To charge a selfie ring light, check its manual for the correct port, cable, permitted USB power source, and full-charge signal. Connect it as directed, then disconnect it when the device indicates charging is complete. These details vary by model: a full battery may be shown by a green light or by an indicator turning off.
How to charge a selfie ring light
- Identify the charging port. Check the light and its manual; connectors are not universal. The DÖRR SLR-13 and Hama ToGo 00004674 use USB-C, while the Officeworks OTSELFLITE manual specifies Micro-USB. DÖRR SLR-13 manual, Hama ToGo 00004674 product information, OTSELFLITE manual.
- Use the cable specified for your light. DÖRR directs users to use only the supplied USB cable; the OTSELFLITE manual identifies its included Micro-USB cable. DÖRR SLR-13 manual, OTSELFLITE manual.
- Connect it to a permitted USB source. Follow your model’s instructions rather than assuming any USB adapter is suitable. - Check the indicator on the light. It may show charging or completion differently from another model; see the signals below.
- Disconnect when the manual’s full-charge signal appears. DÖRR specifically says to remove the USB cable when its indicator turns green. DÖRR SLR-13 manual.
How to tell when it is fully charged

How long charging takes—and what the figures mean
Charging time depends on the light and its charging conditions; there is no universal estimate established for selfie ring lights. The DÖRR SLR-13 manual says its completely empty battery takes about 2.5 hours to charge via a computer, and separately gives an approximate USB charging time of 2.5 hours. It specifies 5 V/1 A and lists about 100 minutes of operating time on a full battery. These are manufacturer figures for that model, not expectations for other lights. The OTSELFLITE manual advises charging the light if its power button does not turn it on or if its light output noticeably decreases during use. Start by checking the manual for the correct cable and charging procedure. If the light still does not charge, the available model-specific guidance does not establish a universal troubleshooting fix; consult that product’s manual or manufacturer rather than trying an unapproved charger or cable. Before using a replacement cable
Match the cable connector to the light’s port, then check the manual’s cable and power-source instructions. A USB-C cable is not suitable for a Micro-USB port, and DÖRR specifies using the supplied cable for the SLR-13. Charging precautions in the DÖRR manual
The DÖRR SLR-13 manual says to fully charge its built-in lithium-ion battery before first use and warns: “Never leave the ring light unattended while charging.” Follow the instructions for your own model; these directions are specifically documented for the SLR-13. DÖRR SLR-13 manual.
