Open Settings > Device care > Storage to check how much space is available on many Samsung phones. Depending on the model and software version, the menu may instead say Device maintenance. The Storage screen shows used and remaining space; if it is still calculating, wait for the figures to appear.
Check available storage in Settings

Tap Device care or Device maintenance.

Tap Storage and look for the available or remaining-space figure.
Samsung notes that labels and layouts can differ by model and software version. If you do not see Device care or Device maintenance, look for Storage in Settings. Samsung’s UK guide says the remaining-space indicator may take about a minute to calculate and can appear grey while it is working. Samsung UK’s storage instructions describe these menu variations and the calculation delay.

Review categories in Device care
On the Storage screen, review the listed data categories to see which types of content are taking up space. Open a category to inspect its contents; select only files you are sure you want to remove. Samsung’s Device care guide explains how to view categories and select files for deletion.

Analyze files in My Files
For a file-focused view, open My Files and use Analyze storage, if available. Samsung says this can show a storage breakdown and identify duplicate, large, or unused files. Treat the suggestions as items to review, not an instruction to delete: check each file before removing it. See Samsung’s My Files guide for the app’s analysis features.
Check SD or USB storage options
If your phone supports an SD card, the card’s remaining space may also appear near the bottom of the Storage screen. SD-card support depends on the specific model, so do not assume your Galaxy has a card slot. On supported phones, Samsung describes using an OTG connection to copy or move files between the phone and compatible USB or SD storage through My Files. Samsung Singapore’s transfer instructions cover this process and its compatibility caveat.

For regional differences in instructions and screens, Samsung notes that some device information applies to products sold in a particular country; its Canada support page makes that qualification explicit.
