To check whether your OnePlus phone can receive an OxygenOS update, first record the exact model and current software version at Settings > About device. Compare that model with OnePlus’s official compatibility information for the relevant OxygenOS version, then open the model-specific OnePlus Community release notice and match its regional and carrier build details. Finally, check the phone itself at Settings > About device > OxygenOS card.
A phone can be eligible without having the update yet. OnePlus distributes many updates incrementally, sometimes to a small percentage of users first, and says timing can vary by model, country and carrier. A missing notification on release day therefore does not prove that your device is unsupported. The reliable answer comes from matching all five details: exact model, installed build, region, carrier status and current updater result.
Eligibility, rollout and support are three different checks
“Is my phone supported?” and “Why has my phone not received the update?” are separate questions. Use the following sequence rather than treating the update process as a single yes-or-no status.

What to record before checking
Write down the information exactly as the phone displays it. A marketing name such as a series or family name may cover several regional or carrier variants.
- Exact device or model name: found under Settings > About device.
- Current OxygenOS version and build: record the complete value, including letters, numbers and punctuation.
- Country or sales region: note where the phone was purchased or activated. India and EU/Global variants can have different builds for the same marketed phone.
- Carrier status: identify whether the handset is a carrier-exclusive model or an open-market device.
- Date checked: recording the date helps you tell a genuinely new rollout notice from an older one.
Do not replace the exact model with a similar-looking name. The regional suffix and carrier status can determine which release notice applies. A screenshot or copied text from the About device page is useful when comparing several notices, because a single missing character in a build code can point to a different software branch.
Step-by-step: check OnePlus update eligibility and rollout status
1. Identify the exact model and installed software
- Open Settings.
- Tap About device.
- Copy the exact device name or model identifier and the current OxygenOS version/build.
- Record the phone’s region and carrier variant if those details appear in the device information, packaging or purchase record.
This gives you the identifiers needed to distinguish an eligible model from a similarly named regional or carrier version. If the phone was imported, use the market in which that unit was sold rather than assuming that your current location changes its software branch.
2. Check the official compatibility information
Open OnePlus’s OxygenOS 16 compatibility page or the official page for the OxygenOS version you are investigating. Find your exact model rather than relying on a family name. The page explicitly says updates are rolled out in batches and that timing may vary by device model, country and carrier.
Treat the compatibility page as an eligibility starting point, not as proof that every unit has already received an OTA. OnePlus also says the listed devices are not an exhaustive list. If your model is not shown, look for a model-specific official Community announcement before concluding that it is excluded. Conversely, seeing a model on a broad list does not identify the precise regional build or tell you that the update is already available to your handset.
3. Check the phone’s OTA updater
- Go to Settings > About device.
- Tap the OxygenOS card.
- Allow the updater to check for an available version.
OnePlus gives this path in its official update guidance. Menu wording can vary with the installed OxygenOS version, but the updater is the authoritative check for whether an OTA has reached this particular device. If it reports that the software is current, that means no update is being offered to that phone at that moment; it does not by itself settle broader model eligibility.
Compare the offered build with the one in the official notice. An update card that shows a newer build is evidence of device-level availability, while a “system is up to date” message only describes the result of that check at that time. Keep the result with your model and region notes instead of treating it as a permanent status.
4. Find the model-specific release notice
Search the official OnePlus Community for the exact model and OxygenOS version. Read the complete notice, not just its headline. Check:

- the model named in the title and opening paragraph;
- the full build number;
- regional identifiers such as India (IN) or EU/Global (EU/GLO);
- whether the notice says the update is incremental, rolling out in batches or already broadly available;
- any carrier-specific qualification;
- the date and version described in the notice.
A notice for the same phone sold in another market may not apply to your handset. Match all of these fields with the information you recorded in step 1. If a headline says “EU/GLO added,” read the body to verify which build was added and whether the post still describes a staged rollout.
5. Interpret a staged rollout correctly
OnePlus describes incremental delivery as an initial release to a small percentage of users followed by a broader rollout in the coming days. Its July 2026 notice, “OxygenOS B90P01 – July 2026 Update”, uses that wording for the specific release covered by the notice.
If your model, region and build match but the updater is empty, the most defensible interpretation is that your device has not reached its rollout batch yet. Recheck the updater and the same official notice rather than treating the first day of availability as a deadline. OnePlus has not published a general average wait time or OTA completion rate that can be applied to every model. A date mentioned in one release notice is a date for that model, version and rollout, not a guarantee for all OnePlus phones.

For a carrier-exclusive phone, consult the carrier’s official update schedule as well as the OnePlus notice. OnePlus says carrier schedules are determined by the respective carriers, so an open-market release date cannot be assumed to apply to a carrier edition. If the phone was sold unlocked, use the open-market regional build listed in the notice instead of a carrier timetable.
Do not use a carrier announcement for an unlocked unit, or an unlocked announcement for a carrier edition, as a substitute for the correct notice. The software version may be related while the approval and delivery schedules remain separate.
How to read regional build identifiers
Official notices can list separate builds for the same marketed model. The identifier is part of the compatibility check; it is not decorative text that can be ignored.

These are examples of how OnePlus formats regional releases, not a universal mapping for every OnePlus phone. Always use the notice for your exact model and region. If the notice names only one region, it establishes availability for that listed region—not automatically for all markets.
When comparing two entries, preserve the punctuation and every digit. A similar-looking version number can represent a different regional package. The useful comparison is not simply “is OxygenOS 16 available?” but “does this exact model have this exact regional build, at this rollout stage, and does the updater offer it?”

What each result means
The model appears on the compatibility page and the OTA is offered
The model is identified as in scope and the update has reached your device. Read the release notice to confirm that the build and region match before installing. The notice can also explain whether the release is still incremental, which helps you understand why another unit may show a different status.
The model appears compatible but the OTA is not offered
Check the model-specific Community notice for a batch or incremental-rollout statement, then verify the regional and carrier build. A staged rollout can leave an eligible phone waiting while another phone of the same model receives the update. “Eligible” means the model is within the announced scope; it does not promise simultaneous delivery.
The notice exists, but its region or build does not match
Do not treat the notice as confirmation for your handset. Locate the entry for your region or wait for a notice that names it. India and EU/Global identifiers, for example, can be listed separately. A release for one region may be genuine and current while still being irrelevant to a phone sold in another region.

Use the carrier’s official schedule as the timing reference for that edition. OnePlus’s general release notice may describe the software while the carrier controls when it is approved and delivered. If the carrier has not posted a schedule, the OnePlus notice alone cannot supply a carrier-specific date.
The model is not listed
OnePlus says its compatibility list is not exhaustive, so absence from that page is not conclusive by itself. Search the official Community for the exact model and version. If there is no matching official notice and the updater offers nothing, there is no confirmed availability to act on; avoid inferring support from a similarly named model.
The updater says the phone is current, but a notice is several days old
First verify the region, carrier status and full build number. If all match, the notice’s incremental language is the most likely explanation supported by OnePlus’s guidance. Continue checking the updater and the official post rather than substituting a package intended for another region.
A practical comparison checklist for two notices or variants
When two announcements appear to cover the same phone, compare them in this order:

Why an update may still be missing
- Incremental delivery: the release has started, but your account or device has not been included in the current percentage.
- Regional sequencing: the notice may cover India while the EU/Global entry is still pending, or vice versa.
- Carrier approval: a carrier-exclusive model follows the carrier’s schedule rather than the open-market schedule.
- Model ambiguity: the phone’s marketing name may hide a different regional or carrier variant.
- Version mismatch: the notice may apply to a different base build or OxygenOS version than the one installed on your phone.
- Non-exhaustive compatibility information: a broad page may not list every model, so its omissions require a model-specific notice check.
For each case, return to the exact model, build and region recorded under About device, then compare those values with the official notice. OnePlus’s published material does not support a universal promise that every eligible device will receive an update on a particular day.
What OnePlus’s 2026 support statements establish
OnePlus’s Notice of Business Adjustment and the Community post “Important Information Regarding OnePlus Operations” state that existing OnePlus devices will continue receiving software updates, security patches and after-sales support within the support periods originally committed for each model.
Those statements do not provide a specific end date for every device. They also describe a future optional ColorOS upgrade for existing devices within an eligible scope, while legacy models outside that scope continue software maintenance. The notices reviewed do not publish the complete ColorOS-eligible model list or a universal migration date. Therefore, do not assume that every OnePlus phone will switch to ColorOS or that a particular date applies to your model.

Support continuity is a separate question from today’s OTA status. A device can remain inside its committed support period while waiting for a staged release, and a compatibility announcement does not replace the model’s original support commitment. Check the specific notice and your device updater for current availability.

Keep the model, build, region, rollout stage and updater result together. That five-part record is enough to distinguish confirmed eligibility from a release that has merely started elsewhere. Repeat the check after a new official notice or a change in the device’s displayed build, not merely because another market has received a notification.

Is a OnePlus update available in my region?
