Use the U.S. Department of Labor’s FLAG Processing Times page to see the current PERM queue dates and reported average decision time. To look up one application, use FLAG’s Case Status Search and enter its full case number, including dashes. Applications filed before May 31, 2023, are directed to the legacy PLC status site. These free government tools answer different questions: one shows how far a queue has progressed; the other searches for an individual case.
If you are a worker tracking a labor certification, start by asking the employer or its authorized representative for the complete case number. PERM is an employer process, and the public status tool does not let a worker change a filing. Use the Processing Times page for a dated overview of cases being adjudicated, then use Case Status Search for the specific application. Neither a queue month nor an average is a promised decision date.
How long is PERM taking right now?
As shown on the Office of Foreign Labor Certification’s Processing Times page on October 5, 2026, Analyst Review and Audit Review were both displaying December 2025 priority dates. The Reconsideration Request to the Certifying Officer queue was displaying May 2026 appeal requests. For August 2026, the page reported an average Analyst Review determination time of 336 calendar days; it did not report an August average for Audit Review.

| PERM processing-time row | What the date or measurement represents | Snapshot shown October 5, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Analyst Review | Priority date of cases currently being adjudicated | December 2025 |
| Audit Review | Priority date of cases currently being adjudicated | December 2025 |
| Reconsideration Request to the Certifying Officer | Month of appeal requests currently being adjudicated | May 2026 |
| Analyst Review average determination time | Average calendar days, reported for August 2026 | 336 calendar days |
| Audit Review average determination time | Average calendar days, reported for August 2026 | N/A |
These are different kinds of measurements, not interchangeable estimates. The first three rows show the month and year of cases or appeal requests currently being adjudicated. The average is a reported duration for a recent month. Neither tells you when a particular employer’s application will be decided. OFLC says it may complete cases filed earlier than the displayed date and cautions that “Actual processing times for each employer’s PERM application may vary from the average depending on material facts and individual circumstances of the case.”

Treat the figures as a dated snapshot, not a forecast or deadline. The page says its averages cover the most recent month and gives a regular update schedule: PERM processing times are updated at the close of business at the end of the first work week of each month, using data through midnight Eastern Time on the first of that month. Check the live Processing Times page for a newer update before drawing conclusions from the October 5 figures.
The figures have distinct labels and date bases. December 2025 is a priority month for cases currently being adjudicated in Analyst Review and Audit Review. May 2026, by contrast, is the month of appeal requests currently being adjudicated in the Reconsideration Request to the Certifying Officer queue. The 336-calendar-day number is an average Analyst Review determination time reported for August 2026. It is not another queue date. Keeping these categories separate helps avoid treating unlike measurements as competing versions of the same estimate.
For a quick comparison, first identify the row that matches the stage you are asking about. Next, check whether that row reports a filing priority month, an appeal-request month, or an average duration. Finally, note the “as of” date and the reporting month attached to the figure. A queue month indicates which filing or appeal-request months are currently being adjudicated in that queue; the average describes a recent group of determinations. Neither figure says that an individual case is at that point or sets a deadline for its outcome.

Search FLAG Case Status Search
- Find the complete case number. Use the full PERM case number, including its dashes. FLAG release notes say external filers can search with the complete number. A partial number or a priority date is not a substitute.
- Open FLAG Case Status Search. The page supports PERM searches and accepts up to 30 case numbers, with one case number entered per line.
- Submit the number and review the result. This is the route for an individual case lookup; the Processing Times page is for aggregate queue information. If you are checking multiple applications, put each full number on its own line.
The case number is the key detail that makes this a case-level search rather than a general timing check. Copy it carefully, preserving the dashes, and avoid substituting an employer name, an approximate filing date, or a queue month. If an employer or representative filed the application, ask that filer for the full number when you do not have it. The public search page supports up to 30 numbers at once, but each must be entered on a separate line.
For filings made before May 31, 2023
The current Case Status Search page directs users with applications filed before May 31, 2023, to the legacy PLC site at plc.doleta.gov. Use that older system for these filings rather than assuming a missing result in the current FLAG search means the case does not exist. The date cutoff applies to the filing: check when the application was filed, then follow the relevant system’s instruction.
For a case filed through your FLAG account
A filer with a FLAG account can open submitted-case details there. FLAG’s Frequently Asked Questions says a new application usually remains in “pre-submitted” status for under fifteen minutes before its permanent case number becomes available. Once it is available, Case Details can show the submitted application PDF and available case actions. Finalized PERM determinations appear in the Historical table under My Cases.
This account view is useful to the filer who submitted the application; it does not change what the public case-status search or queue page means. If you are the worker rather than the employer or filer, ask the employer or its authorized representative for the case number and any account-only details you need. PERM is an employer process, not a case a worker can independently edit.

“Pre-submitted” is therefore a short initial account status, not the permanent identifier to use for external tracking. FLAG says a newly submitted application usually stays in that status for under fifteen minutes before its permanent case number is available. Once it appears, the filer can use Case Details to view the submitted application PDF or take available case actions. For completed matters, the account’s Historical table under My Cases is where finalized PERM determinations appear.
What the queue dates and average do—and do not—tell you
A queue month is not an individual decision date
A displayed priority month tells you the filing month of cases currently being adjudicated in the relevant queue. It does not establish that every earlier case is complete, that every case from the displayed month is being handled in order, or that your case will be decided by a particular date. OFLC explicitly notes that it may complete applications filed earlier than the date displayed. Individual case facts and procedural circumstances can affect timing.
The posted queue date is best used as a broad indicator of the queue’s current progress. It is not a confirmation that the Department of Labor has reached a particular case, and it does not supply an outcome. Two applications filed in a similar period may not have the same processing experience, which is why OFLC warns that material facts and individual circumstances can make an employer’s actual timing differ from the average. Use the individual search for your case’s posted status rather than inferring it from the queue month.
The average is not a promise or a case-specific countdown
The 336-day figure is the reported August 2026 average for Analyst Review determinations, as shown on October 5, 2026. It is a calendar-day average for that reporting month, not a guaranteed processing time for a new filing, a target that every case meets, or a measurement of the Audit Review queue. The page did not report an Audit Review average for August 2026, so the December 2025 Audit Review queue date should not be treated as a substitute duration.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Do not use the 336 days as a personal countdown by adding it to a filing date. The source identifies it as an average determination time for Analyst Review during August 2026, while also warning that individual applications vary. The number is useful for understanding a recent reported average, but it does not predict the timing for an application filed now or establish how long a particular case has left.
Reconsideration uses a different date basis
The displayed May 2026 date belongs to the Reconsideration Request to the Certifying Officer queue and refers to the month appeal requests are being adjudicated. It is not a PERM application priority date and cannot be compared directly with the Analyst Review or Audit Review dates as though all three were filing-date cutoffs.
Keep this distinction in view if you are comparing the page’s rows: Analyst Review and Audit Review list priority dates for PERM applications being adjudicated; reconsideration lists the month of appeal requests being adjudicated. The average is a separate measurement again. A reader asking “How long is PERM taking?” should check the row that corresponds to the relevant queue and avoid combining these dates into one universal timeline.

When to contact the OFLC PERM Helpdesk
The current Processing Times page says a filer may contact OFLC if a PERM application was filed more than three months before the month posted. Check the live page to determine whether that threshold applies to your case; compare the filing date with the posted queue month, not with the average calendar-day figure. The page lists oflc.plc@dol.gov and plc.atlanta@dol.gov. Confirm the current contact details on the official page before sending a message.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsInclude enough information for the office to identify the matter, particularly the complete case number, and describe the status question plainly. The page does not promise a response time or a particular result from an inquiry, so contacting the helpdesk should be understood as a status inquiry—not a way to accelerate adjudication or obtain a guaranteed decision.
The three-month guidance is tied to the filing date and the month posted on the Processing Times page. It is not a rule to apply to the average-days figure, and it does not guarantee a response, a faster review, or a particular decision. If the displayed month changes before you write, recheck the live page rather than relying on an older screenshot or a date copied from a previous update. The page’s listed contact addresses and threshold are the details to verify at the time of inquiry.
When writing, state the full case number and the question you need answered. Keep the request focused on status. The official page does not promise that an email will produce a case-specific explanation or an estimated completion date, so do not treat an inquiry as a substitute for the online status lookup or as an escalation that changes the case’s place in the process.
What to do if the search does not answer your question
- No result for a recent submission: If you submitted through a FLAG account, verify that the application has moved beyond “pre-submitted” and that the permanent case number has been issued. FLAG says this usually takes under fifteen minutes, but that is a typical transition time, not a guarantee.
- No result for an older filing: If the application was filed before May 31, 2023, follow the current Case Status Search page’s instruction to use the legacy PLC site.
- You have only an approximate date or incomplete number: Ask the employer or filer for the complete case number before searching. The external search uses the full number, including dashes.
- The result and queue page appear inconsistent: They answer different questions. Case Status Search looks for a specific application; Processing Times reports the progress of groups of cases. A displayed queue month does not promise that an individual case is at that stage or establish its final outcome.
- You need case-specific legal advice: The FLAG overview explains the employer’s filing process, but the public timing tools do not determine what a particular employer or worker should do in a fact-specific situation. Qualified employment-based immigration counsel may be appropriate for individualized advice; no adviser can be inferred from or endorsed by the processing-time figures.
When a lookup is confusing, work through the basics before interpreting the result. Confirm the application’s filing date and whether it falls before the May 31, 2023 cutoff. Check that you have the complete number, including dashes. If the case was filed through a FLAG account, the filer can check Case Details and, for finalized determinations, My Cases’ Historical table. Then compare any individual result with the proper row on the Processing Times page, remembering that the page summarizes a queue rather than guaranteeing an individual status.
If you are the employee and the system asks for information you do not have, the practical next step is to contact the employer or authorized filer for the case number or account-only details. The employer process is not something the worker can independently edit through the public status tool. If the issue involves what action to take in a specific situation, a qualified employment-based immigration lawyer may be able to advise on those facts; that is separate from checking government queue statistics.
Why the employer controls the PERM filing
PERM, or Permanent Employment Certification, is an employer process administered by the Department of Labor. FLAG’s PERM overview says an employer must obtain a prevailing wage determination before filing and register a Login.gov account and a FLAG account before submitting online. That context matters when tracking: the worker may need the employer or its representative to provide the complete case number, access account details, or make filing-related decisions. A public status lookup is for checking progress, not changing the application.

The official FLAG pages are the appropriate starting point for checking the queue and searching a case. Commercial tracking services cannot control DOL adjudication, and the cited pages do not suggest that a third party can make a case move faster. The official tools are free, and a physical product or paid tracker is not needed to perform the basic task of checking the published queue or searching a case number.

For queue-level figures, use the OFLC Processing Times page. The October 5, 2026 snapshot listed Analyst Review and Audit Review at December 2025, reconsideration requests to the Certifying Officer at May 2026, and a 336-calendar-day Analyst Review average for August 2026. It listed Audit Review’s August average as N/A. The page’s schedule says PERM timing information is updated at the close of business at the end of the first work week of each month, based on data through midnight Eastern Time on the first of that month.
For a particular case, use FLAG Case Status Search and enter the full case number, including dashes. Its current instructions direct pre-May 31, 2023 filings to the legacy PLC site. For account-specific information, including the submitted application PDF or available case actions, the filer can use FLAG Case Details; finalized PERM determinations are in My Cases’ Historical table. The FLAG FAQ explains the usual pre-submitted transition, and the PERM overview describes the employer’s filing context.
These pages serve distinct purposes. Processing Times provides the group-level queue dates and recent reported averages; Case Status Search identifies a specific application; FLAG account details are available to the filer who submitted it. Starting with the right page prevents a queue statistic from being mistaken for a personal case update.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check my PERM case status?
Open FLAG Case Status Search and enter the complete PERM case number, including dashes. The tool accepts up to 30 case numbers, one per line. Use the Processing Times page for queue information, not for a case-specific lookup.
Where do I find the PERM processing time?
Use the Office of Foreign Labor Certification’s FLAG Processing Times page. It lists queue dates and reported averages. Check the page’s current update date because the figures change over time, and read each row’s label to distinguish a priority month, appeal-request month, and average duration.
How long is PERM taking right now?
The October 5, 2026 snapshot showed December 2025 priority dates for Analyst Review and Audit Review, a May 2026 month for reconsideration requests to the Certifying Officer, and a 336-calendar-day Analyst Review average for August 2026. Audit Review’s August average was listed as N/A. These are dated group-level figures, not a forecast for an individual case.

What if my PERM case is older than the posted processing date?
The current OFLC Processing Times page says a filer may contact OFLC if the application was filed more than three months before the month posted. Check the live page and its contact details first. The page lists oflc.plc@dol.gov and plc.atlanta@dol.gov, but it does not promise a response time or a particular outcome.
Where should I check a PERM application filed before May 31, 2023?
The current FLAG Case Status Search page directs users with applications filed before May 31, 2023, to the legacy PLC site at plc.doleta.gov. Use that system for those filings rather than interpreting a missing current FLAG result as proof the case does not exist.
Why is my case number not available yet in FLAG?
FLAG’s FAQ says a new application usually remains in “pre-submitted” status for under fifteen minutes before its permanent case number becomes available. The filer can check the FLAG account and Case Details once it is issued. The stated timing is typical, not a guarantee.
Can a worker change or speed up a PERM case?
PERM is an employer process. A worker can use the public status search when they have the complete number, but the worker does not independently edit the filing through that search. The official timing pages do not say that a commercial service or third party can accelerate DOL adjudication.
Does the 336-day average mean my case will be decided in 336 days?
No. That was the August 2026 Analyst Review average shown on October 5, 2026, not a guaranteed duration or case-specific countdown. OFLC says actual processing times vary with material facts and individual circumstances.
What does the reconsideration date mean?
The May 2026 entry shown on October 5, 2026, refers to the month of appeal requests currently being adjudicated in the Reconsideration Request to the Certifying Officer queue. It is not a PERM application priority date and should not be compared as if it were an Analyst Review or Audit Review filing cutoff.
What can a FLAG account filer see that a public search does not provide?
A filer can open Case Details for a submitted case to view the submitted application PDF or take available case actions. FLAG says finalized PERM determinations appear in the Historical table under My Cases. Workers who need those account-only details may need to ask the employer or authorized representative.
The Bottom Line
For current queue information, check FLAG’s Processing Times page and note its update date; for your own application, search Case Status Search with the complete case number, including dashes. Use the legacy PLC site for filings before May 31, 2023. Queue dates and averages are group-level snapshots, not guaranteed decision dates. If a filing is more than three months older than the month posted, check OFLC’s live page for its current helpdesk guidance and contact details.
