Godlike.Host offers hosted Conan Exiles servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
To change the region shown for a Conan Exiles server, edit its serverRegion value or change the equivalent Region field in your hosting panel. Stop the server first, apply the change, save it, and start the server again. The setting changes how the server is filtered and labeled in the browser; it does not move the machine or change its physical data-center location.
What the visible region setting actually does
Conan Exiles uses a region value to determine where a server appears when players filter the server browser. A server can therefore be physically hosted in one country while being listed under another visible region. Changing the value is useful when players cannot find a server because it is appearing under the wrong continent, or when the server was assigned an unsuitable region during setup.
This is a browser and classification setting, not a network relocation. It does not transfer the server to a different data center, reduce the distance between players and the machine, or guarantee lower latency. If players are experiencing high ping, the host’s physical location, routing, server load, and each player’s connection still matter.
Before you change anything
- Confirm who manages the server. Use the hosting company’s control panel for a rented server. Edit
ServerSettings.inionly when you administer the files yourself. - Schedule a restart. The server must be stopped before changing the value, and it must be started afterward for the new listing to be read.
- Record the current value. Copy the existing line or note the panel’s current Region and Community values so you can restore them if necessary.
- Warn players about the outage. Stopping the server disconnects everyone currently playing and may interrupt saves or other scheduled maintenance.
- Check your host’s region table. Region numbers are not presented consistently by every guide. In particular, values 3, 4, and 5 have conflicting descriptions, so use the mapping documented by your host or platform.
Change the region in a hosting control panel
Panel names differ, but the supported workflow is the same. Wabbanode’s documented procedure places the controls under the server’s World Settings. Akliz and Shockbyte also publish guidance for changing a Conan Exiles server region; their labels and menu layout may differ from Wabbanode’s.

- Stop the Conan Exiles server. Use the panel’s Stop, Shut down, or equivalent command and wait until the status shows that the process has fully stopped. Do not edit a live configuration file while the game server is still running.
- Open the world configuration. In the panel, open the settings area for the Conan Exiles world. On Wabbanode, this is the World Settings section.
- Set the Community field if your panel provides one. Some panels expose both Community and Region because the two values together control how a server is presented in the browser. Keep the community name exactly as you want it displayed.
- Set the Region field. Choose the desired region from the host’s list, or enter the corresponding value if the panel uses a number. If the panel supplies a drop-down, prefer it over manually guessing a numeric code.
- Save the settings. Wait for the panel to confirm that the configuration was written. A page refresh before saving can discard the change.
- Start the server. Use Start and wait for the process to reach its normal online or running state. A restart is required even when the panel appears to save the value immediately.
- Verify the listing. In Conan Exiles, clear any old browser filters, search for the server by name, and inspect the displayed region. Browser caches and list refresh delays can temporarily show the previous classification.
If the panel has no Region field
Some providers expose only a general configuration editor or a file manager. Search the panel’s documentation for serverRegion, ServerSettings.ini, or Conan Exiles world settings. Do not create a second setting with a similar name: the server reads the existing key, and an unfamiliar duplicate may be ignored.
If the provider locks the file or does not document the option, open a support ticket and include the server name, current listing, desired visible region, and the fact that the server was stopped before the requested change. The host can confirm which numbering scheme its infrastructure uses.

Change the region on a self-managed server
On a server whose files you administer directly, the visible region is stored as a serverRegion= line in ServerSettings.ini. The exact directory is platform- and installation-dependent, and a single official path for every Conan Exiles edition and operating system has not been established. Locate the active file through your server’s configuration directory or launch documentation rather than assuming a path copied from another installation.
- Stop the server process cleanly. Use the service manager, startup script, or hosting dashboard that normally controls your instance. Confirm that the process has exited before editing files.
- Back up the active configuration. Make a copy of
ServerSettings.iniwith a date in the filename. This gives you a rollback if the server fails to start or another setting is accidentally changed. - Open the correct file. If more than one Conan Exiles installation exists, identify the file used by the instance you are changing. Editing a template, an unused test installation, or a backup will have no effect on the live server.
- Find the region key. Search for
serverRegion=. Preserve the capitalization and spelling of the key. If it appears once, change only the value after the equals sign. - Enter the value required by your platform. The commonly documented numbering begins with 0 for Europe, 1 for North America, and 2 for Asia. Values 3 through 5 are described differently by different references; verify those values with your host before saving.
- Save the file without changing its format. Do not add quotation marks, spaces in the key name, or a second
serverRegionline. Keep the file’s normal text encoding and line endings. - Start the server and allow it to finish loading. The new value is read during startup. If the service overwrites the file, check whether a panel, startup script, or deployment tool is restoring the old copy.
- Check the public listing. Refresh the in-game browser, remove region filters, and search by the server’s name. If the old region remains after a complete restart, stop the server again and inspect the active file for a reverted or duplicate setting.
Region numbers: use the mapping your host supports
There is no single region table that can safely be applied to every guide or host. The official Conan Exiles wiki lists the following values:

A separate third-party generator uses a different table for the higher values:

The agreement on 0, 1, and 2 does not resolve the conflict for 3, 4, and 5. Treat the host’s own documentation or drop-down as authoritative. If your provider does not state a mapping, ask support before choosing one of those values; otherwise the server can be listed under an unexpected continent even though the file saved successfully.
Community and region are separate presentation controls
Hosted panels may show both a Community field and a Region field under world settings. Region determines the browser classification. Community is the associated community or listing text, so changing only one field can leave a server with an unexpected name or grouping. Follow the panel’s instructions for both fields, and do not assume that changing the community label alone changes the region filter.
If you are editing the file directly, the key that controls the visible region is serverRegion. A community label may be stored elsewhere in the configuration. Do not replace the region key with a community name or a geographic word unless the panel explicitly translates that selection for you.

How to verify the change
Use an unfiltered browser search
Open the Conan Exiles server browser, remove the old region filter, and search by the exact server name. This avoids mistaking a hidden server for a failed region change. Once the server appears, apply the intended region filter and confirm that it remains visible.
Allow for startup and list refresh
The server must complete a full restart before the setting can be read. The browser may also retain an earlier result briefly. Close and reopen the browser or force a refresh after the server is online. Verification should be based on the listing after startup, not on the panel’s saved-state message alone.

Hosts often keep separate files for multiple worlds, test servers, or backups. If the listing does not change, compare the server’s startup configuration with the file you edited and check whether an automated deployment step restores a previous copy.
Troubleshooting a server that still shows the wrong region
The server was not fully stopped
A running process can keep the old configuration in memory, and a panel may reject edits while the process is active. Stop the server, wait for the status to become offline, save the change, and start it again.

The wrong configuration file was edited
Search the installation for all files named ServerSettings.ini and identify the one used by the active instance. Keep backups clearly labeled so an old copy is not mistaken for the live file.
The value is outside the host’s supported range
A numeric value that is accepted by a text editor may not be recognized by the server or control panel. Use the host’s documented list, especially for values 3, 4, and 5. If the panel offers a selector, reselect the region there instead of forcing a number in the file.
The panel overwrote the manual edit
Some dashboards regenerate configuration files when a server starts or when settings are applied. Check the panel after startup. If the old value returned, make the change through the panel or disable the conflicting automation only if the provider documents that option.
The browser is hiding the server
Clear region, community, name, password, and other filters. A full name search with no region filter distinguishes a listing problem from a configuration problem. Also check that the server is online and has completed startup.

You expected a physical location change
The visible region does not relocate the server. To change latency or data-center geography, you need a hosting plan or migration that places the instance in another physical location; changing serverRegion alone cannot do that.
Conan Exiles Enhanced and platform uncertainty
The available documentation does not verify whether Conan Exiles Enhanced, the Unreal Engine 5 edition, changed the setting name, configuration format, or file path. Do not assume that instructions for the standard edition apply unchanged. Before editing an Enhanced installation, check the current host documentation or the installation’s own configuration guidance. If the host offers a Region selector, use it and ask support to confirm where the value is stored.

The same caution applies to console and managed environments where direct file access is restricted. The general stop-change-save-start sequence remains the safe model, but the exact menu and file location depend on the platform and provider.
Choosing a region without misleading players
- Match the intended audience. Select the region under which players should find the server, using the host’s mapping.
- Do not promise lower ping based on the label. The label affects filtering, not the server’s physical network path.
- Document the choice for administrators. Keep the selected value, the host’s mapping, and the date of the change with your server notes.
- Tell players about the change. A region change can make a server disappear from saved searches that still use the former filter.
No published statistics establish that one visible region produces better performance by itself. Make the choice for discoverability and accurate classification, then evaluate latency using the actual host location and player connections.

When to contact the host
Contact the provider when the panel has no region control, the server repeatedly reverts the value, the host’s numbering table conflicts with published references, or the server remains under the old region after a clean restart and unfiltered browser search. Include the server identifier, the value you selected, the time of the restart, and a screenshot or text copy of the resulting listing. Ask the host to confirm both the supported number and the configuration file used by the running instance.
