Race Change is a World of Warcraft character service, but Blizzard’s currently available support information should be your authority for purchase steps, eligibility, price, and the full list of what persists. One important restriction is confirmed: a character cannot be race changed while a WoW Token is in its inventory. Blizzard also says a Race Change no longer blocks an Allied Race character from earning its Heritage Armor.
What Race Change does—and what is not confirmed here
Race Change alters a character’s race. It is separate from Character Transfer, which moves a character to another realm or eligible account. Blizzard publishes distinct support information for the two services, so transfer rules about items, achievements, collections, lockouts, or guild status should not be treated as Race Change rules. Blizzard’s Race Change support result identifies an official article titled “Race Change Information and Restrictions,” but the article’s details are not available in the cited material here.
For that reason, this guide cannot establish the current price, purchase steps, cooldown, eligibility thresholds, or complete carry-over list. Check the current Race Change service screen in World of Warcraft and Blizzard’s official Race Change support article before purchasing. Do not assume that particular items, currencies, quest progress, achievements, or collections will persist unless that Race Change guidance explicitly confirms it.
Check for a WoW Token before attempting a Race Change
Blizzard states that a character with a WoW Token in its inventory cannot be race changed. Review the character’s inventory and resolve that restriction before trying to use the service. See Blizzard’s WoW Token support information.

Race Change and Allied Race Heritage Armor
Blizzard says that using Race Change or Faction Change no longer disqualifies an Allied Race character from completing its Heritage Armor quest. The cited support article specifies that a character from one of the listed Allied Races must reach level 50 and complete the relevant Heritage quest. Check Blizzard’s Allied Race Heritage Armor requirements for the applicable race and quest details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not use Character Transfer rules to predict Race Change results
Character Transfer is a different service: it moves a character rather than changing its race. Blizzard’s transfer guidance discusses transfer-specific consequences, including items, achievements, collections, lockouts, and guild status. Those details do not establish what Race Change preserves. Consult the support article for the exact service you intend to use: Character Transfer Information and Restrictions.
