are also not a prediction for a different resolution or graphics configuration. Similarly, the 9-pixel font-height requirement is a legibility criterion at 1280×800, not a promise that every interface element will suit every player’s eyesight or preferred display settings.
A title that misses one or more Verified criteria may still be rated Playable. For that reason, a game that is not Verified is not automatically unusable; inspect its actual rating and any accompanying explanation. The reverse is important too: a positive first impression from launching a game does not make it Verified. Use Valve’s current label and detailed notes rather than guessing which criterion a title passed or missed.

Why a Windows game may still work on Steam Deck
Steam Deck runs a Linux-based operating system. Games without a native Linux build can run through Proton, Valve’s compatibility layer for running Windows games on Linux-based Steam hardware. A Windows-only listing therefore does not, by itself, settle whether a game works on Deck.

Valve’s Proton documentation notes that problems can arise when a game relies on unsupported middleware or Windows functionality that Proton does not fully implement. Some anti-cheat middleware also requires configuration by the game developer. The current Steam rating is Valve’s published review result, not a timeless guarantee against software or review changes.
This is why the operating-system label is not a substitute for the compatibility section. Seeing “Windows” does not prove that a title cannot run on Deck, because Proton can provide a way to run Windows games. Seeing a native Linux build does not establish that the full Deck experience meets every Verified check, either. The rating and its notes address the device experience more directly than the operating-system label alone.
Proton is a compatibility layer, not a promise that every Windows feature or middleware package works. Valve’s documentation identifies unsupported middleware and Windows functionality that is not fully implemented as potential sources of problems. Anti-cheat can be a particular dependency because some middleware needs developer-side configuration. If a game relies on such components, the result can differ from a simpler game even though both are Windows titles.
Ratings and compatibility conditions can change. A game can receive updates, Proton can evolve, and Valve’s review data can be updated. Treat a badge as the current published assessment rather than a permanent warranty. If you are deciding what to play now, use the current store or library information instead of an old note or saved screenshot.

Use one row per game so you do not carry a result from one title over to another. Record the current badge and the practical details that affect your willingness to play it:

For a useful comparison, start with the current badge, then note the work needed to play. Two Playable games may involve very different compromises: one might need an alternate controller configuration, while another might require touchscreen interaction with a launcher. The rating details let you distinguish those cases instead of treating every Playable title as equally convenient.

Keep Unknown titles in a separate category when deciding what to install or play first. Unknown does not mean the game is worse than a Playable title; it means Valve has not published a completed review result. That absence gives you less official information for planning. Similarly, an Unsupported result is not equivalent to Unknown: one is a negative assessment, and the other is an incomplete one.
If you are prioritizing a short list, you can sort by the question that matters most to you: the clearest positive assessment, the fewest listed manual steps, or the least uncertainty. Do not infer a ranking from bundle order, game genre, publisher, release date, or operating-system label. The rating is per title, and the details are the useful comparison when the label alone is not enough.
Do not infer a result from a game’s operating-system label alone. A native Linux build does not replace checking the rating and its details, and a Windows build is not automatically incompatible because Proton may provide a way to run it.

A compatibility rating affects how Steam presents a title. It does not, by itself, remove the game from your Steam library or the Deck store. In particular, an Unsupported or Unknown label is not an availability notice: it describes compatibility status or the lack of a completed review, not whether the title is present in your account.
Ratings can change as games, Proton, and Valve’s review data change. If you are checking a title well before you plan to play it, or its behavior seems inconsistent with an older result, look at its current Steam store or library information rather than relying on a saved badge.
Compatibility checking also does not establish how a Humble item is delivered. The bundle listing and purchase information are the place to verify the item and its delivery details. This guide only explains how to assess a game once you are checking it as a Steam title; it does not assume that every bundle item uses the same redemption method.

Valve’s Steamworks compatibility and Proton documentation, accessed October 9, 2026, describe the rating criteria and how Proton fits into Steam hardware compatibility. The pages do not show a publication date, so the safest way to use the rating is as current guidance in Steam, not as a permanent result detached from later game or software changes.
