For a US Samsung Galaxy phone, the fastest coverage check is Settings > Warranty and care > View details > View warranty details. You can also sign in to your Samsung Account, open My Products, and inspect the registered phone. If Samsung shows the wrong purchase date, use Review Warranty and submit acceptable purchase evidence before requesting service. A standard warranty repair must go through an authorized Samsung service channel; back up the phone first because service can delete or reformat some or all data.
What these instructions cover
The steps below are for Samsung’s US support systems and US mobile limited-warranty process. Warranty coverage, Care+ terms, available service channels, and consumer rights can differ by country or region. If you bought the phone elsewhere, use the Samsung support site for the country of purchase rather than assuming the US workflow or terms apply. Samsung’s country-of-purchase guidance is available through its service contact page.
Samsung does not publish one universal warranty result for every Galaxy model and purchase. The recorded coverage depends on the device, its original consumer purchase, the applicable terms, and the evidence you provide. The lookup tools show the status Samsung has associated with your account and device; they do not replace the warranty terms for your purchase.
Have these details ready before checking or filing
- The Samsung Account used to register or link the phone.
- The phone’s model number and serial number or IMEI. You may need one of these identifiers to begin a repair request.
- The original receipt or comparable purchase proof. Keep a clear image or scan available.
- If the date is disputed, evidence showing the purchase or delivery date, seller, product model, price, and applicable transaction details.
- A separate backup of photos, messages, files, authenticator data, and anything else you cannot replace. Samsung warns that service may delete or reformat some or all content.
Do not treat a date-correction document as automatically sufficient for a repair claim. Samsung uses different forms and evidence rules for product registration, warranty-date review, and service.

Check warranty status on the Galaxy phone
Samsung’s described on-device lookup is available on devices running One UI 9.0 or later, and the device must be linked to your Samsung Account. The exact tools shown can vary by device and region.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Warranty and care.
- On the current device card, tap View details.
- Tap View warranty details.
The panel can show the coverage type, expiration date, and plan details. Record or capture the displayed information before contacting support, especially if the expiration date appears inconsistent with your purchase documents.
If “Warranty and care” is missing
The menu is tied to One UI 9.0 and later and may not appear on an earlier software version, an unsupported model, or a device in a region with different support features. In that situation, use the Samsung Account method below. If the phone is not linked to the Samsung Account that owns it, the device-based details may not load; sign in with the account associated with the registration or use Samsung’s support site to add or inspect the product.

Check warranty status online through Samsung Account
The US website provides an account-based alternative and is also the route Samsung identifies for reviewing a potentially incorrect warranty date.
- Sign in to your Samsung Account on Samsung US support.
- Open My Products.
- Select the registered Galaxy phone and inspect its warranty status and recorded dates.
- If the date is wrong, choose Review Warranty and follow the upload instructions for proof of purchase.
The support page also uses your product identifiers to match a repair request to the correct device. Keep the model, serial number, or IMEI available even if the phone already appears under My Products.
Use Samsung’s Request Repair And Check Repair Status page for the My Products workflow, warranty-date review, and repair-status tools.

A displayed date can be wrong because the registration record does not reflect the original purchase or delivery date. Correcting that record is separate from opening a repair request: first submit the date review with the required evidence, then use the appropriate service route for the device’s actual problem.

Evidence Samsung asks for
Have the original receipt or delivery evidence ready. Samsung’s registration guidance asks for the purchase or delivery date and a receipt image identifying the place of purchase. Its warranty-date dispute guidance asks for documentation that shows:
- The purchase date or delivery date.
- The seller’s identity.
- The product model.
- The price.
- Applicable transaction details that connect the document to the phone.
Upload a legible document through Review Warranty rather than relying only on a typed explanation. Samsung’s registration and receipt guidance is at Register Your Samsung Product.
Records Samsung says it will not accept for changing the purchase date
- Credit-card or other card statements.
- Quotes or estimates.
- Private used-device purchases.
A private sale can be relevant to your own ownership records, but Samsung’s date-dispute guidance does not accept it for changing the warranty purchase date. Follow the exact evidence list in the form you are submitting; an item accepted for initial registration is not automatically accepted for a warranty-date dispute or a repair claim.
Submit date disputes through Samsung’s Dispute / Validate warranty date page. Keep the original files and any confirmation number until Samsung finishes its review.
Start a standard Samsung warranty repair
Once the phone’s status and purchase evidence are in order, request service through a Samsung-authorized channel. Samsung’s US mobile limited-warranty terms describe three service types: authorized walk-in, mobile, or mail-in service.
Step 1: Confirm the device and problem
Write down the exact symptom, when it began, and any troubleshooting already attempted. Have the model number, serial number, or IMEI ready. Accurate identifiers prevent a repair request from being attached to the wrong device or account.
Step 2: Gather acceptable purchase proof
For a standard mobile-warranty repair, Samsung’s terms say the device must be accompanied by a sales receipt or comparable proof showing:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- The original consumer purchase date.
- The product serial number.
- The seller’s name and address.
If your receipt does not identify the phone’s serial number, check the service instructions for the specific submission method before shipping or visiting a location. Do not assume a card statement, estimate, or private-sale record will substitute for the proof described in the warranty terms.

- 14FT Military Grade Drop Protection: A17 5G / A16 5G Phone Case has rigid polycarbonate backplate paired with flexible, shock-absorbing TPU bumpers around the edges, plus 4 built-in corner airbags. Provides comprehensive protection against accidental drops, bumps, and impacts
Step 3: Back up and prepare the phone
Make a backup outside the phone before handing it to a technician or carrier. Samsung warns that some or all content may be deleted or reformatted during service. Verify that the backup actually contains the files you need, and make sure you can sign back into important accounts after the repair.
Step 4: Select an authorized service route
Choose the available walk-in, mobile, or mail-in option offered for your location. Follow the packing, shipping, appointment, and identity instructions shown by Samsung rather than sending the phone to an unaffiliated repair shop and expecting the same warranty process. Samsung’s mobile terms, including proof and data-loss warnings, are at Terms and Conditions for Mobile.
Step 5: Track the request
Use Samsung’s repair-status tools after submission. Keep the service number, carrier tracking details, and a copy of the documents you uploaded. If Samsung cannot offer the same service at your current location, its contact guidance directs you to the country where the phone was purchased; do not assume a local center can apply another country’s warranty.
What the warranty screen can and cannot tell you
The on-device panel and My Products record are useful starting points, but they are not a promise that every fault will be repaired at no cost. The screen may identify a coverage type, expiration date, or Care+ plan while the final decision still depends on the applicable terms, the phone’s condition, the purchase location, and the documents supplied. A status marked active does not convert accidental damage, liquid damage, unauthorized modification, or another excluded condition into a covered defect. Describe the condition honestly when you request service and let Samsung or the plan administrator make the eligibility decision.
Likewise, an expired or incorrect date in the account does not by itself prove that you have no rights. Save the displayed record, submit the date review with the requested evidence, and ask support which service route applies while the review is pending. Keep copies of every upload and confirmation. If you bought through a retailer, the retailer may also have records that help identify the original transaction, but Samsung’s form controls which documents it will accept.
Prepare for walk-in, mobile, or mail-in service
Each authorized route has practical differences. A walk-in location may require an appointment and lets you hand over the phone in person. Mobile service may be limited by address, device, or technician availability. Mail-in service requires careful packing and tracking and can leave you without the phone while it is being evaluated. Select only the option Samsung presents for your address and device; availability is not evidence that a claim is approved.
Before any handoff, remove a physical SIM or memory card if Samsung’s instructions tell you to do so, record the phone’s condition, and note the accessories you send. Do not ship accessories unless the service instructions request them. Disable locks or provide the access information only through Samsung’s approved process, because a technician may need to test the device; never include passwords in an unsecured note. Keep the tracking number and photograph the package and its contents. These precautions document what you supplied without changing the warranty decision.

After Samsung receives the phone
Monitor the repair status with the service number and carrier tracking. Samsung may inspect the device before confirming whether the reported issue falls under the applicable terms. If the request is declined, ask for the stated reason and the next available option rather than authorizing unrelated paid work without understanding the cost. If a paid repair or deductible is offered, confirm what it covers, whether the original problem is included, and whether returning the phone unrepaired has a fee under the local terms.

Standard warranty versus Samsung Care+
A standard limited-warranty request and a Samsung Care+ claim are different processes. The limited warranty concerns defects and the terms attached to the original purchase. Samsung Care+ is a paid additional protection plan that includes accidental-damage coverage; it is not an automatic extension of the standard warranty.
| Question | Standard limited warranty | Samsung Care+ |
|---|---|---|
| Where to begin | Samsung-authorized walk-in, mobile, or mail-in service route | Settings > Warranty and care > active device card > Make claim, where available |
| Typical purpose | Service under the applicable mobile-warranty terms | Paid protection that includes accidental-damage coverage |
| What you may need | Purchase proof showing original consumer purchase date, serial number, and seller name and address | Issue description, selected service option, and any documents or deductible required by the local plan |
| Payment at claim | Determined by warranty eligibility and applicable terms | An applicable deductible may be due |
| Eligibility and process | Controlled by the device’s warranty and purchase location | Controlled by the Care+ plan, local insurer, country, covered damage, and regional terms |
How the Care+ device flow works
- Open Settings and tap Warranty and care.
- Open the active device card.
- Tap Make claim.
- Describe the issue and select the service option presented.
- Pay any applicable deductible and provide any documents the local plan requests.
Do not use the Care+ route simply because the phone is outside the standard warranty or because the warranty date is wrong. First determine which coverage applies and read the plan conditions for your country or region.
Which Samsung path should you use?
| Your situation | Use this path | What to have ready |
|---|---|---|
| You only need to see the current coverage and the phone supports the feature | Settings > Warranty and care > View details > View warranty details | Samsung Account linked to the device |
| The on-device menu is unavailable or you prefer a browser | Samsung Account > My Products | Account sign-in and device registration |
| The recorded purchase date is inaccurate | My Products > Review Warranty | Receipt or delivery evidence meeting Samsung’s date-review requirements |
| The phone may have a defect covered by the standard warranty | Authorized walk-in, mobile, or mail-in repair request | Model, serial number or IMEI, and qualifying purchase proof |
| The phone has accidental damage and an active Care+ plan | Settings > Warranty and care > Make claim | Issue details, plan-specific documents, and possible deductible |
Troubleshoot common roadblocks
The phone is not listed in My Products
Sign out and verify that you are using the Samsung Account associated with the registration. Check the model, serial number, and IMEI against the phone and the receipt. If the product still does not appear, use Samsung’s registration page and follow its receipt-upload instructions, then return to the repair page after the device is associated with the account.
The on-device expiration date conflicts with the receipt
Do not start by guessing which date is correct. Save a screenshot of the displayed status, gather the original purchase or delivery evidence, and submit Review Warranty through My Products. Samsung’s dispute process evaluates the documentation rather than a card statement or a private-sale record.
You cannot find a local repair option
Service availability depends on location and country of purchase. Check the walk-in, mobile, and mail-in choices shown for your address. If the phone was purchased in another country, use Samsung’s country-of-purchase contact guidance before shipping it to a local center.
You are worried about losing data
Back up the phone before any in-person handoff or shipment. A warranty decision does not guarantee that data will remain intact during diagnosis or repair; Samsung explicitly warns that content may be deleted or reformatted.

What to remember before submitting
- Use the on-device lookup when available; otherwise use Samsung Account and My Products.
- Use Review Warranty to challenge an inaccurate date, with evidence that identifies the transaction and phone.
- Use an authorized Samsung service channel for a standard warranty repair.
- Keep the purchase proof and the model, serial number, or IMEI ready.
- Back up everything before service because repair handling can erase or reformat data.
- Treat Care+ as a separate paid plan whose claim rules and deductibles depend on region.
- Apply these steps only to the US process unless your local Samsung site confirms the same options.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check whether my Samsung Galaxy is still under warranty?
On a supported US phone linked to your Samsung Account, open Settings, tap Warranty and care, choose View details on the device card, and tap View warranty details. The panel can show the coverage type and expiration date. You can also sign in to Samsung US, open My Products, and select the registered phone.
Why can’t I see Warranty and care in Settings?
Samsung describes this device lookup for phones running One UI 9.0 or later, and tools vary by device and region. Use the Samsung Account and My Products method if the menu is absent, and confirm that the phone is linked to the correct account.
What should I do if Samsung has the wrong warranty date?
In My Products, choose Review Warranty and upload the requested purchase or delivery evidence. The documentation should identify the date, seller, model, price, and transaction details connecting it to the phone. Card statements, quotes or estimates, and private used-device purchases are not accepted for changing the purchase date under Samsung’s dispute guidance.
What proof is needed for a standard warranty repair?
Samsung’s US mobile terms call for a sales receipt or comparable proof showing the original consumer purchase date, the product serial number, and the seller’s name and address. Keep the model, serial number, or IMEI available for the repair request as well.
Will Samsung’s repair process erase my data?
It can. Samsung warns that some or all content may be deleted or reformatted during service. Make and verify a separate backup before a walk-in visit, mobile appointment, or shipment, and ensure you can sign back into important accounts afterward.
Is Samsung Care+ the same as the standard warranty?
No. Care+ is a paid additional protection plan that can include accidental-damage coverage. Its claim flow, covered damage, documents, insurer, and deductible depend on the plan and region. A standard warranty repair uses the applicable mobile-warranty terms and an authorized Samsung service channel.
Can I use a Samsung service center in another country?
Do not assume it can apply the warranty from your purchase country. Samsung directs customers to country-of-purchase guidance when service is unavailable at their current location. Check the local support site and contact instructions before shipping or visiting a center.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →What if Samsung declines my claim?
Ask for the reason and the next available option under the applicable terms. Confirm whether Samsung is offering a paid repair, a return without repair, or another remedy, and understand any quoted cost before authorizing work. Keep the decision, repair number, and your purchase documents.
The Bottom Line
For the US process, check Settings > Warranty and care or Samsung Account My Products. Correct an inaccurate date through Review Warranty with transaction-specific proof, then request service through an authorized walk-in, mobile, or mail-in channel. Back up the phone first, and treat Care+ as separate coverage with its own regional rules and possible deductible.
