To change the password you use to unlock a Samsung Galaxy A14, go to Settings > Lock screen (or Lock screen and AOD) > Screen lock type, enter your current lock, select Password, and follow the prompts. This changes the phone’s screen lock—not your Samsung Account, Google Account, email, or app password.
Change the Galaxy A14 screen-lock password

Open Settings.

Tap Lock screen. On some software versions, this is labeled Lock screen and AOD.

Tap Screen lock type. If you do not see that option, search in Settings for “Screen lock type.”

Enter your current PIN, pattern, or password when prompted. The phone requires the existing lock before it lets you change the screen-lock setting.

Enter the new password and confirm it by following the on-screen prompts.

Lock the phone and test the new password once. Keep the old credential available until you have confirmed the new one works.

Samsung’s US instructions use Settings > Lock screen and AOD > Screen lock type; its Australian instructions use Settings > Lock Screen > Screen lock type. Menu wording can vary by software version and region. See Samsung’s screen-lock setup guide and Samsung Australia’s change-lock instructions.
Password, PIN, and pattern: what changes?
These choices differ in how you enter the screen lock. A password uses text, a PIN uses digits, and a pattern uses a drawn path. Samsung also lists Swipe and None among basic lock choices; those do not require a knowledge credential. Available choices may vary by device and software configuration. The setting you select here controls access to the phone itself, not passwords for online accounts.

If you forgot the current or new lock
You still know the current lock
Use it when prompted during the Settings procedure, then set and confirm the replacement password.
You changed the lock and cannot remember the new one
Samsung says a previous PIN, password, or pattern may be used for a limited recovery period of 72 hours on supported Galaxy devices running One UI 6.1 or later, after the lock has been changed. This is not guaranteed for every Galaxy A14 variant or software configuration. Check Samsung’s instructions for unlocking with the previous screen lock to confirm eligibility and steps.

You cannot unlock the phone or do not know the existing lock
The change procedure requires the existing credential, and the cited Samsung instructions do not establish a universal bypass. Contact Samsung support for your region and model rather than relying on third-party tools that promise guaranteed access. Samsung’s Galaxy A14 5G support page describes the phone’s security features and provides a starting point for model-specific help.
