Use the runtime weather command. In chat, an administrator can enter /weather storm for rain, /weather blizzard for a blizzard, /weather none to clear the current event and resume normal scheduling, or /weather disable to stop weather and prevent another event from being scheduled.
Commands are case-insensitive. Chat commands need administrator privileges and must begin with / or @; single-player games grant those privileges by default. You can also issue the command from the server console, place commands in Commands.dat, tune weather pacing in gameplay configuration, or start a custom weather asset by GUID.

Weather commands at a glance
The correct command depends on whether you want a particular weather type, a normal cycle, or a complete pause. This table shows the practical difference between the built-in options.

How to change weather while playing
- Open chat or the server console. In a hosted multiplayer game, chat is available to players; the console is available to the server operator.
- Confirm your permissions. Chat execution requires administrator privileges. A single-player user normally already has them. On a multiplayer server, ask the owner to grant admin access or run the command from the server console.
- Enter the command with the appropriate prefix in chat. Use a leading slash or at-sign, such as
/weather stormor@weather storm. The command reference documents chat, console, andCommands.datas supported input locations: Unturned Wiki commands reference. - Press Enter. The selected event starts or the current event is reset according to the command you chose.
Commands are not case-sensitive, so /weather Storm and /weather storm are equivalent. If multiplayer chat rejects the command, that normally indicates missing administrator privileges or an incorrect prefix; use the server console or contact the server owner.
Choosing between none and disable
/weather none: clear weather and resume the cycle
none removes the current rain, snow, or other active event, then lets the game schedule a new weather type. It is the right choice when you want to stop the present storm but still want ordinary weather to return later.

disable cancels active weather and cancels future scheduled weather. Use it for a permanently clear session, a building project, or a server event where rain and snow must not return. This option was added in the March 18, 2022 patch; the dated patch notes are available at the March 18, 2022 Unturned patch page.
The distinction matters on maps with their own schedule. Cancelling weather with none can immediately lead to another scheduled event, whereas disable is specifically intended to cancel both the active event and the next scheduled one.

Reissuing the active weather
The March 18, 2022 patch notes also document that entering the GUID of the weather currently in progress reschedules that weather rather than toggling it off. Therefore, repeating a weather GUID is not a reliable way to end an event; use none or disable for that purpose.
Starting every built-in weather type
Short names are easiest to remember, but the command also accepts weather asset GUIDs. GUIDs let you select built-in variants that do not have a dedicated short command.

When a weather entry has no short name, copy its GUID exactly. A mistyped character can produce an unknown-command or invalid-asset response. The weather page lists the available built-in values and their identifiers at https://unturned.wiki.gg/wiki/Weather.
Stopping rain, snow, or lightning
Stop it once and allow normal weather later
Enter /weather none. The active event ends, and the game is free to schedule a new one. This is usually the least disruptive option during ordinary survival play.

Keep the map clear
Enter /weather disable. Unlike none, it also suppresses future scheduling. If you later want weather again, start a named event such as /weather storm or issue /weather none to return to normal scheduling.
Use the console when chat permissions are unavailable
Server consoles accept the same command family. Enter the command through the console interface according to its normal command syntax; chat-only prefixes are intended for chat. The official command documentation identifies the in-game chat, server console, and Commands.dat as command entry points.
Making weather last longer or occur more often
Runtime commands change the current event. For persistent pacing, edit the gameplay configuration instead of repeatedly issuing commands. The documented weather-related settings are:

Keep each minimum at or below its corresponding maximum. Change the base rain interval values when you need a different range, and use the multipliers for a broad pacing adjustment. These options affect configured weather behavior; they do not override maps that use a default weather system with their own schedule. When configuration changes appear to do nothing
- Check whether the map supplies its own default weather system. The weather multipliers do not affect maps using that map-specific schedule.
- Verify that you changed the server’s gameplay configuration rather than a different profile or local configuration.
- Allow the current event and schedule to transition; configuration controls the system’s pacing and does not necessarily remove an event already started by a command.
- Use
/weather disableonly when you want a complete runtime stop; it is not a substitute for correcting persistent configuration.
Using commands in a server setup
In-game administrator chat
Use /weather ... or @weather ... after administrator access has been granted. This is convenient for a live event, but ordinary players cannot run it through chat without the required privilege.
Server console
The console is appropriate when the operator needs to change weather without entering the game or when chat permissions are unavailable. It can start a named event, clear the cycle, disable scheduling, or pass a GUID just as the chat command does.
Commands.dat
The official command reference also supports adding commands to a server’s Commands.dat file. This is useful for server administration that needs commands loaded as part of the server’s configuration rather than typed during play. Follow the file’s normal command-entry format and use the same weather argument, such as storm, blizzard, none, or disable.
Because a command in a configuration file can affect every player, review the intended result before saving: none restores scheduling, while disable suppresses future weather.

Custom weather assets for maps and mods
Map makers and mod authors can trigger a custom weather asset by passing that asset’s GUID to the weather command. The custom asset determines its own effects, so it may not behave exactly like the built-in storm or blizzard values. The Unturned 3 modding knowledgebase explains the weather asset workflow at https://unturned.info/Modding/WeatherAsset/.
For custom weather, use the asset GUID rather than guessing a short name. The knowledgebase documents 0 as a value that can end a custom weather event. Built-in and custom behavior should be treated separately: a custom asset can include effects or scheduling assumptions supplied by its map or mod.
Example custom-asset sequence
- Identify the weather asset GUID supplied by the map or mod.
- Run
/weather <asset-guid>as an administrator, replacing the angle-bracket text with the actual GUID. - To end that custom event, use the asset system’s documented
0value or use the normal built-in reset command if the map supports it. - If the map immediately starts another event, use
/weather disableto stop active and future scheduling.
Common problems and fixes
“Unknown command” or no visible change
- Check spelling: the command is
weather, followed by a space and a valid name or GUID. - In chat, add
/or@beforeweather. - Use the exact 32-character GUID when selecting a variant without a short name.
- Try a named built-in value such as
stormto determine whether the issue is the GUID rather than the command itself.
The command works in single-player but not multiplayer
Single-player users have administrator privileges by default. Multiplayer chat requires the player to be an administrator; ask the server owner to grant access or execute the command in the server console.
Rain stops, then returns immediately
You used none, which clears the current event but deliberately permits a new one to be scheduled. Use disable when the requirement is no active or future weather.
Repeating a weather command does not turn it off
When the argument is the GUID of the currently active weather, the command reschedules that weather according to the March 18, 2022 patch behavior. End it with none or disable instead.
Weather pacing changes have no effect
The map may use a default weather system with its own schedule, which is not affected by the weather multipliers. Confirm the map’s weather model before changing Weather_Frequency_Multiplier or Weather_Duration_Multiplier.

Which method should you use?
- Choose a short command when you need a known built-in event immediately.
- Choose a GUID when you need a built-in variant without a short name or a custom weather asset supplied by a mod.
- Choose
nonewhen you want to reset the current event and retain normal scheduling. - Choose
disablewhen both current and future weather must be suppressed. - Choose gameplay configuration when the desired change should persist as a frequency or duration policy rather than a one-time event.
- Choose a custom asset GUID when a map or mod provides weather effects beyond the built-in events.
For most players, the shortest reliable workflow is: open chat, confirm administrator access, enter /weather storm, /weather blizzard, /weather none, or /weather disable, and press Enter. Use the configuration settings only when you want to change the map’s ongoing pacing, and remember that map-specific default weather systems can override those multiplier changes.
